This piece of music history happened on November 24, 2013 so not long before Angelina Jordan turned 8 on January 10, 2014. Her next performance singing another Billie Holiday song, "I'm a Fool to Want You" happened on 2/7/14. Truly amazing how the two women judges here got it exactly right. The first woman judge said "You ARE Music" while the other one exclaimed Angelina is a star. IMO this is the most remarkable audition for any of the talent shows.
Dont forget that Omer Bhatti, the first judge, was the first ever to officially say that he believes Angelina is an old soul, living many lives. That has been repeated so many times. Omer Bhatti was also a close friend of Michael Jackson, living with him and his family for several years as a child, also at Neverland. And the last male judge was also very on point. All 4 set a very high standard, and Angelina has never disappointed them or anyone else. Quite the opposite, I believe. We all knew she would become a star, but how good she is, is something that stands out, even in the sky of superstars.

I don't think you will find a more accurate cover of this Billie Holiday song from anyone.. anywhere... of any age. The fact that this is a 7 year old doing it is just remarkable. I always like to share what Angelina said about this performance in an interview during the show (the statement itself gives you an idea of how mature beyond her years this kid is).... "The reason I chose this song is completely random. I love jazz, but "Gloomy Sunday" was random. It was a night I could not sleep and my mother was stressed that I was awake long after midnight. Then I borrowed my mom's iPad where I wanted to listen to jazz on TH-cam before I fell asleep. Then came a picture of a beautiful lady screaming at the sky and with her eyes closed... I'm talking about jazz queen Billie Holiday. I heard the song "Gloomy Sunday" that night and then I had to hear it every day. I love the melody. I understood well what the text was about because I know English well. Every time I sang it I felt something special about it, it's hard to explain in words. When I sang it for mom, she said that this song is nice, but that it was incredibly sad song". - Angelina Jordan ...and of course you mentioned her bare feet, so I have to give the story again (I left a full bio on your Yellow brick road video if you want to read more).. *Why Angelina always sings barefoot* - When Angelina was 6 years old, she was traveling with her grandmother and met a poor girl with no shoes trying to make money on the streets. They talked for a while and discussed their dreams. It was cold and the girl had scars on her feet. Seeing this, Angelina took off her shoes and gave them to the girl. The girl thanked her and told Angelina she would pray for her every day. That day Angelina made a vow to always sing barefoot until all the children of the world could have shoes. To this day, whenever Angelina is performing in public, she sings barefoot as a way to remember that little girl and to remind us that there are less fortunate people in the world that could use our help. Angelina holds so true to this promise that she has sung outdoors in Norway, in december... barefoot. She has sung at a dinner with ex-pres Obama... barefoot. Her first public show with Gloomy Sunday was an astonishing event for those who lived it at that moment, the emotion one feels for her first performances, in which she wonderfully connects her voice and talent with aspect of that little bird playing, it is very big and intense and leaves you permanently marked. ❤️ ❤️ To think that at 7 years she was perfectly capable of reading, analyzing and making contact, in a foreign language, without any doubt or fear, with the public and with the talented judges seems impossible. She convinced her mother to sign her up for Talent because she was confident ... at seven years! In the days following the performance, her online video recorded over 5 million views in a country, the Norway, which has as many inhabitants ... 😁 😁 The first judge, at the end of this song, said what remains for me the simplest and most suitable description of Angelina, "you are the music", there is nothing more true. ❤️ The artistic path of this incredible little girl in the last 6 years has been wonderful, impossible not to be enchanted.

Great reaction Nathan, only another 130+ tracks to get through and they will blow your head off. Check out why she performs barefoot - she wrote a book about it, youngest published author in Norway.
She blew you (me/everybody) away at the age of 7 because of the emotion she conveys. When you go back to re-watch this in a couple of days (and you will), hunt around a bit - there is another video out there, the same as this, but with hard-wired English subtitles. It makes a huge difference to the enjoyment of the whole experience. And how about her poor mother backstage, shaking and almost in tears, so nervous for her tiny little princess of a child with that missing front tooth and that bohemian hair? The entire world owes her, and indeed, her entire family, a huge thank you for the tremendous job they've done in raising her to be the kind, humble person she's turned into and in keeping the wolves of the music industry at bay while she continued to enjoy her childhood, despite the tremendous burden of that huge talent. My suggestion to you is that you now continue your journey through her NGT performances, taking them in order and watching in amazement how far she progresses in even that short span of time. In fact, I'll help you out a bit in that. I see in the comments that a number of people have already posted links to this one, complete with the sub-titles, so here are the other three she did, in chronological order: Performance Two: Acapella audition - I'm A Fool To Want You (Billy Holiday) th-cam.com/video/6LIcQL5gLoY/w-d-xo.html Performance Three - Semi-final: Bang, Bang (Nancy Sinatra) th-cam.com/video/pcBoB49Gxn8/w-d-xo.html Performance Four: Finale - Summertime (George Gershwin) th-cam.com/video/bnpFsCNKzFg/w-d-xo.html There is no subtitled version for 'I'm A Fool To Want You', since it's just her singing, but the other two both have English sub-titles for your enjoyment. I became a fan after first discovering her by accident a few years ago, and even after all that time, and over a hundred and thirty songs later, 'Summertime' is still one of my all-time favorites of hers. She does great in all of them, of course, but that one is truly sublime. She soars! Enjoy your journey, and pay particular attention to comments by Rusty Shackleford. He's pretty much the go-to guy for all things Angelina. A true super-fan.
At first (when I originally listened to this performance) I was like wow she sounds great, then I listened to Billie Holiday's version and was like WHAT IT SOUNDS JUST LIKE IT?! Blew my mind lol. Angelina is one of a kind.
Wasn't that simply marvelous? I love how Angelina cues the music when she is ready to sing. She was so confident and totally in charge, amazing for such a wee little girl.
there is a translation version on her channel. You should now go listen to the original Billie Holiday version. I was not really impressed with this performance of her till I finally did so. Now I get it.
Yes, for me, it was her voice, stunning, her musical intelligence, her beautiful facial features, her hair, but that was all from her rich multiracial DNA, right? But there was also ...her eyes. I counted at least five eyes movements, so expressive that they must have meant a clever understanding of the lyrics, not just the emotional effect produced by what she would call "a sad song" (at the 7:57-8:00 mark). These eyes meant more than sadness. Nathan, was I imagining things, was it simply, I don't know, a nervous reaction to the spotlight? No, i want, I need to believe that little Angelina was singing intelligently with her eyes too.
I often listen to this song and watch her performance noways got talent because it impressed me so much and I watched your reaction again and thought how speechless you were and how shocked you were too and it was a great reaction. It was very clear you were highly impressed
After she left stage the one judge said it sounded like she had been drinking whisky all her life.......because of her raspy voice....that man behind the stage says they were trying to get her to sing other types of songs but she only wanted to sing jazz.....
Angelina Jordan at 8 year's old Summertime Norway's Got Talent then at 9 years old, I Put A Spell On You ,by Scream Jay Hawkins---SHE WILL PUT A SPELL ON YOU!♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️😊
You have to compare this to Billie Holiday singing it as an adult. They are so similar that you will believe the same person is singing both renditions. It's as if Billie is reincarnated in AJ.
If you want to see a video where we we can first see a sledgehammer hint of her potential, check out the one her grandmother recorded in the studio facility of her music and arts school in Oslo when she was only 6 (probably just about to turn 7). She pestered her mother about entering into Norway Got Talent, but had to wait until she turned 7.
Thank you so much for reacting to Angelina. Recomend next: Angelina singing "I will survive" (2016) 10 years old !!! - th-cam.com/video/ma7sa_n7k-8/w-d-xo.html - This is actually a slightly hidden treasure among all her songs. AND remember, she's only 10 years old here!
Good choice! I always wonder why this is not reacted to more. She does an incredible rendition of this classic song by Gloria Gaynor. Unbelievably well done by a 10 year old, or at any age, quietly going under the radar. Anyone thinking she is not versatile enough? Well, here is one (of many) proof of the opposite 👍
I saw you do some reactions of Alan Walker, I did not know if you knew that Allen Walker went home to Sweden when Angelina was 10 years old and he wanted her to sing his songs with him while he was there. There is a video of Angelina is singing "Sing Me To Sleep" and "Faded" with Alan Walker.
It is so funny how you were paying close attention when the judges were talking. Pretty sure you did not understand the language. But it is easy to get wrapped up in the journey. 😁😁
Hi Nathan. That was a fun reaction of you to Angie. Do watch the English subtitled one, you'll get a kick out of what people say especially the judges at the end. I'll give you one to react to by her when she was 6 before all this. You should start from where it all began. “I who have nothing” Tom Jones & Shirley Bassey covers. She’s 6 in a sound booth at her school. th-cam.com/video/RjQZKBpVaes/w-d-xo.html “I’m a fool to want you” cover by Billie Holiday she’s 7 NGT Quarter finals a capella & haunting th-cam.com/video/6LIcQL5gLoY/w-d-xo.html “Bang Bang” cover by Nancy Sinatra she was 8 NGT semi finals th-cam.com/video/pcBoB49Gxn8/w-d-xo.html “Summertime” by George Gershwin she’s 8 Finals th-cam.com/video/bnpFsCNKzFg/w-d-xo.html Angie did “Summertime” again with a orchestra & at age 10 for a concert & changed it up abit. th-cam.com/video/stwF4ti1tbc/w-d-xo.html
Having seen a few auditions by adults for "talent-shows" - I guess it is harsh to force them to first watch this early audition and ask themselves "now - do you still think you have a bit of talent?". Also, it would destroy the most entertaining part of these shows - all the amazing people ready to go on TV to prove their bewildering lack of and insights to their own qualities. I love those who argue against the judges after having sung the entire song in a key never heard before while almost surgically missing every single note where it hurts the most at the age of 19 - with the self-confidence of a freight train becoming aware of a twig lying on the tracks. So I retract my suggestion. I want more of the "I have no idea that I lack talent in any form" crowd. I sometimes think about all the good talents that were in this series of NGT though. After the first audition, the buzz in Norway was more like the sound of an explosion. A child that would have won any talent show on the planet had just introduced herself. And everyone knew it. The competition new it and probably shrug in amazement thinking that this year - being runner-up would be amazing. At some point, some people must have sat and heard a little Elvis and Aretha sing for the first time and thought "alright, alright, alright - someone is going places with time". That feeling. (while remembering - she is jazzy - and that never does well on hitlists. Miles Davies is not the best selling artists of all times (The Spice Girls are way closer). Somehow I have no Spice Girls records, but plenty of Davis' records. Being one of the greatest is not always the same as selling most records ever. Pavarotti would agree. :-)
No, that wasn't Angelina's father. He can be seen in a video of Angelina at the end of one of her NGT performances but despite a search I am unable to find it. A more knowledgeable fan will probably come along and post the link for you.

OK, so, her other 3 performances on NGT are all _well_ worth reacting to also. Here are some good versions of those, so you don't pick the wrong ones: [grin] * th-cam.com/video/LXknLZDoRVQ/w-d-xo.html "I'm a Fool to Want You" [Billie Holiday], second round, a cappella (and no studio audience), at 8 [you *must* use this version - almost every other upload of this on TH-cam is an edited version that omits the entire bridge of the song] * th-cam.com/video/HCaDyiqs7Wg/w-d-xo.html "Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)" [Nancy Sinatra], live in the semifinals, accompanied by solo electric guitar (if you want to get the judges' post-song comments, wait till you've heard her performance, then switch to this video: th-cam.com/video/pcBoB49Gxn8/w-d-xo.html - it's in the wrong aspect ration, though, so that's why I'm saying you should only use it for the post-song stuff) * th-cam.com/video/nsBfBuc9d9I/w-d-xo.html "Summertime" [Ella Fitzgerald & Louis Armstrong], live in the finals, sung over a backing track but with a live trumpet player (turn on English captions to understand the pre- and post-song stuff) (Note: The artists in brackets are who she's basing her versions on, not who wrote the songs or performed them first.)
Yes, she is barefoot. She met a younger child who was so poor she was barefoot. Angelina gave the waif her shoes and vowed to perform without shoes until all the world's children had footwear. Angelina is awesome.

Not sure why her mother felt ratting her hair up for the first couple performances on NGT was necessary. In previous videos of her her hair is brushed out and looks good. Weird. Maybe she thought her daughter looking like she was raised by wolves contrasted with the pristine white dress. Gimmicky. Don't let it distract you though lol.

A couple of reactors did that and they were very well received. The original is one of a kind. And there have been many covers but none is as spectacular as Angelina's.
Oh, damn… you got the version without subtitles. Bummer! Here's the same video with subtitles (in the video itself, so you don't have to rely on TH-cam's "CC" captions): th-cam.com/video/d3gSho9yf88/w-d-xo.html (I see others have already pointed to this, but it can't be done too many times. [wink]) For future reference, when you see you're watching an AJ video that needs English captions, stop and search for an upload that has them (using, say, "English" or "Eng sub", or etc., in your search).
I see in the comments that a number of people have already posted links to this one, complete with the sub-titles, so here are the other three she did, in chronological order:
Performance Two: Acapella audition - I'm A Fool To Want You (Billy Holiday) th-cam.com/video/6LIcQL5gLoY/w-d-xo.html
Performance Three - Semi-final: Bang, Bang (Nancy Sinatra) th-cam.com/video/pcBoB49Gxn8/w-d-xo.html
Performance Four: Finale - Summertime (George Gershwin) th-cam.com/video/bnpFsCNKzFg/w-d-xo.html
There is no subtitled version for 'I'm A Fool To Want You', since it's just her singing, but the other two both have English sub-titles for your enjoyment.
You have to watch I put a spell on you. Absolutely amazing performance.
I can hear her thousand times and more
Wasn't that simply marvelous? I love how Angelina cues the music when she is ready to sing. She was so confident and totally in charge, amazing for such a wee little girl.
Great reaction
Please please checkout her other Norways got talent performances Summertime and Bang Bang you shot me down...amazing. 💚
Check out her performance of Summertime from the same show. It was her final song and she just killed it.
I totally agree David, it was brilliant.
Yes two thumbs up 👍. Looking forward to your next, you won't regret a single moment. God bless.
there is a translation version on her channel. You should now go listen to the original Billie Holiday version. I was not really impressed with this performance of her till I finally did so. Now I get it.
Magic.voice..she is so cute..she born to sing
Absolutely amazing Angelina
The recording of this performance went viral. 5 million views in a couple of weeks -- that's as much as the entire population of Norway.
Even at this age she had a titanium grip on the songs.
And the tooth! Don't forget the tooth!
Love it! You have this video with subtitle
Check out the song - I put a spell on you - done in black and white. She really is an old soul
I often listen to this song and watch her performance noways got talent because it impressed me so much and I watched your reaction again and thought how speechless you were and how shocked you were too and it was a great reaction. It was very clear you were highly impressed
Good job brother
Thank you!
After she left stage the one judge said it sounded like she had been drinking whisky all her life.......because of her raspy voice....that man behind the stage says they were trying to get her to sing other types of songs but she only wanted to sing jazz.....
Someone has said her hair is her super power!
She is from Oslo, NORWAY, she was 7 years old and won the contest she is amazing..
There is an english subtitle video for this so you can read what the judges say.
Angelina Jordan at 8 year's old Summertime Norway's Got Talent then at 9 years old, I Put A Spell On You ,by Scream Jay Hawkins---SHE WILL PUT A SPELL ON YOU!♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️😊
👍😊❤️
You have to compare this to Billie Holiday singing it as an adult. They are so similar that you
will believe the same person is singing both renditions.
Her next performance was bang bang than Summertime please keep them coming
Incredible
Amazing 🤩
Did you see how when she first walks on stage she looks about her and smiles - no nerves. She knows this is where she belongs.
She’s been drinking whiskey All her life
To have that voice
One judge said you can not teach you have to born with that voice
I saw you do some reactions of Alan Walker, I did not know if you knew that Allen Walker went home to Sweden when Angelina was 10 years old and he wanted her to sing his songs with him while he was there. There is a video of Angelina is singing "Sing Me To Sleep" and "Faded" with Alan Walker.
That is so cool! What a collab that would be!
Bergen is in Norway however its a great concert
Extremely complimentary they are. First guy lost words to say.
One of the judges said, at the end, she sounded like she's been drinking whiskey all her life. 😂
She’s 6 in a sound booth at her school. th-cam.com/video/RjQZKBpVaes/w-d-xo.html
“I’m a fool to want you” cover by Billie Holiday she’s 7 NGT Quarter finals a capella & haunting
th-cam.com/video/6LIcQL5gLoY/w-d-xo.html
“Bang Bang” cover by Nancy Sinatra she was 8 NGT semi finals
th-cam.com/video/pcBoB49Gxn8/w-d-xo.html
“Summertime” by George Gershwin she’s 8 Finals th-cam.com/video/bnpFsCNKzFg/w-d-xo.html
Angie did “Summertime” again with a orchestra & at age 10 for a concert & changed it up abit. th-cam.com/video/stwF4ti1tbc/w-d-xo.html
There is a version with english subtitles
You can turn on captions 🙂
Jazz song by an American Black Jazz singer Billie Holiday. I love Angelina singing Jazz
Angelina has already been working, & she is cuing the music, NOT giving a thumbs-up..
She's a professional, even @ 7 yrs old..
There is a version of that with English subtitles (th-cam.com/video/rI6ZhRk86Hs/w-d-xo.html). But, nervous, never.
She did not win because she was 7 and cute. She won because she was a star at seven
Thank you. Too right.
You need to listen to Angelina sing bang bang and listen to Billie Holiday's version. ❤🥰👍
I just heard Angelina's version of Diamonds are forever. Mind blowing
funny how u said a star is born, her full name is Angelina Jordan Astar =)
Question at the end of video they flashed on a man was that her father? I think it might have been. Just realized.
No, that wasn't Angelina's father. He can be seen in a video of Angelina at the end of one of her NGT performances but despite a search I am unable to find it. A more knowledgeable fan will probably come along and post the link for you.
@@alberttenfoot Angelina's father can be seen in the background of this video holding Angelina's little sister at the 6:28 and 6:34 mark of the original video.
Nathan if you enjoyed ( OURBAREFOOTPRINCESS ) i think you will enjoy her first audition which Angelina had to do in acapella it was brilliant
That was the second performance of the show; the judge's cut.
Try Angelina with Allan Walker in Consert in Bergen..👍
Can you listen to Nothing But Thieves?
OK, so, her other 3 performances on NGT are all _well_ worth reacting to also. Here are some good versions of those, so you don't pick the wrong ones: [grin]
* th-cam.com/video/LXknLZDoRVQ/w-d-xo.html "I'm a Fool to Want You" [Billie Holiday], second round, a cappella (and no studio audience), at 8 [you *must* use this version - almost every other upload of this on TH-cam is an edited version that omits the entire bridge of the song]
* th-cam.com/video/HCaDyiqs7Wg/w-d-xo.html "Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)" [Nancy Sinatra], live in the semifinals, accompanied by solo electric guitar (if you want to get the judges' post-song comments, wait till you've heard her performance, then switch to this video: th-cam.com/video/pcBoB49Gxn8/w-d-xo.html - it's in the wrong aspect ration, though, so that's why I'm saying you should only use it for the post-song stuff)
* th-cam.com/video/nsBfBuc9d9I/w-d-xo.html "Summertime" [Ella Fitzgerald & Louis Armstrong], live in the finals, sung over a backing track but with a live trumpet player (turn on English captions to understand the pre- and post-song stuff)
(Note: The artists in brackets are who she's basing her versions on, not who wrote the songs or performed them first.)
Yes, she is barefoot. She met a younger child who was so poor she was barefoot. Angelina gave the waif her shoes and vowed to perform without shoes until all the world's children had footwear. Angelina is awesome.
Now my friend youDo you have
Angelinaits no Cure for this
Here's a shorter version with subtitles: th-cam.com/video/rI6ZhRk86Hs/w-d-xo.html
She was 7 there! Always barefoot, (whole story about that! )
She sang Bohemian Rhapsody American got talent champions mama check that out I’ll be there be shocked your cry and you’ll be a happy man

Umm, Nate--she was giving a thumbs-up cue for her music 2 begin; just part of being a singer. Yeah.
Ok??
She ALWAYS sings barefoot. When she was 6 she came across a homeless little girl around her age in Iran ....she was barefoot so Angelina gave her her shoes. She vowed since that day 2 always sing barefoot. 6 yrs old for goodness sake.
Angelina Jordan & Republic Records Dropped her new Music video Million miles it's Beautifully
Done! Juliette plays Angelina, and her Uncle Michael plays her Grandfather you need to react!
Great reaction Thank you Please keep them coming th-cam.com/video/XA1_CUaM52I/w-d-xo.html
ok, let's jump right into a performance that sets Angelina apart from the pack. "I Put a Spell on You" th-cam.com/video/nwFloCPXzCs/w-d-xo.html. It was released when she was around 9 years old. Your jaw will drop. Before you watch, however, it might be great that you first take a look at the original th-cam.com/video/7kGPhpvqtOc/w-d-xo.html. You may want to do a 2 reactions in one episode. A couple of reactors did that and they were very well received. The original is one of a kind. And there have been many covers but none is as spectacular as Angelina's.
Try her rendition of 'Bang Bang' from Norway's Got Talent. Link: th-cam.com/video/HCaDyiqs7Wg/w-d-xo.html
[wink])
For future reference, when you see you're watching an AJ video that needs English captions, stop and search for an upload that has them (using, say, "English" or "Eng sub", or etc., in your search). Usually there's one out there to be found.
React too :
