They have more in common (same owner) than Porsche- Diesel and Porsche ever had. The Porsche- Diesel (tractor) factory was owned my Mannesmann and was later sold to Renault. So Porsche tractors do indeed have a connection to a manufacturer of cars.
I wish American brands had rivalries like the German cars. Audi, Porsche, BMW, and Mercedes all are arch-rivals, but still, at the end of the day, love and respect each other. They said yes as a favor to their sister/auntie.
So thusly the 924 was a Porsche and not a VW. This soured the relationship between the 2 companies. Mama would not allow him to do it because it would have as she told him Killed Grandpa Porsches other company Porsche. So yeah, German car companies do not get along that well either.
