    Hai sir i have a small doubt.... Please let me clear..... In laminar side velocity is high so as per bernoulli's principle pressure should be less right?because Pressure and velocity are in inversely proportional relation. but here how it will become high pressure side.

    • @shlok3172
      @shlok3172 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I had the same doubt. What I think is... Its not the bernoulli principle, but the coanda effect. So the airflow attaches itself more to the rough side, ending up propelling the ball in the rough side direction.

    • @abhinavmohanty1813
      @abhinavmohanty1813 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      To my understanding, his explanation is wrong. In reverse swing the ball moves towards the shinier side of the ball. Mind it, reverse swing happen late in the innings whence the rough side has lost significant mass. The shinier side is relatively heavier than the rough sode, hence in air, the ball dips towards the shiny heavier side.

    Why in that case balls without Seam also swing? Take a new smooth surface plastic ball (like table tennis ball) and it will swing better than the typical cricket leather ball.
    on the contrary, take a tennis ball and throw it with the Sling Arm action. it will also swing opposite to the way a typical smooth ball swings. there seems to be something more than just the Air working here. it seems it has something to do with Rotational Motion as well.

    Purpose of shinning is smaller the radius of that side. It effects to lower the air flow rate. Air flow rate is oppositely proportion to the pressure. That means, pressure of the shined side much higher than the other side. Force applied to the ball is higher from the high pressured side. That's why the ball swings. In my opinion.. 🙂

    Why do videos conflate rough side and smooth side fluid dynamics which is for older ball! New ball it has just got to do with the seam crating turbulence! While the ball is traveling forward it is rotating in the backwards direction people! Because that is how a bowler releases it, the ball is not stationary. Swing is not just a result of airflow there is also corrolis effect in play. It’s not a simple effect.
