After 3 years owning a Versys, I have to agree with pretty much everything that is in this review. It is basically a sports tourer and, unless I would add some after-market stuff, wouldn't really take it off road. So, kind of ADV for the street really. The motor is ok, without being a star. The bike is very comfortable for long rides, and really it is kind of ideal as a commuter, especially if you have a version with panniers and/or top box. A fun but also practical ride. A bit on the tall side, but otherwise very manageable for newbies.
Suzy is a a doll of a reviewer. To have such a well spoken, motorcycle savvy young lady do a m/c review is very refreshing. Very nice camera work and video editing.
Just bought one after owning the previous model, wow ! What a difference, after 40 yrs of biking this is close to perfect...really, and I thought the previous one was good, fast enough for the real world, flickable, comfier,60+ mpg, and no longer an ugly duckling DWARFE P.S. Kawasaki, still too bloody tall though !
This is the most worth buying ADV bike in China for now. just costs $14000 at today's exchange rate. which is the cheapest one in middle-size adventure imported bikes in China. I'm saving money for it!
Excellent review! This recently launched in India and I am thinking about it. My initial plan was to buy the new Triumph Bonnie Street Twin and customize it for touring, because I always tour two-up with my wife and the pillion comfort is important. If the pillion comfort on this is good, I'll consider buying this.
Mt. Etna is awesome. Rented a DL650 when I was there in 2012 for a detachment (which later prompted me to buy a DL650) and rode up to Mt Etna. Awesome roads going up and down and 5 foot snow banks when I got to the top haha. As for the bike that's the subject of this review. It looks kind of like a mini Multistrada. I'd consider buying one honestly 19inch wheel would make me more apt to do so. If you can't lube or adjust a chain without a center stand you need help. Both are easy tasks even without a centerstand. My understanding is the under slung muffler makes center stand installation nearly impossible.
Big improvement I think. Though not that hard to do if I'm honest... Shame about the vibes, I know some of you ladies love that but overall, it's high time they fixed that anyways ;-) Things are missing, but it's better...Though not *quite* there just yet... But, I guess that is a price point thing!
4:42 Only one headlight working ? " I like the black its very stealth" the 4wheelers will quote that later and running you over when they could not see the black bike at night. Would have been helpful if she had mentioned if she could reach the ground with her feet,
All the new rubber means that isn't gone. The solution for this on your '11 is to put some electrical tape where the fairing contacts the metal causing vibration buzz.
had a test ride the other day, great for the money but coming from 1000cc bike felt under-powered so i have to try the 1000 version. good review not in-depth but okay.
Ok i'm shocked AND confused! Januray 9 2015, the channel Motorcycle USA published the review of the Versys 650, in Sicily. One day later, you guys from Bike World are in Sicily too!! What's the deal, why making all these miles? I'm utterly curious!! Why is everyone in Sicily?? ahahah
I've sat on one and I'm 5"10 and you can just about but the balls of both feet down but not both heels however leaning on one side so the heel connect to the ground isn't very leany at all.. Might be a problem going off road but on road you should be more than alright :)
Looks? Joined common rabble, he looks like any other bike, now. Lost his unique appearance. Less vibrations, slightly more hp and other minor improvements are fine. About the absent center stand. I really have no need for one. Vacation once or twice a year, I am perfectly fine to lubricate chain on a side stand with help from a friend. It takes 2 minutes tops. For the rest of the year there is paddock stand. Maybe I am just using this bike wrong but center stand would decrease my ride height and lean angle :-D
Not about to buy one but if I had a windfall come my way well let's see 250+ mile range it'll power wheelie in 1st and 2nd it's smooth comfortable it loves twisties and I've seen how easy it is to add the aftermarket crash bars and it's whispering "hey it's so cool not to have to be the baddest mf on the road lets go"🙄☯️
Top speed? and can i cruise the interstate at 80mph with it comfortably? Looking for a cross-country bike and a commuter all in one. But also something fierce!
I had this exact problem myself! I've decided versys, it's better looking heard the suspension and fork travel is better and several reviewers saying the versys engine is better than the vstrom and gives more umphf.. Strange as the vstrom is a vtwin!
the 2015 model of Versys / ER6 are safe to buy? Has Kawasaki solved the Valve issues? anyone here care to share some confirmed news about this? please...
have you sent back your V2012 to Kawasaki authorize dealer workshop? Suggest you to do so before the machine break down.. else you will need to spend a lot (depends on the regions you stay i guess).
John W it was a complete breakdown. The good thing it happens just before 200miles untill the end of warranty so they change the engine completely and new engine is ok ( 30000 so far) By the way completely in love with this bike.
it means that you are lucky they didnt charge you with big amount of money while engaging in replacing the whole engine.. in Malaysia, Indonesia & Thailand.. many people get into trouble because of this issue. Congrats bro!
suzy, please do all the reviews from now on. yes, you're beautiful and yes, your voice and accent are just delicious...but your reviews are thorough, relevant, and engaging. well, your beauty helps to engage surely, but you're still relevant and thorough!
Brakes aren't the same as on the "Sport bike", whichever one you mean (300, 636, 1000). The 300 has the same caliper, but a different brake discs. And the bigger Ninjas have completely different brake Setups. Otherwise nice Review.
+747nemesis You should be fine with a third party lowering kit, for about $150. The Speedy kit lowers it by 1.5" to just over 800mm. I'm told the Gel seat lowers it down even further but not sure how much.

3 years on and the only change Kawasaki has done, apart from different paint jobs is, wait for it, a gear indicator in the LCD. From 2007, the bike has has ABS as an option, but it's STILL the same engine, the same snatchy throttle, no traction control, no ride-by-wire, too little power on the freeway or when loaded. Really Kawasaki, you guys are cheap and lazy.
Except it has all the ingredients of a sport tourer... Street tires, 17" wheels front and back, wheels that are also cast instead of spoked, non off-road styled plastic travel luggage instead of the sturdier aluminum boxes and their is no switch to shut off the ABS system, doesn't have enough suspension travel or enough ground clearance. I'm not saying you can't ride it off road, I'm just saying sounds like a road biased sport touring bike to me. Moral of the story, both the 650 and 1000 are incredible bikes for the money. Good job Kawasaki.
Tim Smith Agreed! with few modifications it can be a complete adv tourer. Sport tourers are faired and looks more like sports bike, whereas versys 650 looks completely like adv tourer. Or maybe, it's just a new genre of motorcycle.
+Richard Nope I think this girl should tuck her hair in under her helmet when driving. If the police see her long hair they will suspect it's a woman driving. She can probably drive carefully so I hope she doesn't get caught.
Thats why I would get white. Makes any idiots around you on the road nervous until you've gone past them and they realise they could have cut you off but didn't. So yeah! a safe bike in many respects only if its in white.
The THIRD time in a row, I've tried to find a review of this bike, only to find annoying music right through. What the fuck is the point of this? In what way does it enhance the video? Would you do a music video with someone talking all the way through? Ridiculous....

Love the old gen Versys. This will be my next bike for sure. sporty and usable. cheers

Wow, I can't take my eyes off this lady.
I don't remember the bike at all !
What bike?!
You my friend are in love!
She’s hot. She did a review of the Vulcan S shortly after this, also on YT.
Thanks for the review. Very decent and thorough and no wild cutting of corners that would lose one one's license if caught.
I wish she addressed the problem of the Versys being a very tall bike. How does she handle putting her feet on the ground at a red light?
Mt. Etna is awesome. Rented a DL650 when I was there in 2012 for a detachment (which later prompted me to buy a DL650) and rode up to Mt Etna. Awesome roads going up and down and 5 foot snow banks when I got to the top haha.

cracking bike at a good price, only gripe is the screen adjusters, but that is Avery minor point. great review thanks.
Definitely nicer than last gen. Unless you're a die hard Kawi fan, it's going to be tough to take this over Yam's Tracer, even with price reduction.
the new motorcycle versys is very interisting for your new form , but the before was very beautiful.
The one lamp on one lamp off normal beam really drives my ocd nuts.
@4:36 min- Does it comes with a option to fit garmin or one has to diy ?
Hi Suzy, really love looking at your clips / reviews, any chance you reviewed the V Strom 650? 2017/8 ?
I loved Suzy
Enjoyed the review. Very informative.
Barry
is there still a buzzing coming from somewhere under the fairing at 6,000 rpms. I have 33,000 trouble free miles on my 2011 .
All the new rubber means that isn't gone. The solution for this on your '11 is to put some electrical tape where the fairing contacts the metal causing vibration buzz.

Vespertili Kildem Kawasaki invites them to review their bike and pays for flight, hotel, food and expenses. All these reviews on motos are bias.
Completety agree go to your dealership and test ride the bike. Giving these people free holidays and adding to the carbon footprint!!
Excellent review
I think I'm falling in love. Gotta have that bike.
Great Vid. Is the VERSYS saddle standard or an after market. Looks great Love the versys
Good review
Thanks!
Rubber handle bar mounts just turned my desire to replace my 2007 Versys with a new one to about 3/10.
Also, what vibes?
Very good review. To the point.
Bring back Suzy!
awesome review but can paniers and box be a problem for pillion ? and what is ur height ....does the bike suit well for 5'9 person

Kawasaki Versys 650 or Suzuki 650 V-Strom? What do I do?
I had this exact problem myself! I've decided versys, it's better looking heard the suspension and fork travel is better and several reviewers saying the versys engine is better than the vstrom and gives more umphf.. Strange as the vstrom is a vtwin!
This is a very good review! :-)
Great Review!
I like the old over-under headlights better ... this new look is so stereotypically the "I'm a fast mean asian motorcycle" look.
Daniël Boomsma Me too!
I like Yellow and black in sports bikes, but Kawasaki hardly goes for yellow color.
the 2015 model of Versys / ER6 are safe to buy? Has Kawasaki solved the Valve issues?

That was for the toll pass.

would you recommend this bike for someone who's around 5"7 ?
747nemesis I'm 5'11" and I can just barely have both feet flat on the ground. But aftermarket lowering kits are available.
Oh crap!! I wanted to buy this so bad .

I feel drawn to those unsightly knobs.
Excelente moto,
How tall are you?
Nice review
gostei do visual da moto e do lugar escolhido para filmar
Prefer the front on the older model though.
i agree with you. the new ones front is ugly.
I must admit, I clicked on the video because of the reviewer. I was like, what? Versys and ladies? That's interesting 🤔
aguante la versis España de argentina los queremos
How is she tall?
Does the bike come with the girl though?
Adventure Sport Tourer..
well is it..?!#
Guys she was looking for vibration but couldn't find it *insert dirty thought*
Guys focus! Focus on the bike! That's why you're here lol
Nice design.
600? You mean 650, right?
+J.P. Stone it's like 50 too big :-)
bravo !
Would love to ride that.
Bikes not too bad either.

I think you would like Saudia Arabia, where women can't drive and slave labor is unspoken of. Let me show you to your "camp".

A parallel twin that's a sports tourer? Nah!
Pretty cool seeing a chick review a bike. As far as the bike goes, never owned a kawasaki, but this seems like a half decent adventure bike option.
like to ride that
!!!!
How can you be riding with rubber shoes? its not right ,get yourself some proper riding shoes
you can ride with whatever you like lol
ride with sandals and no helmet then see what happens when you fall off the bike
I always ride wearing rubber
Плохо,что ничего не понял
can i go with you..
