Idk that jacket about said it all seems like someone was after a car they loved the look of and got fooled on the auction block. And a 400's oil passages can be found in one Google search. I enjoy the hunt don't get me wrong but I definitely like being educated to get things done. Coming from some guy who put a hotrod together on a regular ass 40 hour check. Just saying do your homework and you'll go far. Look at what you buy before you buy it just like his buddy with jag they both could take a lesson from the older crowd who played with them.

If he was looking for a specific one, like the one in the rear just under the head, there is a difference depending on year and casting because they aren't always there and weren't always threaded. There can be anywhere from 3-5 oil galleries that run the length of the block. They may have also thought it was a Gen III/IV LS block, which is common for crate motors, and they are also different.

The issues is the valvetrain. You can run 8000 rpm for a short period of time...
Chevy V-8 has about a 4000 to maybe a 4500 rpm power band. So if you make power at 8000 rpm, you will need a 4000 rpm stall converter - that honda in the lane next to you will beat you off the line unless you rev it to the moon.
For the street, run the 400.

I’m only saying this because I really like what you’re doing on here. Hopefully more people will get into cars because of you and not feel too intimidated. There’s a starting place for everyone. Thats said (and other commenters have mentioned this also) but that engine has a long stroke which means it can make a lot of torque but not rev super high. Turbos will definitely make it rev higher and if you’re not careful could end up busting it up pretty good. Not that you shouldn’t do turbos just make sure you know what to look for and what to stay away from in the process. I’ve also heard about heating issues with the 400 so make sure your cooling system is stout enough to compensate for the extra heat. And one more thing, you shouldn’t really have an issue with it with the transmission you have but you also generally gauge the durability of transmissions based of off how much torque they are rated at. Hope you have fun with this build it’s looking absolutely stunning and I can’t wait to see it finished!!!
