After experimenting with different products ive found the best and cleanest method to be alcohol rubbing pads as it gently removes the outer layer and enables you to focus on smaller areas
If you decide to remove an entire panel then the best solution to use would be purple power concentrate to soak the panel overnight enabling the sticky soft touch coating to easily rub off. However if you have the patience and time use medical grade alcohol pads to be able to clean buttons rather than entire panels.
I have the 2014 and they told me at the dealership that I would have to remove the whole front bumper just to replace the bulb. :/
Yes on that later model its more integrated in the bumper, but not on the 2006
