I agree,a valve spring compressor isnt that expensive. However, years ago i made a tool similar to change valve stem seals with heads ON the engine, using compressed air to keep valves closed. If one was going to use compressed air to change balve stem seals ,theres a small valve spring compressor you can buy that makes that job easier too.
Sure you can pull the threads, or most likely, the wrench will fail right where the hole is and all the pressure is concentrated, after a few springs you will loose your teeth! 😮
This is a example of being cheap and kicking yourself in the nuts. if you start doing this on a regular basis with any type of performance setup, you will be figuring out how to repair heads. Do not do thisa.

Just buy the right tool for $30 and change both the intake and exhaust springs at the same time.
You can do the same with a hammer and socket. To do install the keepers get the proper tool to not risk the threads in the head.
RIP the alu edges
Very good idea especially for those who will do it once, can’t believe there are so many negative people.
There’s always somebody with something to say! It’s the same concept as all the expensive tools but this was free.
Yip it's not the correct tool for the job but if you are only doing the job once or twice it's not worth buy a expensive tool. Thanks for sharing 👍
Quick note for youtube viewers of this video: DO NOT LET THIS GUY WORK ON YOUR ENGINE!!
Why that was genius
I bought the tool and I've been on one spring for 2 hours. Lmao
Edit 6 hours
@pizza4prezident143 so keep you away from engines too ✔️
Quick and easy way to strip or damage the rocker threads. Please people do not do this
I have steel heads, it’s a 500 car, can i do this if I use a wrench instead of an impact

😮
if i was in a pinch then yea i would use this method
Yeah, don't worry about that rocker tray bolt hole. I see Hendricks racing doing this, too. 😅😅
Badass, Thank you
Or make a dent in the rocker cover gasket surface cool tho
Now how do you put it back on?
I will make another video this evening! I’ll be cleaning the valves up and putting new springs and seals on
To quote Tommy Chong, " magic dust"
Nooooo !
Just buy the damn tool for the job
