Também tivemos Ave Verum cantado por um quarteto (felizmente eram amigos porque eu era tão pobre como um rato de igreja). Não somos parentes dada esta simultaneidade de acontecimentos no contínuo tempo-música-espaço? A sério, este coral cantou lindamente. o ritmo era anormalmente lento, mas passados alguns segundos era sublime.
50 years ago, a small college choir that I was in performed this song. I had no previous knowledge of Latin, so it was an interesting experience. Thanks for a beautiful performance and for bringing back good memories.

Yes, I know, this was done in 2021.... So beautifully sung !!! I could hear the 4 parts so clearly, and everyone sang just perfectly !!!! Thank you so much for this !!!! Only thing I would add is that the pace is just a little too slow for me.... :) You ALL have given me and the rest of the world an awesome respite from the utter craziness going on out here in parts of the world in July, 2023 !!! Fun fact: Hans Zimmer used this piece as a blueprint for a section of his score to *THE LION KING* (1994) -- namely, the aftermath of the stampede, where Simba finds and tries to revive Mufasa.
I hadn’t seen the remake of Lion King so just looked up the soundtrack. Ave Verum is definitely in there, beautifully mixed in as well. I’ve always been a fan of Hans Zimmers work, even more so now!

Its so amazing as a choir student myself to see the Soprano and Bass tell the story as the outer voices, while Alto and Tenor help the flow in inner. It's powerful to let the Basses have a time to shine in the spotlight as a outer voice with the Sopranos.
Below Luke says "...it’s somewhere amongst class, grace, eternity, angels, and an otherworldly quality…". For me it's eternity... Mozart had a direct connection to the Divine.
I've heard Bernstein, now have heard your small group. Just as good! I expected the usual difficulty when the suprano voices fall apart at the " In Cru" Wow you suprano voices are so good, and right on like I have never heard. All voices were to what I consider perfect. The accompaniment was a perfect fit. Does it show that I am amazed?

Not only latin. Germans would pronounce it like this as well. Very interesting for native german speakers.
I think the Latin pronunciation here is perfect. Hissing sounds were not welcome in the church. And rightly so, I think.
