    Hi mikey. unfortunately I’ve been struggling with this. I can’t seem to get the camera to come on. When I throw it in reverse, It says “check your surroundings” but the video is black. It came on once before I completed the wiring. I even ordered another camera set so that I could go through the process of elimination and can’t even get the new camera to come on even using all new cables. I’m suspecting that it’s not getting power. I’m using a add-a-circuit to connect into the 15amp cigarette fuse.
    I suppose I will try a rectifier with t-tap just as you did. Would you help link me to an ebay or amazon add to buy it? I want to make sure that I get the correct one. thanks in advance.

      I don’t see where in the engineering menu it as pal or ntsc. I do have the rearview camera setting on SVRC. I will try the other two options later but I think I have already tried that.
      Now I think it is indeed getting power because when I disconnect the power to the camera and put the gear in reverse, the screen doesn’t change to all black screen. Whereas with the power connected, the screen will change to all black when I put it in reverse.
      If you can post a link to the camera you bought that would be great too. I want to try with exactly the same hardware you have.

    Hey Mikey, subscribed to your channel! Love all the work you're doing for W204 owners. I'm looking to install a backup camera myself and was just wondering if there's a particular mounting area that you think provides the best view? I'm looking at cameras that are mounted via the license plate bulb, the cameras integrated into the trunk handle housing, and the cameras that can be mounted beside the license plate bulbs where there's a plastic cover piece with no purpose. I'd assume that mounting it in the OEM location would be best, but I don't even know where that is. Also, do you know of any backup cameras where you'd be able to adjust the parking guidelines? Or do most of the aftermarket cameras built for the W204 have pretty accurate parking lines? Thanks!

    • @MIKEYZVLOGZ
      @MIKEYZVLOGZ  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would go for the dynamic parking guide lines and never trust the parking lines ... they are never 100% accurate ... I have both sensors and guidelines and still only make sure I go til it beeps and sensors orange rather then red and as for the guide lines they are off by about 100mm .... I mainly prefer the trunk handle camera as it is more centre compared to the license plate light camera.. plus swapping them out for less looks so much nicer... there are so many options now ... also theres even an option where u can install a camera in the spot designed for it...theres a cutout that can accompany a camera on the rear trim piece where the camera goes..so I guess the choice is yours where u decide to install it ... just do some research before hand and be sure it's where u want it... like I said the only difference would most probably be how it looks .... and to your liking

    About the positive cable, can’t you just plug it to that blue “15” fuse?

    • @MIKEYZVLOGZ
      @MIKEYZVLOGZ  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      u can do that but the only reason i recommend a switched power source..or a switched fused..meaning it only gives power when u switch on your ignition.... is becuz a fuse that is always on will mean your camera will run constantly ... so if u had a led ..it would be on always... hence why i suggest a switched power source... i know alot of ppl do it with the blue fuse at the rear fuse panel in the boot... and it does work all well and true... i guess its personal preference with longevity of your camera... hope u get what im saying

      Thanks for the answer! I ordered a camera today, one of those boot handle cameras. It doesn’t have any LED, so, if I connect the positive in the 15 fuse, will it consume any energy while the car is parked?

    • @MIKEYZVLOGZ
      @MIKEYZVLOGZ  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DiogoSilva-hr8ee no it will not ... the fuse is a switched fuse ... but it also means as long as ur car is on the camera will always be on aswell...hence why i like to use the reverse light so it will on turn on wen u engage reverse....but in all honesty alot of ppl connect it ur way and it is fine..it will not drain any battery as it is a switched power source...so if thats what u want to do ..its ok aswell....wish u all the best with ur install

    Simply put. You need to be in the right fakra cable based on your model and year Mercedes. I am in a 2012. 3 fakras exposed with a very specific female end to make it all happen. Also needs the male to hook to the video(yellow rga cable)

      well done mate... so its all dependant on your model and type of fakra connectiom?

      MIKEYZ VLOGZ yes. Just ensure you are in right connection port. And even then you need the right end. For me, I saw a lot of other year models and not one for 2012. Connections are different
