The art of conversation and storytelling is dead our family business was a town / country pub in rural Ireland. The TV put pay to that, when the mobile phone came along... well enough said, however my father and mother didn't tolerate them. We were one of the last pubs you could enjoy a chat or a story from one of our regulars, just before the morning after drink driving and smoking ban closed more than half the pubs in Ireland. I miss the characters most have now died. Rogers's oration and descriptive analogies are a blast from the past. God Bless you Sir.
Roger - I hope you remain in good health. I was a friend of Ailsas when we were 16. Helped you put the traction engine together in the car park at Rands and chased a couple of Greehhall ? balloons, one taking out a dry stone wall. Moved darn sarf as you ventured into canal boating. Fond memories as a passenger in your 7 series BMW down the lanes (cant remember name) past the sewage works, bouncing off the grassy 'curbs' to keep the car on the road on the way to Rands. Many a pint of Robinsons with Fred and yourself in The Rodney. Good days.... Best Regards - Peter
Sir! Your ability to tell a story is an
art in its self! I also enjoyed the tales relating to Fred. Thank you.
