ATTENTION: This guitar may be out of stock when you view this video. I've been sitting on releasing this for months and months! I just wanted to release it because so many people have asked me about the demo on this guitar! Here it is!
Ive been looking to get one for a couple months and they just went back to 3-4 months before they have new stock again. I wound up having to order B-stock - ill let you know if B-stock is worth looking at when it gets here
So B-stock arrived last night. I have to say for a B-stock you would be hard pressed to find the issues which are entirely cosmetic. The finish on the center neck well of the body and the horns feels rough but you cant see the issue. There were some scuff marks around the 5th and 7th frets which you could see if you looked really close but you cant feel them. The electronics pocket cover has some minor damage around one of the screw holes. Other than that, it was set up- the action was good out of the box and the intonation was good all the way up both necks. I spent about 2 hrs checking it out last night and couldnt find anything wrong beyond those cosmetic issues. I contacted them to see if they could give me an idea of what was wrong on the one they pulled for me, they wont. I will say they were really great to buy from and I will have no problem buying anything else from them in the future.
That is one bad-ass guitar. Reminds me of the 80’s when bands used to play these on stage. Case included! That’s a great price! The case alone is worth quite a bit of money being so large! I don’t know how they can make it so affordable. No wonder they are always out of stock.
I've waited for nearly a year and a half for this guitar to be available. I could no longer wait. I had to go elsewhere and plan on changing the pickups to get the sound that I want. I thank you for preseting this video. It shows me that there are many other options other than gibson and epiphone.
it's been out for a while tho, mine's almost two years old and no gibson employees have contacted me in that time! most excellent guitar for playing Hotel Bavaria!
I've been waiting for this review for ages and now it finally pops up 3 months after you put it out! Weird! What a fabulous affordable rock icon, HB knocked it out of the park with this one! Thanks Max.
Xaaaaaa-naaaaa-duuuuuuu-uuuuu... Seriously, every time I see a doubleneck like this, I automatically think of Rush or Led Zeppelin. Lifeson and Page made this an iconic style of guitar. I'd consider one if I wasn't 5'5" and it wouldn't dwarf me.
I've had one of these for just over a year and I can't say enough about it. It had the normal little things that had to be addressed with Harley Benton axes out of the box, such as setup, intonating and just a little edge of fret sharpness (really not bad at all). However, for the money and what you're getting for it, I'm over the moon with this babe. I didn't think that I would be able to cross a doubleneck off of my bucket list, because I just couldn't justify the cost, but HB made it possible. Keep on rockin Max!
I bought one 6 months ago. I normally have mostly high end guitars and I hesitated to by this, but as you normally don't play a double neck very much, I didn't want to spent too much money. I can only agree that for the price it has exceeded my expectations. I've been having a Led Zeppelin/ Rush hour once a week ever since. It's heavy, has neck dive, is somewhat uncomfortable to play (12-string ) sitting down, but despite of that I think I I'm going to keep it because despite the negative it's also great fun.
Just checked the US link: "In stock within 12-15 weeks", but looks like you can 'pre-order'. Not surprised their runs on such a dream guitar are buying out so quickly! Thanks for the review and a chance to hear it.
Yes!!! Finally in stock again 11 weeks till the gift arrives. Happy with my belated birthday gift. I totally agree with you, on the issue, you should own one of these guitars at some point in your life. So take my money!!!!!
I got mine today after 8 months. Man it is a beast. It is heavy as All Fs. There are tail strap buttons. The lower one is really needed if you stand and it neck dives something fierce. Upper button seems fine if you are sitting. Very, very well made. And pretty much in tune. Nothing wild. Needs a pro setup though. But it isn't unplayable. Just more preference for the action. Are there little things, sure but so minor I wouldn't even care. Like the 12 string neck is lighter color then the 6 string neck. I kind of dig it. I'm guessing they forgot to stain it after roasting it. Not sure if that is an issue or will effect the wood down the line. I'm sure some oil will help as the Jatobo wood is pretty tough. I'll have to ask.
I'm getting one at the end of the year .... got a Family and responsibilities. One obvious thing about Harley Benton Doubled Neck, is the fact that you have easier and better upper fret access, as compared to Epiphone or Gibson Double Neck guitars. When I get mine, I am mounting a top mounting FXR Floyd Rose on the 6 string, a 12 bridge saddle and Locking Grover Mini Tuners. I owned 2 Ibanez lawsuit aka: injunction models. One cherry red and one vintage white ala Don Felder. Loved them. Theye were identical to Gibson and sooo much cheaper.
I was always thinking Epiphone because I knew Gibson was out of the question cost to ability wise and I don’t like the slight adjustment made to the horns that Harley Benton did. But I’m sold. This will be my double neck model in my collection. Unless I make my own. And yes I can but I’d probably bypass the hassles and by a quality kit and upgrade the electronics and hardware myself. Maybe Harley Benton has a kit for one of these. I think Harley Bentons quality to price can’t be beat. Thanks Max.
Well, I ordered mine last August and just got notification that it left Germany yesterday and is now in the States on it's way to me! Should be here tomorrow, and I'll let you know what I think when it arrives. Stoked!
@@GuitarMAXMusic While waiting, I built my first guitar; A full sized replica of Robbin Crosby's "Big Red" . Used a JS 32 Jackson neck after hearing how well you liked it. Couldn't be happier and it is HUGE!
@@GuitarMAXMusic Just got mine in! To say that I am impressed would be an understatement. The build quality is unbelievable. Fit and finish are as nice as any guitar that I have and better than most. Gonna give it a chance to acclimate then I am going to put new strings on and plug it in tomorrow. Thanks so much for the heads up on this one. BTW, the Thomann site is saying 6-8 weeks backordered but there are B-stock available at this time.

What was the reverb you used? It has an awesome shimmer. Also the intonation didnt sound as good on the 12 string as it did the with 6 string - did you feel any issues with the fretwork? I'm sure that this guitar + a premium setup is a perfect match
Because of the different string gauges, the intonation will never be 100% dead on with the octave strings on the 12 string neck. But I think that's part of what gives the 12 string the unique sound.
Ha MAX....I always appreciate you tuning the guitars before playing them. That matters to a lot of us out here. Thanks. I really like this guitar, and at a fraction of the Gibson price it really is a good mom Gibson choice. I think I am going to get one. You are the best man. Don't stop.
Have a Dean EDS-1275-clone, but would love to try this. While 3 times more expensive the Dean Gran Sport double-neck certainly has its issues too. Like fret-sprout, badly cut nuts in sticky plastic, the electronic components are junk and soldering looks like my first attempts as a kid. It is based on Gibson's circuit with a double-throw 3-way for neck-select in front of a standard SG pickup-select/volume/tone-circuit, but with some quirks. When asking Dean for a diagram all I got was a picture of a drawing on a napkin with no description of components.

Hi Max...as always very very well done...l'd like to buy one after selling my Epiphone double neck(great guitar but too heavy, with some problems of neck diving and with the 12 strings headstock too long...Is this better balanced with that countured body???l hope so...l will keep you informed if l' purchase this 18 strings👍👍👍🤣🤣🤣Cheers from Italy 🎸🎸🎸
It would have been good to hear the middle position (both PUPs engaged) on the 6 string neck with really low gain to see if the iconic live Jimmy Page Stairway Solo sound was there. Sure, some low output (7.5k) T Top replica pickups would be the classic Gibson Double neck Tone, but it would have been interesting to see how close the Harley could get to those iconic tones.
I have the Vester double neck (company went out of business) which has individual intonation saddles for all 12 strings. Did the Peavey Hydra have that also ?
Yep, out of stock again. Over a 2 month wait until back in stock but I ordered one anyway. I'm guessing they just don't make many of these because I can't see them selling a ton. Seriously niche guitar but yeah, I've always wanted one. Thanks Max for the heads up on this one.
I have seen Steve Howe playing "And You and I" on his white Gibson ES1275 a couple of times..... Don Felder, Steve Miller and obviously Jimmy Page are other notable players of this iconic Gibson guitar. Glad the HB copy is a playable one
Or....non Gibson double neck. Would love to see you review a JCM 2000 TSL 100 Triple Super Lead. Even though they had their problems I have a 2002 that works and sounds fantastic, at least to me. Thanks for your cool job you have man.
Hey MAX, great dirty tone! Is that a custom preset? If it is I'd love to let the name of it, or even better you doing a follow up video about tones in the GTX.
There are also Gear4Music double neck guitars and these are even cheaper but i don't know if they are any good. On YT you only find demos from Gear4Music and i think they are a bit biased.... maybe you could check one of these out or maybe you already know the brand.
I ordered a Harley Benton fan fret guitar from the Thomann website on the 15th of February and it said it would arrive on the 17th of February. Idk how long it takes to ship to the U.S, but I was wondering if you could help me figure out when it would realistically get here. This is my first experience with Harley Benton and it has me a little worried. -thank you
Pretty rad. First one i saw, Chad And Jeremy in like '65. TV show with a 'High Voltage" or something sticker between the pick up set. Never played a 12 string. Here, wonder why they chose to have the covered pups for the 6 string rather than vs vs. Not only for sound but just looks weird.
I feel like you didn't have any 12 string demo material ready... Also, does it stay in tune? I worry about neck warp on a budget guitar. Love the channel & thanks for putting this vid out!
For Harley Benton owners, are Roswell pick-ups on par with your typical entry level guitars (example Jackson JS-22 or any other 200 dollar guitar) or do they actually have some quality to them? Do they feedback when cranking the amp up?
They're decent. Some say that they're a bit flat sounding, but generally any Harley Benton pickups which are branded are really good quality. I use a Harley Benton with PAF-style Wilkinsons in the studio; no feedback issues, even with an extremely gainy Diezel or Marshall style sim. I've tried Roswells but haven't really worked them into the ground yet, but they seem real good for the price. They don't have any issues I know of and honestly sound great when noodling around (again, I'd love to test them in the studio).
Max, when you are performing of recording have you ever used a 12 string? Also, was the 12 string neck tuned down a step? Lots of nice texture. It might be fun to use a looper with it.
dude, it makes me so happy that you've tried to convert lbs into kg's. sometimes it makes me a little bit angry when people just use lbs in videos even though they know 90% of the world uses kilograms. thank you for that

1:10 I love the video game! GH1, 2, and 80's have the Gibson EDS-1275 in the Unlock Shop. :D
Honest review. Compare to Firefly's version?
Yeah, I'm going to do that!
Hey MAX, great dirty tone! Is that a custom preset? If it is I'd love to let the name of it, or even better you doing a follow up video about tones in the GTX.
Someone should do a review of the tone of your amp .
It wouldn't be pretty .
You should get one of those Felix Martin double necks on the show
There are also Gear4Music double neck guitars and these are even cheaper but i don't know if they are any good.
On YT you only find demos from Gear4Music and i think they are a bit biased.... maybe you could check one of these out or maybe you already know the brand.
Max , Harley Bentons ...there pretty big on Scarf joint's ..I am thinking it probably does??, IF'ya get a chance lmk thx
Nice guitar there brother !
Can you try and get your hands of a Line 6 Variax Shuriken 🤙🏽
I ordered a Harley Benton fan fret guitar from the Thomann website on the 15th of February and it said it would arrive on the 17th of February. Idk how long it takes to ship to the U.S, but I was wondering if you could help me figure out when it would realistically get here. This is my first experience with Harley Benton and it has me a little worried. -thank you
Thanks, it is impressing!
Doublenecks, you either love'em or hate'em, I don't need one but I'd love to have one....a lo-cost one, that is.
I’ve got my chibson version on order can’t wait to beef that thing up
You should take a look at gear for music's double necks
They are between like 200 to 300 dollars
Thank you
Does that guitar come with a back brace? 😂
@@anon-fq3ud cool. thanks for the info!
The wilkinson pickups they used to use were so much better but still entry level.
It’s really not that good but for the price, it’s as good as others
Max, when you are performing of recording have you ever used a 12 string? Also, was the 12 string neck tuned down a step? Lots of nice texture. It might be fun to use a looper with it.
STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN
liked, subbed, hit the little bell icon - now all i need is a good 12 string acoustic 😊
7:00 man. That one struck hard.
dude, it makes me so happy that you've tried to convert lbs into kg's. sometimes it makes me a little bit angry when people just use lbs in videos even though they know 90% of the world uses kilograms. thank you for that
6:56 best line ever lol
