And Max, just so you know, Stephen Marmosec (I hope I got the spelling right) and I came up with the wiring for these. George from Firefly wanted a wiring harness with only one volume and one tone. Stephen approached me for some hints. I remembered working on a 1965 Moserite doubleneck some years ago that only had one volume and one tone. That became the basis for the wiring harness.
I really enjoyed my visit with you, and I don't own a double neck gaiter, but I have often thought about maybe getting one one day! I'm impressed with the look and sound of this Firefly, and the price is a plus! Thanks for the demo!😊
i’m glad I was not drinking coffee when you said this was from Firefly, because the first thing I thought was “WTF!!?” next thing I thought was “too bad it’ll be sold out by the time I see this“
You jump on guitars garden and you can grab one real quick. Max just put this video up a couple hours ago man. There's a good possibility if you jump over there right now you might still be able to grab it last time I was able to do the same thing with the baritone and a couple other fireflies in the past like the Explorer and the V
Tune the 12 down a step or in open D. Leo Kottke said of playing 12 string: “You spend half your time tuning the guitar, and the other half of your time playing out of tune.”
Mine arrived today. So cool! 12 string sounds great! Need to remove the plastic from the 6 string pickups and make a few tweaks (fret buzz), but this thing is solid as Hell, feels good, and way nicer than the Epiphone doubleneck I tried a few weeks ago. Also the case is nice. Can't wait to put this thing through its paces. *** Update*** loving this thing! By the way I hadn't noticed at first that it has 22 frets on both necks vs. 20 on the Gibson EDS-1275 and 21 on the Epiphone G-1275. I'll take that extra weight for that extra range.
dude no joke, I was watching your review of the SG type model from a year ago and I saw this on the website and wanted to see if you had a review on this and it wasn't there... come back 5 mins later you've uploaded a video of this very guitar so I think I might have to buy it...
Hello I just received my white double neck firefly a week ago it is awesome guitar plays beautifully well worth every dime thanks for all your great reviews look forward to seeing more take care🎸🎸
I have three Firefly's. Resonator (haven't seen that on the sight for a while) the 335 red w/white stripe and just got the Les Paul type for Christmas. This might be my next purchase, thanks for the review and have never had a big issue that was not solved by guitarsgarden. These have all been great guitars, I recommend them highly!
This is probably gonna be my next purchase. I took a chance on one of the unbranded Chinese doublenecks from Brandon's Custom Shop on Reverb, and I got a lemon (12-string neck had the worst corkscrew twist I've ever seen on a guitar). The fact that the case is included with this one is a big selling point, as it seems like every doubleneck needs its own proprietary case. Was very disappointed the BCS one didn't fit in an Epiphone G1275 case.
I am definitely getting one. I've always wanted a double neck, but they're generally cost prohibitive for me. I can afford this one, and it sounds great.
A month later, and I actually have one. Holy shit. I have to adjust the necks a bit to accommodate the lighter strings I prefer, but it plays like a dream and sounds amazing. Most ridiculous and best purchase I've ever made.
At this time they are only selling double neck's and not the regular sg style. Also their other popular styles are being limited for some reason. I guess maybe their get rid of old stock for new? Anyway great video again sir keep up the good work! 👍
You do the best reviews on Firefly Guitars. You should do one a month because I’m obsessed with the idea of them. I currently only have a FF338 but definitely want to dive in more.
That's the one that got my attention. Wonder if it has separate outputs. Two output jacks would open up more possibilities. With one output I guess an a/b box to switch between amps or signal chains will do and give the modding community a project. Edit: Maybe a stereo output jack could work?
I was wondering when Firefly would come out with this style guitar and now with a case. I hope they start doing this on all guitars. They almost have to do this because everyone is doing this. I'm saving for the airtonic guitar. I hate tuning a 12 string but 18 oh my word. Thanks Max. Harley Benton leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
Other nice thing about a 3 way switch for the necks is you have the 6 side on, and play the 12 side...it sounds otherworldly, and vice versa...neat 'lil thing I discovered on the 2 neck Epiphones...
Just got mine this week. I love it. I bought it initially because I always thought double necks were cool and figured for that price, why not? After playing it, it actually is a nice guitar. The 12 string however, was not setup at all and was unplayable when I got it. I had to raise the adjustable bridge up to get the strings off of the frets. I'm a novice player, so I was never going to drop the coin on a Gibson or even Epiphone version. This was all about price and I am really happy with it.
Thing looks sick. You turned me onto firefly and now my main guitar for Sunday service is the semi hollow body in red. It’s always such a pleasant experience playing it and it still wows me with the massive range of sounds it gets. So if your looking to get a firefly, pull the trigger!
Wow, thank you for a great post my friend! I just purchased this exact guitar yesterday but in pure white as I intend to use it for selective worship songs at our Sunday Services. Hoping you are enjoying yours and I’m just hoping that, aside from a usual setup of screw tightenings, truss adjustments, lubrication, new strings, etc…it will play well without needing to overhaul the electronics, pickups, etc. 🎸🙂🤚
@@JS45678 bro the one I received (ordered from Amazon too) is insanely clean for the price. Heck I thought I would try waxing the pickups for better sound, and I’m pretty sure they came pre waxed! If not they are the best “cheap guitar” humbuckers made because they are as clean as you need or great with the gain. Also a swell pedal is heavenly with this guitar. Enjoy your guitar!
@@DarrenLeadfoot Wow! My friend, I had the tea candle waiting but, now, I may not need it! 😃 Thank You so much for boosting my excitement level 1000 fold! While playing and singing the song most closely associated with white double neck having a volume control for each neck and a much easier to reach neck selector switch is very important. I've parked my HB until the necessary mods can be done, meanwhile I use a kit guitar from Solo guitars.
The first thing I thought of when I saw this video was the double-neck Gibson Don Felder used for live performances of Hotel California. And he had Gibson add the secondary switch…that they have done here. Very impressive, especially for the price.

January 2024. Love to have one. Submitted a request to firefly customer service at guitars Garden as the when they would be available again. Thanks for the video!
That is such a bad ass guitar! Being 60 now, I grew up in the days where many guitar hero’s used double-neck guitars. Even if I can’t play a 12 string for $400 it’s tempting just to hang on the wall and play it once in a while it’s so damn cool! Two necks Twice as cool!
Placing my order today. I have several high end guitars but can't see shelling out what a Gibson costs for a guitar I'd only be using for a couple of songs per gig. This should do just fine for that
Hope they got the nut width right on the 12 string neck (should be wider than the 6 string neck nut). If both are the same width it will be a beeotch to play. Having played a Chibson double neck that didn't increase the nut width of the 12 string neck if you don't have really skinny fingers it is near impossible to play the notes cleanly. Good vid as always. Cheers
I got the red one. The case is unbelievable. I have 4 other FF's and this one isn't the best. I had to take it to a shop because the 12 was way off and nut had to be replaced BUT I still can't complain. The switches are hard to memorize if you are going to change then in the middle of a song.
2 set necks. Hard case. Mahogany and Rosewood. Binding. Parallelogram inlays. Stainless frets. $399? Wow.. Sounds great so the pickups are at least pretty good. Zero need for a Chibson this is a copy but with lots of cool features

@GuitarMAXMusic1 - Nice review and demo! I also liked your Harley-Benton Double Neck unboxing and demo. You didn't mention neck dive which seems to be endemic to double neckers. Thoughts on addressing this? Wider sticky strap, and adding strap button near the lower neck are what I've heard...
I haven't played mine a lot but I have a complaint, other then the weight and the position of the strap pin. I've been playing 60 years so I'm not a beginner. When I finger a note on the 12 string fingerboard, I'm feeling the wound string and that's where my pick instinctively goes so I'm missing the octave string. I remember as a kid and the cheap, pawn shop guitars I got then, I always had a problem keeping them in tune. How are the tuners on this guitar? Any tuning issues?
I don't have much use for a double neck guitar, unless I'm playing "Stairway to Heaven", but at this price, it might be worth a gander. I like the Tele model with the trem, but I would have to put a VegaTrem on it !!! They aren't selling any SG models, or maybe they're out of stock? Thanks for the video.
i had to get one of these from another company a couple years ago yeap get a trusted person who knows how to cut the 12 string nut you can have it tuned but if the nut is cut all wrong chords will sound out of tune yeah another thing is the string height you can't have the 12 string side too low cause the tone will just suck you have to find that balance do i want to sound good and in tune or do i want low action but have a bad tone awesome twanger you must have good guitar luck
I’d like double neck with6 string and bass, but with the bass neck as the lower one, asi prefer to wear my bass lower than guitar A 6/12 double neck would be cool. Although I don’t know what I would use either for, other than fun. (Which is more than enough)

You should play more of that Byrds style 12 string, sounded good!
Looks really nice … what is the quality like on these guitars and are the pickups decent or will they need to be switched out ?
I don't have much use for a double neck guitar, unless I'm playing "Stairway to Heaven", but at this price, it might be worth a gander. I like the Tele model with the trem, but I would have to put a VegaTrem on it !!! They aren't selling any SG models, or maybe they're out of stock? Thanks for the video.
i had to get one of these from another company a couple years ago
yeap get a trusted person who knows how to cut the 12 string nut
you can have it tuned but if the nut is cut all wrong chords will sound out of tune
yeah another thing is the string height you can't have the 12 string side too low cause the tone will just suck
you have to find that balance do i want to sound good and in tune or do i want low action but have a bad tone
awesome twanger
you must have good guitar luck
Soo comparison time? This Vs the Harley Benton custom DC 612
You still talk to Frank Casciato? We knew each other from our Paladino's days... 🤘🏻
I’d like double neck with6 string and bass, but with the bass neck as the lower one, asi prefer to wear my bass lower than guitar
A 6/12 double neck would be cool.
Although I don’t know what I would use either for, other than fun.
(Which is more than enough)
Damn... I looked at the site and the bass/6 string neck looks fucking RAD but it's weird getting firefly guitars in the uk.
Damnit, I found them after they stopped making double necks. I wanted the bass and 6 string one.
