Canada has not achieved its 2% target ever, no matter which party has been in charge. Conservative governments have not increased our military expanses, nor have the Liberals.
Sorry but under Harper it was slashed to 0.8%. Under Trudeau it's increased to 1.37%.

All the natural resources of Canada belong to everyone, its the job of civil servants to properly manage the financial gains of those resources, that are sold off to benefit the entire nation. Canada is in the top 3 of oil producing nations. Country's in the middle east pay $40 cents/litre, why are Canadian's paying over $1.50/litre. There is an abundance of petroleum to make Canada such a rich nation, that income taxes, property taxes and 90% of the public sector services could be funded by the sales of oil. Dividends checks should be sent out every 1/4, to help Canadians instead of making politicians and oil company's rich. Nationalize our oil so that Canadian's live better.
I like that idea, but it won't happen. Oil-lagarks and the investment class will never allow that.
While we do have a lot of oil, it is also the most expensive to refine and transport.
So why won't Poilievre not commit to getting Canada to 2% GDP then?
I also would like to hear why.
