I never thought I'd watch a Painting Phase video and be tempted to use clips for training at my own workplace. The first 30-35 minutes alone would be great to show both the colleagues below me and the 'DAKKA' senior managers above me.
A brilliant chat amongst legends. The final 20 mins being super important for anyone in the hobby to hear. Just have fun and be excellent to each other. Thanks again Rob for those lockdown streams. My biggest takeaway is that it's fine to love Warhammer but it doesn't mean you have to love everything GW does or how it goes about it.
forget "anyone in the hobby", this should be something *anyone who interacts with other people* should listen to, and be made to keep listening to until it sinks in
Rob's focus on positivity is amazing. I have only recently started watching his videos but his focus on having fun, the validity of casual fun, and positivity is really, really refreshing. He's right. It's really easy to remember the negative shit we encounter in life. But it's on us to focus on those positive moments and share them.
I didn't expect Rob to be on the show but I'm so glad you had him on, watching his stream you quickly pick up he is just a genuinely enthusiastic toward the hobby and so positive about it all. Absolute legends!
Loved this interview with Rob! It felt like good friends sitting down just having a drink & talking about the hobby they love. You guys do a fantastic job with your interviews in my opinion. Keep up the great work!
We’ve been talking about how much, we’d love to have you on the show but have conscious of the fact, that you a good way down south. So thought it maybe a a stretch to ask.
Pat's comment about love at the end really resonated with me, the small compromises are worth it to show someone you care, and to Rob's anecdote you never know what you're doing that is going to really reach someone. Keep up the great shows, really glad to have these chats to watch.
That was wonderful! The story at the end really reminded me of one of the main reasons I love the hobby. The connections with people. The last 3+ years I've hobbied mostly alone on projects to try and complete "full sets" of things so I can make gaming memories with friends. I've been surprised to find it's harder than I'd thought, to change gears again and share all my work with people. It's slowly happening though. Thanks as always for the great content! Absolutely love your chats and how long they are ❤
I love, no matter who you guys have in ot chat with, the dynamic doesn't change and it makes every video so engaging. I had my 4 year old daughter tell me off numerous times because I was laughing too much. Top job guys! Was a wonderful way to spend 100mins of my time.
Great vid! I used to do tourneys a lot and you do meet those difficult characters but you do also make friends if you have the mindset for it. Made quite a few over the years and have some that have lasted a long time. So love the idea about going to make 5 friends as the attitude is everything.
I never thought about gaming in the way Rob described it today. I definitely had a prejudice to it that was more about my own engagement with the systems than the actual game play itself. Going to have a think about that and try some different ways to engage. Cheers guys
Difficult to describe how much I'm enjoying this podcast! Love all the guests as well, really excellent. Hearing Rob and Peachy chat shop about GW is too fascinating...
This one like the other episodes is BRILLIANT!! I need bigger capital letters to say how much I just LOVE this show!!! Brilliant stories and it is a real gem to be able to chat like this. 👍😊
Another great show, watched a few of Rob streams before and always found him and Nathan entertaining. Really enjoyed listening to the different competition set ups etc
That was a fantastic video. I really loved hearing Rob's thoughts and you guys brought amazing energy to the video as well. I especially appreciated Rob's thoughts on tournaments
Just the thing for a Monday, my ribs need ribs after the amount of laughing. And the enthusiasm hearing the games you played ages ago literally made me want to watch them.
So I left a comment here as I had an opportune moment before I’d finished watching all the video…then Robs recollection at the end has me bawling on my commute home! I generally despair of humans but it’s moments like that, that remind you of how amazing people can be. Knowingly or not 😊
I have to say this is the best "side tracked" yet. As a vet gamer play 40k since rouge trader and fantasy since 4th. I laughed so much and understood so much, also as an ex GW staff member. And I did the squad leader course, unfortunately not successfully. Made the mistake of putting my family first. But this episode was amazing and sums up the awesomeness of our hobby. No matter what the system.
I just came across you guys in the last month but I've been listening/watching your vids every week. Very happy to have 2 this week! Keep up the great work.
Dang. Rob set a high bar for having more than three minutes of his time. Really great to hear about a coincedent like that that helped someone that really needed it.
This was an awesome episode, ive been a big fan of rob and his work for a long time. please pass on my thanks to him and keep up the great work guys :-)
I cannot express how much this podcast means to me as a hobbyists. I love wargaming but everything behind the curtain upsets me. Good on all of you lads for being honest, but still support the game you love to play.
Facinating to hear from inside of GW. Seems like a lot of big en growings corps, toxic workplace filled with amazing people that just carry the whole thing. Amazing guest! Had my 2nd game of warcry yesterday with a stranger and it was a great time.
Another point that can't be understated is Pat mentioning about steadily improving is key. I always take Ibram Gaunts quote from Ghostmaker to heart. 'Dont be good, be better'. Doesn't matter if you're meeting the gold standard, just as long as you know your improving. Whether it's painting, combat sports, dialogue with people, the pursuit of improvement is never a bad thing.
I agree! You're content is brilliant, you come across as such a passionate and genuine person and your podcast and videos never fail to get me excited about warhammer! I have been painting and collecting minis for the last few years (since covid basically) and hearing you guys talk about the fun of games is making me really excited to jump in to some actual games and meet some awesome people in the hobby!
Had this on in my pocket while I was on the forklift at work, my colleague came over to ask me something, rather than pause I just assumed what he said, answered and drove off. Thank you for keeping my days exciting😂
Great video. I was part of the Live stream team during the 2022 GW US Opens. I had to bring my own stream equipment (10k of gear) too and didn’t even get reimbursed for shipping. Worst company I’ve worked for by far.
Fantastic video, honestly Rob and Peachy are both legends in the hobby, if only every hobbyist could embrace even just a small amount of their attitude towards the hobby.
The look on Patrick's face at 27:02 - "So... nothing's changed?!". It's a picture. I had to watch it twice. I identify with that feeling so much from my previous - thankfully now far behind me - job. Commiserations, man.
What Rob said about Necromunda really rings true. Haven't got the time or energy to invest in learning that insane mess of rules and the whole thing has just turned into a painting project for me because of that. Completely impenetrable for the casual dad gamer.
Saving the bone china wisdom for the last minute! Great guest! On a roll lately with the guests. Sidetracked is the best hobby chatshow in the business.
You know I think the most important take away from this episode starts at 01:35:54 ... If you can have just one positive on an individual than that's a huge win!
Brilliant chat as always, never tried slap chop but it's definitely a paint style tailored to someone like me who has very little time in the day to hobby. Dam the perfectionist in me, slowly trying only to do that for character models 😅.
Really appreciate you having me on
Anytime sunshine 😘 🌞
Superb stuff. Absolutely derailed my hobby time as I just sat and absorbed every minute.
I never thought I'd watch a Painting Phase video and be tempted to use clips for training at my own workplace. The first 30-35 minutes alone would be great to show both the colleagues below me and the 'DAKKA' senior managers above me.
All Old World all the time please Rob ❤
Absolutely great listen, thank you for sharing your stories Rob.
Best guest! Such a genuine person. Need to have him on again.

This was one of the best conversations/podcasts I’ve ever listened to coming out of the hobby. Thank you all, you absolute gems
Big ❤to everyone involved in this episode. It was fantastic.
These podcast videos are so amazing. I love that it's truly adults talking about toys. I just joined the Patreon, it's that quality.
Rob's focus on positivity is amazing. I have only recently started watching his videos but his focus on having fun, the validity of casual fun, and positivity is really, really refreshing. Two talkshow episodes in one week! Love it! I look forward to these more than anything else I've been watching on TH-cam. Keep them coming.
Rob is such a hero, can he be on every podcast? :) I really do miss those days of Warhammer TV. Used to tune in all the time.
You're really hitting it out of the park recently. I LOVE THESE PODCASTS!
Hadn't subscribed to you until you shared that you never put any hobby content behind a paywall. Really respect that. Instant subscribe!
Honestly, absolutely nailing it with the guests. All genuinely good content creators, and seemingly decent people. I fucking love this hobby
Loved this interview with Rob! It felt like good friends sitting down just having a drink & talking about the hobby they love. You guys do a fantastic job with your interviews in my opinion. Keep up the great work!
Bless you Rob. That final story got to me. Great chat gents as ever.
This was a cracking conversation. Appreciate you.
We appreciate you more!
@The Painting Phase If ever you want to chat, hit me up. Would be lovely to meet you
We’ve been talking about how much, we’d love to have you on the show but have conscious of the fact, that you a good way down south. So thought it maybe a a stretch to ask.
@@thepaintingphase Aww. You're thinking of me. Snuggles. Distance is not a problem. I was in Canadialand last week with MWG
Yeah I seen that, you truly are an International Warhammerer! I’m hoping that if we become more popular, we may get the opportunity for some travel.
Pat's comment about love at the end really resonated with me, the small compromises are worth it to show someone you care, and to Rob's anecdote you never know what you're doing that is going to really reach someone. Keep up the great shows, really glad to have these chats to watch.
Yet another completely wholesome chat - I'd always imagined Rob to be like this in conversation, but not to this level. What an absolutely lovely guy!
These chats are so great. I throw them on at work and they absolutely make my day.
Aww that’s awesome to here, glad to help you through the graft 😍
Love this was just after the Dawnstir deep dive. Great interview.
Great guest. Robs take on gaming is refreshing. The attitude we should all have to gaming
A very honest discussion -- funny too. I look forward to seeing you three guys chat again.
:-)

I love the production quality in your videos now! The sound and video is A+. Keep it up!

😍😍😍 thanks Trent
Wohoo, now I can get my painting on. I need to listen to this while I paint!
Such a great interview. Best so far!
So true Peachy! 20 years develops some hard to break habits!!! I get that! Also, good on you for taking the time to help someone out!
Another great show, watched a few of Rob streams before and always found him and Nathan entertaining. Really enjoyed listening to the different competition set ups etc

This was such an unbelievably good episode. So many lessons learned. Well done lads
Another great interview guys, hope this become a series.
Really loving these chats. Great way to learn about other creators in the community!
Rob really is wonderful to listen to, he just seems to be an overall very humble and pleasant person to chat with. Top notch conversation all around.
Just the thing for a Monday, my ribs need ribs after the amount of laughing. And the enthusiasm hearing the games you played ages ago literally made me want to watch them.

Great episode! I'm not even interested in the gaming part of the hobby but I was still engaged and entertained by this.
I couldn't give two fecks about GW but I loved this chat. Super takeaway messages for all gamers. I'm hooked.
Another fantastic guest and a great video guys. Loved the discussions on tournaments and the bants!

Thanks so much.
I love you guys and I love Rob, this was a perfect video.
I laughed, I cried and I loved every second.
Holy fuck Rob. Wow. This was a great episode... and that story. Man it had me in tears. Quite unexpected. Thank you for sharing.
Great chat. Solid guest and some interesting topics covered. Keep at it folks!
Bloody awesome Guys really needed this
Slapchop was made me actually enjoy painting my models so thank you for making its popular so I could learn it

Great interview. Love Rob
Glad the chat origin of Slapchop shurikan cannons is finally spoken about. Was an amazing day.
Does anyone else see a deep sadness in lovely Peachy? I love the man i hope he isnt sad internally.
What a lovely and insightful comment, rest assured I’m on the mend…..lots of baggage still to unpack though. 🥰👍
@@thepaintingphase hope you feel better soon, what you are doing is great!

Awsome chat, guys . Realy interesting to here about tournaments has changed my view on them. What a top guy Rob is 👍.
Great video. I was part of the Live stream team during the 2022 GW US Opens. I had to bring my own stream equipment (10k of gear) too and didn’t even get reimbursed for shipping. Worst company I’ve worked for by far.
I had the honor to chat with Rob during SPIEL in Essen, Germany, many years ago, when he promoted new Blood Bowl, great guy!
That was a fun time!
Rob is a voice in this hobby that should be heard. Awesome you got him on :)
I don't play much AoS but I really like Rob and the HWG team. Really appreciate you having him on and him coming along, seems like a dead nice bloke.
Fantastic video, honestly Rob and Peachy are both legends in the hobby, if only every hobbyist could embrace even just a small amount of their attitude towards the hobby.
What a wonderful person, fantastic guest.
Really enjoying these side tracked chats. Pure entertainment.
Muppets Christmas Carol best film ever! Great video gents, thanks for introducing me to these other channels.

As from today all rivers, canals and streams...brooks as well shall be referred to as long lakes.
Love this show!!
“Skip to the end” is from the Princess Bride…Greatest movie of all time (IMHO).
Great stream, Rob seems like an absolutely great person to hang out with

This was a great show. I'm preparing to get started on my railroad.
Guys, these are just so great, a real highlight of my day.
The frequency and quality of product is on top boyz!
two podcasts in one week, what a treat!
Great episode, thanks everyone
Rob is a great guest. 1hr40 flew by and got a night raptor painted, happy days!
You know I think the most important take away from this episode starts at 01:35:54 ... If you can have just one positive on an individual than that's a huge win!
Yep! Couldn’t agree more, my philosophy is to always show kindness to others, as you may never really and truly understand their story and journey.
Not fair to make me have feelings while watching a video about toy soldiers. Great guest, great chat, love to see some positive fun content.
Brilliant chat as always, never tried slap chop but it's definitely a paint style tailored to someone like me who has very little time in the day to hobby.
Dam the perfectionist in me, slowly trying only to do that for character models 😅.
Great interview. TH-cam is showing an ad for Good Chop, a meat and seafood seller. LOL
Was not expecting another one of these till Monday what a treat. Thank you guys.
Our pleasure!
cracking episode guys cheers
Such a great chat! thanks :)
Amazing interview. Not everyday you get to hear the word Ludo dissoance in a podcast. :)
Peachy is indeed a lovely person. I was very shy about talking to him, and he was very nice :-)
An interview so good, they literally ran the cameras battery out
ROB IS AWESOME. Followed him on his adventures since the beginning of Warhammer TV and he's been consistently himself throughout. Top lad
