The sweet ladies from the Shepard's Needle recommended this series to me when I told them I wanted to try punch needling. Thank you so much for these tutorials! :)
Hi Vonna! Thanks so much once again, for the generous gift of your time and your knowledge. I'm part of a small cross stitching group, and while we're all seasoned stitchers, none of us have ever punch needled. So -- we decided we would all learn how to do it. And of course, my first place to learn how was with one of your videos. I'll be moving on to your next video tomorrow to see step 2. Thx!! Steph x
You have such a gift for sharing ! And all the time you spend teaching your crafts is so amazing.😁 I’ve been on a marathon, the last couple days watching you 👍 Thank you for all you do 😊
Hi Vonna! Not sure if you still get notified of comments three years after the video, but just in case you do, I wanted to let you know I was looking for a beginner punch needle video and when I saw that you had one, I thought, this is the only one I need to watch. You do tutorials so in depth, I knew I wouldn’t need to watch one by anyone else!
Thank you so much for this video and posting it for us that couldn't attend live. You truly are a blessing to fellow crafters. Thank you for all you do!
Omgosh I came to the comments to see if I was the only one who caught it and laughed my head off!!! I wasnt going to say anything if someone else hadn't said anything! 😂😂 I'm still chuckling a half hour later! My hubby too! AND it's called a "Puffin" thread separator!😂 It just keeps getting better!😂
Vonna thank you so much for sharing your time and your talent. This is the BEST punch needle tutorial I have seen. I have had all the supplies for a while now and like anything new I was hesitant to start. I won’t be intimidated now!! Looking forward to the next class.
You GO girl!!! As in all needlework it is a personal journey, you are the artist working on the piece, it is your expression and interpretation. There is no right or wrong way in your interpretation. The only wrong here are the people pushing their interpretations on you, I don't care if they are masters in their craft or not, it is "their" way not necessarily anyone elses. If others ask "how" then it can be illustrated with your way or how you learned on your way to mastering something. But even then it is your way and may or may not become part of their way.
I just want to reach through the screen and give you a big ol’ hug!!!❤️🤗 I truly appreciate your knowledge and experience and you explain so well! I am terrible at explaining anything!🤣 I just bought a punch frame/needle,pattern combo at the Paducah Quilt show and so happy I had this video to make me more confident.🤗❤️
Vonna thanks for another GREAT TUTORIAL and sharing your God Given talents. I think your the best TEACHER ever. Can't wait until next Friday to learn something else .
I’m late to the punch needle party, but am here and following your tutorials and learning how to do this awesome craft. Thank you Vonna - you’re a fantastic teacher 🥰
Vonna, Thank you so much for these punch needle classes. You are always so thorough. I learned how to tell what size my needle is. 😊 And now I know I can use all six strands. Yay! I love the look of punch needle and I did do one a couple of years ago. I’ve been wanting to try again and now with your help I know my second project will be much better. Thanks again!! You are the best!!!
Discovered this tonight and as I’ve been thinking about trying gave it a go. Went to Shepherds Needle and got supplies. So once they arrive I’ll be checking back in. Love the tips you give, always so helpful.😊
After watching your 1st punch needle tutorial I have begun my first punch needle. I copied something out of PNPS magazine (Potted Tulip Antique by Lori Brechlin. I changed all the threads to colors I already have in case I hated punching or was really awful at it) but I’m not doing too badly. My front looks OK… the back is kind of a mess! I have some bare spots but plan on fixing them. My biggest problem has been not paying attention to my floss to be sure it’s flowing freely. I’d like to thank you so very much for the generous sharing of your time and talent. Your tutorials and regular videos are informative as well as entertaining; I’ve learned so much from you. You’re my go-to girl for anything to do with finishing and now punching!
Thank you so much! I’m going to purchase all my supplies and give this a try. I punch needled many many years ago for just a sample trial and never did it again. It looks like so much fun.
Fantastic video! I think I can do this! You are a wonderful teacher, Vonna. You make everything so clear and you are very detailed. Love all the helpful hints! Can’t wait until next week!
I did something like punch needle years ago not as it is today. It was great watching you and learning so much. You thought of everything to begin and did a great job, Katie too! Thanks for all you do!
So enjoyed your video. I agree with comments made. You are an inspiration, funny , warm and I love your faith❤ignore the naysayers, I can’t stand how they creep in this loving community. Love you dear❤
Thank you Vonna and your girls for taking time out of your Friday night to help all of us! I really appreciate you and your knowledge and I feel like I can do this now. I live near The Shepherds Needle and will have to stop by and get supplies! Thank you again and looking forward to the next one❤️
Thank you again for all of your help and the generosity of you, as well as your daughters, in giving of your personal time to teach others. Not only I am enjoying punchneedle, but I think my 7 year old--who still can't quite grasp cross stitch-- would enjoy it as well and am excited to improve my skills to be able to teach her, as well.
Awesome video! I’ve always wanted to try punch needle but didn’t know where to start! Thank you to you and the help of your daughters for taking the time to do this demo and on a Friday night too! It was a really thorough overview of materials needed and how to start! I’ve seen punch needles at Hobby Lobby; not the same one you’re using, so it was definitely helpful to learn that the Ultra Punch is the way to go! The end result of punch needle is so cool; love the texture of it and the designs are so cute! I hope I can do this, you made it look so easy! I tried wool hooking with wool strips once (I know its not the same) and it looked easy too but it didn’t work out for me. Your video however is telling me otherwise; that I can do punch needle…lol
Thank you so much for these tutorials!! I live so very far from any LNS and even the only two LNS shops in our state does not sell punch needle supplies or patterns. So, this tutorial is the only way that I am able to learn. Thanks Vonna!
Vonna you are the best teacher!! thanks for sharing your knowledge. I just finished my first punch needle last week but this gave me some great ideas to make it so much easier. Love the idea of wrapping the floss around the clothespin!
Excellent tutorial, Vonna! I have punched some, but I’ve never been sure I was doing it right so it was very helpful to watch you punch live. Thank you so much for taking the time to do these tutorials, I have learned so much from you. You are a generous soul and I so appreciate YOU!!! See you next Friday!!! 💕💕💕
thanks Vonna, I have the supplies in a box from a couple of years ago. Didn't like the end result, you have given me the urge to give it a try one more time. thanks
Brilliant - really explained everything I wanted to know - including all of the useful tools that no one knew about!!! Thanks Vonna, you are the best xx
Thank you Vonna, it was a bit early in Australia for the live feed, but it’s wonderful to be able to watch it later. You are a natural born teacher and thank you for sharing your talent 🤗 Bridget R
Fantastic video! Thank you so much for sharing your time and talents with us. Off to get started winding threads, marking pattern, and getting started on our homework!
Thank you, Vonna - you are a born teacher! I had no intention of starting to do punchneedle, but after watching your class, I think I'm going to give it a try. You are very generous - thank you again!
This looks good, thanks. I’m trying my first punch. Just so you and others know because I liked it, the Puffin thread separator isn’t being made anymore according to the company website. I guess making my own will have to be in the works. 😀 as we crafters know we need more projects!
No Coffee for me Sally, thank you though for your kind offer - I have been mightily blessed in this life and to whom much is given, much is expected. I give selflessly of the talents I've been blessed with because that is what I believe good human being should do - Do unto others as I'd have done to me. I sure would appreciate if you gave me your friendship though - a girl can never have enough loyal friends
I used to do something like this when I was a teenager, back in the mid eighties. It was called Pretty Punch. It didn't use embroidery thread, though. They sold their own kind of yarn. I don't think they're still around anymore. It's kind of neat seeing something similar, all these years later. :) I like your explanation of what weaver's cloth is. I never knew that was a thing.
Looking for more help. This video was fantastic. I have watched many videos and have continued to fail. This one corrected some of my mistakes. However I am using the medium punch with 6 strands on weavers cloth and if I pull out my punches the fabric is shredded/torn threads shredded. Any advice would be great. Thank you!!!
So sorry I missed the live but thank you for Posting it up. I am going to give it a try with a no name punch needle I have. But the ultra is on my wishlist. Do you have to have a Morgan lap stand or can I use a regular hoop and holder (for now)?
I live in Australia so ordering from the States is way too expensive. If an Aussie is watching this and you know where I can buy these tools. Thank you.
As I mention in the video, this class deals with those designers who have preprinted weavers cloths designs. In the future we will hold a class of transferring patterns onto weavers cloth.
Am I a bad grandmother? I’m hating that next weeks video is being held during my grandson’s high school graduation. I know I can watch it later, but I’m still a little bummed! Lol
It’s not really a kit, it is “American Roots” by Threads That Bind. The Shepherd’s Needle is the LNS I use and she has partnered with me to source everything and kit it/help people that need to get started.
Like everything you teach, you make it look doable. There is a special place in heaven for people who share their gifts. Thanks Vonna.
I hope so ❤️

"Roach clip" 🤣 Your tutorials are always fantastic TY!
I’m going to be honest after I said that I thought “oh Lord, why did I say that?!” 🤣😂
I caught that too!
@@VonnaPfeiffer I'm surprised that your girls didn't catch it. Or they just played it off well lol. Mine would have been laughing hysterically.
I just watched this and caught the roach clip comment, lol and I had to see who commented! 😂 ❤

As I mention in the video, this class deals with those designers who have preprinted weavers cloths designs. In the future we will hold a class of transferring patterns onto weavers cloth.
Good morning!
One question- where did you get the thingamajig that you used to tighten the hoop? Thank you!
The Shepherd’s Needle
