While I haven't seen the Playboy doc re: Don, I CAN speak for myself. The things being said in this video in regards to me...did NOT happen. Some of the comments are absolutely absurd and slanderous.. .Not only are these old rumors unfounded, but some of you are starting NEW ones. I moved in with Don??? I dated Jennifer Beals??? (that one, not so bad, lol) I was recruited from local L.A. high schools??? and on and on. SMDH. I find it appalling that my people can so easily perpetuate things that "they heard" (rumors) never knowing or giving a shit about whether what they heard is true or not. I guess none of you "well educated" know everything ass people bothered to read or keep Ashleys disclaimer in mind while listening to this shit. Remember this: "I am not sure what’s true or false in this video, I am just here to take the gossip and scandal from online, books, magazines, word of mouth, etc., and tell you guys a story! 🙂 This is all for entertainment purposes." Obviously NOT. And yet we wonder why we can't get ahead as a community. Wake up, you're part of the problem. Meanwhile, I do exist and you CAN holla at a black man who is still alive to defend himself. facebook.com/obryanmedia

Thank you for leaving this comment O'Bryan and clearing up many of these rumors! We appreciate you reaching out and I will pin this comment up top so people can see this truth. I am saddened that you take offense to the video but still am true to my word about letting people tell their story of their own lives. Thanks again💕
EDIT: Also if you would like to reach out in a more private setting I would be happy to clear your rumors especially since they are coming from the horses mouth, that's MUCH better than gossip, feel free to email me at Ashleysaysso20@gmail.com

Hello @@AshleySaysSo20and thank you. The first half of what was said about me is somewhat true. But there's plenty of legitimate interviews and bio out there to explain that meeting, so I won't waste words here. However, the second half about Don trying to get at me sexually and blackballing me throughout the industry is straight nonsense. I don't know everything about Don and have never claimed to; But I do know about what I saw during my business days with him and NEVER saw any of this behavior. Funny thing is, I'm not so offended by the video as one might think. Hell, it's the first time the damn rumor is that I stood my ground. Guess I could be happy about that right? But I'm not, because it still slanders and portrays Don in a negative light. He did NOT pursue me nor did I ever see him pursue any men in any shape, form or fashion. Ever. He had a woman when I met him and behaved like a normal heterosexual man throughout all of our dealings. But like I said, some of these commenters are just adding insult to injury and need to check themselves. Take care.

Hey, O'Bryan!! Your debut album is so special to me. I had a house party for my 13th birthday in April of 1982. "The Gigolo" was a huge hit at the time and of course, it was played heavily at my party!!
I have not REALLY watched the Playboy documentary (I've recorded it), but I did I just tell my friend that it pi$$e$ me off that they are telling all of Don's secrets, but they're not naming the others; the WHITE ones. That is the reason that I am not an Oprah and Gayle fan. It seems they don't mind tearing down Black men (whether they're guilty as accused or not) while continuing to rub elbows with Whites who are accused of things, as well.
Glad to know you're still alive and well!!

I came to tell you I love "tenderoni" so much! My mom enjoys it whenever "dazzling lady" comes on. Also your theme song for Soultrain was what got me interested in you back after highschool in 2005. I'm not someone who remembers hearing of you on the radio but I hope people keep discovering your work.

I knew something wasn't quite right about Don Cornelius. When I was a teenager I was on Don's soul Train show when it started in Chicago in the early 70's. Don Cornelius, was mean, he would scream at us in a impatient nasty way. But when the commercial break was over and the cameras start rolling he would start acting nice, smiling and say "o.k. boys and girls" let's come together .....🤔🙄👺

He was in a bad place psychologically to take his life the way he did. That is terrible!
As a young girl watching Soul Train there was always something about his demeanor that was strange to me. He had a dance show full of life but he appeared so lifeless. That's the best way I can describe it. I think something was bothering him way back then.

I agree with you. I wasn’t able to articulate it but I felt something sinister. I usually attribute it to a dysfunctional childhood, denial of sexuality, or self- hate. In his case it may be all 3 which is why I’m looking to find a biography written about him. Thanks Ashley❤️

Fortunately we know more about mental illness as every year passes. If these things are true and probably are; psychiatrist would diagnose Mr. Cornelius with Narcissistic Personality Disorder. You can look up videos about this condition on TH-cam. Essentially people who have self loathing will turn their anger outward onto other people. All of incidents described in this video fit the behavior to a tee. I would hope that in 2022 anyone experiencing abuse by such a person would report them. Silence equals enabling that person.

Dolores Cornelius was the director of my son's Head Start program in Chicago. My son is now 41 years old. We got very close. As a parent I had to volunteer at her HS. She was a tall and very elegant, beautiful woman. I remember her telling me that Don left her and went to California. I don't know how long he had been gone. But I remember her tears. In fact, I bet if I look hard I know I have a couple of certificates with her name and signiture.

    ni$$a$.
It was almost as if it was the cool thing to do amongst them.

It was rumored, during the 80's, that Don Cornelius was homosexual. He recruited a lot of gay boys from Crenshaw and Dorsey high to dance on Soul Train. Young men like Jermaine Stewart, O'brian, etc were recruited because they were gay. That's probably why he was so abusive toward women.

reality TV show! That's straight bullsh!t. And is diminishes Soul Train genius and success!!!

Sexuality could play a lot into all those problems of wilding out and abusing. If he had to put up a facade for so long, this probably built up. This is why people should be allowed to be themselves. When not, that is when deviant behaviour rears its ugly head.
But, Mr. Brown???? Goodness! I just thought everyone knew him as much as I remember him being on TV, but maybe not. I wouldn't have expected that one, but who knows. Friends, or boyfriends. I guess we will never know, but I don't think so.

Those were young guys that Don would’ve thought he could’ve coerced or groomed. 😒 I think he would’ve known not to “fluke” wit the The O’Jays, especially Eddie and William. They were closer to his age. There's a saying that says" if one person says something about someone, doubt it. But if multiple people are saying the same thing, then there's truth to it. I believe Rosie Perez. Her story has been consistent throughout.
I also read in her book that some of the dancers used to go on American Bandstand after taping Soul Train because they wanted to not only get paid but they really loved to dance. Don knew about this but said nothing. But the reverse was never allowed to happen. White kids were rarely allowed on his show, at first. After he stopped hosting himself, you could see more white kids.
Was he abusive??. Yeah, I believe it. It has the ring of truth to it.

I really appreciate that you told this wonderful story on Don Corneilus. It is so exciting to me because I was a very young teen when Soul Train came out. I just closed my eyes and visualized this amazing story. 👏🏿

Girl, I love the way that u report! It reminds me of the way I would see my mom and her friends sitting outside talking about "the local tea" when I was a kid. Because of your dislaimers about the segments being strictly gossip and that the info may not be true, I can just enjoy the tea, and not get bogged down in: "no that's not true.... Well that's not what I heard or read". Thank you for your unique style of reporting. It's just for fun and not meant to harm anyone. Like I said: You are very clear and transparent in your opening. It reminds me of Benita Brattrell on 'In Living Color'. "You ain't heard this from me, but......" 😂 I wish you all the best on your channel, and I will continue to watch, hit the like button and make comments. And I definitely subscribed after seeing the first video of yours that I came across. ANYONE WHO DISAGREES WITH ME, PLS DO NOT COME FOR ME. MY COMMENTS ARE TO ASHLEY. I RESPECT YOU RIGHT TO DISAGREE, BUT JUST SCROLL PAST MY COMMENTS AND HAVE A BLESSED DAY. 💞💖

Kristoff St.John, please Ashley? I know you'll do the man who played Neil Winters from YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS so much justice.💙☺

Ashley you really should write a book and do a tv series about scandals and stories. You have the personality to do that!
