what's the internal specs / ssd used? is it nvme? or m.2 or proprietary?

depends what you need. if on a mac and only using on a mac than id format it, if not then it leave it as ExFat.

I do need a newer, larger external drive. Speed is not an issue for me as much as storage space, Storage space for games lol.

Bought 1tb version and put all the ps4 games that u get for being a + user and it remained 158gb,extra fast and reliable,best buy definitely!
