the big colourful winter coat tip is so underrated! i love when people wear bright colours when it's so grey and meh outside, that pop of colour really livens up everything around. i'm someone who wears mostly black on a daily basis but last year i got this super long puffer coat in my favourite lilac colour and let me tell you, people smile at me so much when i wear it, it's like i made their day or something. i'm calling it the fun winter coat effect lmao

This video is literally what I found nowhere on youtube!! I was wondering why nobody is talking about everyone only wearing dark in winter and this video reminded me that fashion can lighten the winter mood so much!!
I think wearing bright colors for winter is a good way to counter balance the overall doom and gloom of winter. When everyone else is in black or grey it's also a super easy statement!
I'm impressed that you can wear your Docs in winter without slipping on the ice, that happens to me on the daily! Had to buy chains for the bottoms. It would be cool to see a video of how to take the whimsigoth style into winter (without loosing some whimsy)
Bro not having sunglasses in the winter is even worse! When it's sunny and reflecting off the snow it's blinding AF. So glad i finally got prescription sunglasses lol

as a person who unintentionally got a green statement coat and loves it ( and I get more complements on it than any other clothing I own) - thrift it ! i payed like 15 GBP for mine so it wasn't that much commitment. Also if u thrift, u can find actual wool coats that will work in the coldest temperatures in great prices, whereas similar high content wool coats are incredibly expensive. I haven't bought a brand-new coat from a store in YEARS and I am never going back :)

I also grew up in Wisconsin but moved to the Twin Cities so lately it has been so cold and snowy so thanks for this, I get frustrated with all the “winter lookbooks” that only get to be like 50 degrees at most! I still look like a Michelin Man recently since I bus to work but layers are my thing. I layer 2 pairs of tights and thigh high socks with my big honking boots. Also I have multiple hats and berets, one even looks like a pie and is warm!

Sat on this a while but I feel like I watched this right when I needed it. Really kind of feeling like my winter clothes game is where I want it to be but want to zhuzh it up a little and I think it's going to mostly come down to outerwear. Definitely gonna keep an eye out for more interesting pieces.
I don't own any black coats - never did, in fact. my parents hated black... but it's actually very practical: i can always instantly find my coat among the others after a public gathering

I had a robin's egg blue coat that I switched out last year for a longer dark teal coat. Winter is so drab between the fall/winter color palettes clothes are sold in and the weather
my no 1 suggestion is fleece lined tights- it can be tricky finding a shade that's similar to your skintone (esp if you have a darker skintone) but if you find ones that are close-ish to your skin tone you can layer other tights you already have over it to kinda hide that it's not the exact right shade- they keep my legs nice and toasty and still allow me to wear all my cute dresses and skirts year round cos i don't own many pants

Great video! So so many amazing and unique winter coats on resale sites, I would suggest a wool or shearling coat. A good shearling coat is so warm and is an heirloom piece if you take good care of it (hint, wax the outside if it's wet in winter where you live!)

I totally just googled Wisconsin, cause I don't have any idea of the US map and had to educate myself. Anyway, didn't need any cold girl makeup today, just had to walk my usual 10 minutes to school and BOOM red face~! Did this looking like a huge marshmallow in my light pink warm padded winter coat (I also have two 'light' winter coats, similar to your red one in style), white winter trousers, matching light pink hat and two layers of mittens. And of course I had the obligatory two layers of longsleeve tops, longjohns under my trousers and woollen socks on top of my regular ones. I am one of those people who just feel cold all the time, so these are the drastic measures I must take when temperature goes below 14 F.
I enjoyed this one, will try to spice up my non-marshmallow outfits! Also my favourite tip is those neckwarmers/warm collars. When I was little they were all very woolly and scratchy, but now there are nice soft ones in shops that actually look like a jumper or a fleece poking out under the coat! I think they'd make a great DIY project as well~

I love this video, great suggestions!!! I however doooo have a long puffer jacket that is black (I live in canada). I did buy it on sale which is part of the reason I got it. Buuuut it makes me happy everyday because it's warm comfy and looks good with everything. However I dooo tend to wear black, and go crazy with my accessories and such which you mentioned. But I do also have 2 statement winter coats I love, I think it's great to have some alternatives, but I am in love with my black puffer! But also if you live somewhere real cold and have space and money to get a few winter coats it's definetly worth it because I wear mine for like 8 months of the year and one of mine I thrifted for like $15 and it's super warm

the brand Noize makes really cool jackets in lots of colours! and they're cruelty free! Mine is super warm ( I wear it in -30 C) but they can be $$ if you don't wait for a sale!
