Great info, thanks! I didn't see anybody tagging with 2 hands at the end but not really surprised, it's tough to do.

Nice drill. Question while I'm here (offtopic): Have you covered how players handle their laundry while on long roadtrip, say 10-12 days. I'm curious to know how much you pack, who handles it ( you or assigned personnel), do you do it each day or let it pile up for the duration and just bring it all home dirty. If you've covered this, can you point me to a link. Thanks Matt

Do you have a video or drill for the runners on how to try to beat the rundown?

The absolutely first thing to do is get the ball in front of the runner. Then run him back in the direction he came from. If you screw up the rundown he'll just end up right back where he started. You always want to get the out but if you don't it's better if the runner doesn't advance a base due to your mistake.

So, Matt .... do you run a baseball school? Are you a coach? What's the deal? It's cold up here in Canada, bro.

Turd Furguson yes both. Run a program and coach. And it’s cold here too!

@@AntonelliBaseball That's awesome, bud. Wish I was able to do that. I miss the ol baseball days. Thanks for helping me get back into baseball. I've been out of the loop for years.

Curious on your thoughts about the receiving fielder calling for the ball or not. I’ve noticed that the thrower may never throw the ball because he waits on the verbal command of the receiving defender and then the ball is thrown too late.

Well tell thrower to throw when they feel it should be thrown. But we also tell receiver to gain momentum prior to catch. I teach receiver to raise hands. Some teach to call for ball.

This is a drill I make my club ball team do directly after warmups. 30 times through, if it’s dropped start all over.

Good advice. Maybe turn off the music during instruction next time.

It’s obstruction not interference of you bump into the runner

Semantics. Sometimes you misspeak, this isn't a typed out or read from a teleprompter thing. I guarantee everyone there knew what he meant.

Marvin Heyboer Earlier he said create a new lane not in the base path

@@tristenarnold If the defense, fielders, are at fault it's obstruction. If the runner is at fault it's interference. He's describing obstruction but calling it interference. Very common error for people who don't umpire.

Always run him toward the next base. Except between home and third

    • @lestercecil9305
      @lestercecil9305 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Never do that.

    • @lestercecil9305

Always run him back to the base he came from so when you screw up the rundown, at least he didn't advance a base.
