XFR owner here! I'd have had an XJR if it wasn't for the fact the back seats don't fold (i'm a fisherman) I am feeling like i'm missing out on a bit of luxury in the XFR though 🥲 I have Spires backboxes on mine and they do sound epic but don't have that rasp on startup of this one (res delete / X pipe too i'm guessing?) I'd have gone straight through but mines a daily driver and every other week i leave the house at 530am in the morning and feel like my neighbours might murder me if it were any louder.
I bought one of these a month ago. It was originally ordered and owned by the designer of the x351 itself. For £30k I bought an 8 year old super car with only 40k miles. I can’t quite get my head around it. The power is brutal, and I’ve literally had to relearn how to drive since owning it, the days of flooring a car to overtake are over unless it’s dry, warm, and on decent roads, unless you want to end up in a hedge!!!
I have the 3.0ltr supercharged portfolio XJ and I love it. It's a little too quiet though, I know they were going for refined power with V6 supercharged so I'm not surprised but it has less engine noise than my old V6 naturally aspirated XF.
@@NaturallyAspiratedI've also got the same 3.0 Supercharged Petrol and what exhaust mod would you suggest? It is indeed too quiet! By the way, loved this video! ❤
@@kamranki I’d guess it’ll be the same as the R. The back section bolts off and then you can replace it with a straight through pipe… It was custom made at a local exhaust shop and cost about £300. The tips are also just bolted on so they were swapped over. That’s what was done on the XJR, so hopefully you can do the same. Good luck and let us know when it’s done!!
Bought a 5.0 NA LWB X351 about a month ago... I'm smitten. I was worried it would feel sluggish and lack the extra 120hp and bucket of torque of the supercharged versions... boy was I wrong. The car feels more than adequately quick, has just the right mix of engine, weight, gearbox. The only time you can feel it could use some extra oomph is above 160-180kph, but anything below that feels exceptionally exciting. The gearbox in S mode blips the throttle on downshifts, and that soundtrack... If I sell it, I'll get another X351 right away - either an XJR or 5.0 NA with low miles. Epic machine.
Random question not to do with the Jag. but the SRT JEEP. Do your lad still have it? hows he finding it? any other issues since the last vid update (fluid change on transfer and rear diff) im looking at getting one in the next few years and wanna know as much as i can before making the plunge
Hi Dale! The SRT is gone, however, it is missed everyday! Loved the ownership of it, with no other issues apart from the diff fluid change, which seems to be quite common! Biggest change was changing from Pirelli P-Zeros to Falken Azenis tyres, made a hell of a difference! Really great car, good cruiser but had performance when needed/wanted! Would definitely consider a Jeep again in the future...!
@@dalehutchinson8841 a Porsche 996 Turbo and then an Audi RS3! Just posted a video about the RS3! Make sure to have a look. Reason for selling was a very strong market/resell value and also, the size of the Jeep in the area I lived was becoming slightly intrusive! Also, I saw a good deal on a 996 Turbo!
@@jimmycole Firstly, each to their own and you're welcome to your opinion. I'd agree it may be inappropriate on a V8 XJ Autobiography or Portfolio, but this is the R model and should have a bit more noise. As you don't like the glorious V8 noise you should probably sell your XJR. It would appear a near silent EV is more up your street... 😜
I'm a big Jaguar fan. Currently I have an XKR x150 and a XJR X356 with 500.000km. The interior and the guts of this XJR X351 are really amazing, but even trying hard, I'm not able to like the exterior. I will try harder, but I'm affraid I don't see "the Jaguarness" anymore, it feels to me like a premium Citroën C6 on steroids.

The 3.0 is a wonderful engine also! Maybe a little exhaust mod? They make a fantastic noise in other JLR product

Exactly and this is what makes Jags great.

Could you drop this engine into a 1995 XJ6 Valden Plas?
