There is a story behind this:
One day, a man saw a woman who wanted to commit suicide, she said she saw something, telling her to jump off. The man had concluded that she had the temptation of thanatos, an illness where the grim reaper turns into someone of your ideal type and tempts you to jump off. The man saved her as he fell in love with her on first sight, since she was his ideal type (hint hint). Day after day, the man convinced her not to give in to her ilusions. But one day, he was tired, he wanted to end it all. He told her that he wanted to jump off with her and the girl who had never smiled before had finally smiled. They both held hands and jumped off. Turns out, the man was the one who had the temptation of thanatos and the girl was his grim reaper.

This was their debut song and if not mistaken the composer Ayase had said before in an interview that he recorded the instrumental parts in a KTV room or something like that cos he was just starting out and couldn't afford renting a studio. Still, this song is what got me hooked on their songs since.

Did you know that YOASOBI's music is basically based on a novel?
"Racing Into The Night" is based on the novel "The Temptation of Thanatos".
There is an English translation, so please read it and then watch it again. (It's a short novel, so it won't take you long).
You will clearly understand both the meaning of the lyrics and the meaning of this video.

Listen to the Japanese version several times and when you are comfortable with it, listen to the English version. You will surprise yourself, you will hear Japanese even though you are supposed to be listening to the English version. And the meaning is the same.

The concept of yoasobi's song is to make a novel into a song.
The novel "The Temptation of Tanatos" that was the basis of this song
This story is short and has the following contents.
A man who takes a liking to her suicidal beautiful girl tries to prevent her from committing suicide,
but her true form is "grim reaper" and she has the motive to lure the man to suicide together.
"Racing into the Night" is a song that pays homage to such a novel.
Even Japanese people listen to "Racing into the Night" without knowing the true meaning.

There is an English version of this song, and you might want to check it out, as her vocals are impressively close to the Japanese version you hear here.

I absolutely have been in love with YOASOBI's music for the past couple years, I almost listen to it non-stop.
The reason for the comment though was that one of my friends passed away a bit over a year ago, he was the vocalist for Too Close To Touch, Keaton Pierce. Have you heard any of their music? My favorite from them is Nerve Endings.

You should listen to some of ayase’s songs since his songs sound a lot like yoasobi’s (because he does the instrumentals in yoasobi) my favorites from him are ghost city Tokyo and cinema

    Thanks for reacting YOASOBI.
Here is my list of recommendations.
    -----
□LiSA x Uru - saikai (produced by Ayase) / THE FIRST TAKE

    saikai means "reunion."
AYASE of YOASOBI wrote the song and other female artists sing it.
    -----
□milet×Aimer×ikura - omokage (produced by Vaundy) / THE FIRST TAKE

    omokage means "remnant".
On the contrary, IKURA collaborated with other artists here.
    -----
    □LiSA - homura / THE FIRST TAKE

    homura means "flame"
If you think LiSA is good, please listen to this one too.
It is the theme song of a hit animated film in Japan.
    -----
ReoNa - ANIMA / THE FIRST TAKE

ReoNa sings several anime songs. I think this one will also be of interest to anime fans.
    -----
It's hard to choose other Japanese artists
because YOASOBI is one of the top J-pop artists.
If you want to know more about other Japanese artists,
you might want to check out the TH-cam channel "The First Take".
    Other TH-camrs,reactors from overseas
have also chosen this channel to gain Japanese fans.

      Other good songs by YOASOBI
      □YOASOBI - gunjo / THE FIRST TAKE
      Gunjo means "ultramarine blue."

It was popular to chorus in China, so lots of people paid attention.

Song: Jumpy electro track with octave hopping bass, trippy keyboard solos and snappy guitars
Lyrics: Hello may I interest you in this literal kiss of death
I was one of the people who commented that you should watch the fist take version particularly to get a sense of how her voice sounds in a live setting. However I do agree that for Yoru ni Kakeru in particular it's better to hear the studio version first, then experience the slowed down but still equally awesome home take version.

Thanks for the nice commentary. I was once again touched by the quality of the song.
He is the guitarist of Yoasobi now. He didn't record the song back then, but it sounds just as nice.

If you have no observations or comments for most of the song, maybe just don't put it in the video. I can go listen to the song myself if I want to. I'll gladly watch someone reviewing a song and inserting clips of it where relevant, but what's the point in me watching you bop your head for 4 minutes and 20 seconds?

    • @RoninMann
      @RoninMann  ปีที่แล้ว +7

Some people don’t like me commenting during the song. Some want me to. Some love when I don’t stop the song and just jam to it. Some, like you, dont.
There is no version of this video where I win with everyone. But, this is how I do things here.
If you don’t want to jam to the song with me that’s okay. You can get my thoughts after the song. If you can’t be bothered to skip ahead, then maybe I’m not for you and that’s okay too.

I just watched someone react to this that did not know how to not pause a song every second or two and absolutely lose their mind. Here was a proper reaction where the reactor attempted to remain quiet most of the time without stopping the video while occasionally providing commentary about the music. THIS is how you react!
