YOASOBI is such an amazing duo. They do not have a single bad song. The singer is Lilas Ikuta. She has a lot of solo songs which are also absolutely fantastic. I highly recommend checking some of her songs out. Keep up the great work!

Ikura is a machine-like singer with perfect pitch and emotions. The first time I heard her sing, I thought it was a vocaloid. She has an amazing sense of rhythm. Someone said she is a rhythm athlete. I know a lot of people have already mentioned this, but all their songs are based on existing stories.
I'm sorry to break it to you but ikura is not godly at all. if you hear her live singing, there are so many off-pitched notes. Tbf, Ayase's songs are not easy to sing, but it is completely false if you say ikura is a "machine-like singer with perfect pitch and emotion"

As for pitch, I was talking about studio versions and live performances like the first take, where she stands still and sings. @@kengo7273 not saying that she is not talented for singing, but compared to what we hear from her live performances, and how talented and experienced ayase is in vocaloid music producing, i think it is easy for him to "alter" ikura's voice to be as perfect as possible (as you said, as vocaloid). Not saying that he definitely did that, but there are possibility of that happening after comparing her live performances.
Kaibutsu, or Monster in english, was chosen as one of the best songs of 2021 in Time magazine as number 5, being the first and only japanese song to have ever been featured there
This song is based on a novel. The story goes, a boy fell in love with a girl that was trying to commit suicide, she had a disease called the “Thanatos Disease”, Thanatos Disease is when a person is suffering from depression and mental health issues and can see the grim reaper itself. Thanatos is an personification of death and presumed as a grim reaper. So, the boy couldn’t take it anymore and says “I want to end it all” as it said in the lyrics falling right into Thanatos’s lap, meaning the girl was just the reaper in disguise and the boy was the one actually suffering from the Thanatos Disease and committed suicide later on.
In regards to Gunjou, the somg was inspired by the manga Blue Period. I honestly recommend giving it a read. Not only did it deservedly receive some awards it only just hits for anyone who works in a creator field. Or anyone who went through a coming of age phase. Or anyone with a dream. Or anyone with a passion. It's art that is about art. Truly a great manga that I can only recommend.
"Yoasobi" are amazing. I have no other words to describe them. All of their songs is a result of a masterful composer(Ayase), And a masterful vocalist(Ikura), Working together. And my god... their work is amazing...

Some Essentials Songs: “Automatic”, “First Love”, “Hikari” or “Simple and Clean”(English Version of Hikari), “One Last Kiss” One OK Rock - I think no explanation is needed for this band. One of the most popular and known Japanese bands in the world. Friends of Ed Sheeran, vocal Taka’s voice is out of this world and goes along with the emotional vibes you are feeling with the Japanese artists you have reacted. Consistent World Billboard rankers for rock and you will know the reason why from the get-go. Some Essential Songs: “Wherever you Are”, “We Are”, “Standout Fit In”, “Hello” (Adele cover), “Save Yourself” Ringo Sheena - Reigning queen of J-pop. You can hear from her style that she left a huge influence on existing J-pop artists, especially for the rising diva, Ado. Along with her band, Tokyo Incident, was a icon for people that did not vibe with the mainstream J-pop idols and “kawaii” culture. Some Essential Songs: “Crime and Punishment” (Ado recently released a cover of this song on her channel), “Gips”, “Marunouchi Sadistic”, “Instinct” Vaundy - Soon to be mastermind of Japanese Music scene. I think you will be interested just from the fact that he wrote Gyakkou for Ado. Only 22 and still a college student, all his singles have been in Japan’s top 100 since his appearance. His music consists of wide variety of genres, but most of them hit the sweet spot of nostalgia. Not only his singing abilities, but his talents as a designer and producer can be seen through his own CD arts and song contributions to major artists. Some Essential Songs: “Shiwaawase”, “Fukakouryoku”, “Kaiju no Hanauta”, “Odoriko” King Gnu - New genius, upcoming king of J-rock. Originally a cellist, the singer-songwriter of the band Daiki Tsuneta is a total genius combining classical music, jazz, rock, hip hop, black music into J-pop. Along with the angelic voice of of the main vocalist, Iguchi, I truly believe that they will hit globally eventually. Some Essential Songs: “Hakujitsu”, “Sanmonshibai”, “Hikoutei”, “Chameleon” I will stop here but there are others like Fujii Kaze, Mrs. Green Apple, Official Hige Dandism, LiSA, Chanmina, Awich and more… which all are epitome of J-pop.

Ooh YOASOBI has been on repeat on my playlists this year! Btw, a lot of really popular artists including YOASOBI and Yonezu Kenshi have their roots in Vocaloid which is why the lyrics are soo fast hahaha It goes hard, but makes it hell for when I try to sing it at karaoke XD

If I were to describe Jpop it is like many different genres packed into one. it's quite unique too and doesn't really try to appeal/adhere to international/western taste. Japan is the best known for their rock music so I really really recommend you checking out J rock too with amazing bands such as uverworld, official hige dandism, mrs green apple, king gnu, larc en ciel, one ok rock, mr. children, bump of chicken, spitz, radwimps, spyair, etc. However, you have to check out them all live especially uverworld, one ok rock and larc en ciel. Idk what it is with J artists but their live versions are wayyyyyyyyy better than studio versions.

Their songs are base on story of some kind, novel, short story etc. so Ikura sings as the characters as Yoasobi. She got her own songs as well :) They are like artist of the year for me last year. I really like their style. Thank you for the reaction! You should check out English versions of their songs. Some of the translations are so good in the way that you never seen before. They manage to make English sounds like Japanese which is really fascinating. My favorite is Tabun/Haven’t. (In term of the translation)
