*Who do YOU think the real Administrator is?* Also a quick for the record: I have no doubt that I am not the first nor only person to reach this conclusion. In roughly 1 week it will have been SEVEN YEARS since we last had any official Team Fortress lore, so I am sure at least one of the 100,000s of TF2 fans who have read the comics in that time have had the same theory, and I encourage you to share your alternate theories (or even better versions of this one!) to keep the conversation going. I wouldn't normally cross the bridge into fan theory territory, but when trying to write this as a "facts only" style video it became quicky apparent that that was basically impossible 😅 I tried to go a few steps further than I have before with the editing, too. Cinematic 2:1 aspect ratio anyone??? All the 3D lighting and camera work also brought my poor little computer to its needs, so I hope you enjoyed! Do let me know your feedback either way, I might not reply too often but I do read comments and will be especially reading the ones on this video :) As always, thanks for your patience and see you soon for Hale and Mann videos, and also some other stuff in between
Would be funny if the real answer to this problem with the two names is just that the Administrator's full name is Helen Elizabeth, or Elizabeth Helen.
There's alot of theories saying that The Administrator is in debt to Olivia Mann (The little girl Saxton refused to fight which made her the owner of Mann Co) The backbone of this theory is that Olivia is just has old as The Administrator and is using Australium to make herself younger, Main evidence for this is that Olivia has gold-ish eyes in the comics. It might be a bit too predictable but I have a strong feeling Olivia was gonna have something to do with the ending
One issue: how could Elizabeth extend her life with Australium BEFORE Radigan Conagher created the life extending machines? Is there another way she figured out on her own? Since the machines were specifically made for the Mann brothers…
Well Australians (per the comics) were the first to discover it, and its properties. Also, they were already many years ahead with technology. It may not be too farfetched that she bribed some of them to create a life extending machine for herself before knowing Radigan.
It may be the effects could be absorbed with contact or proximity. She basically pulls an Elizabeth Bathory but with Austrailium laced gravel instead of blood.
You know, at this point. I wish we could somehow get the lore answers from the writing team from the comics.... Heck, if they jist gave the community an outline, and some dialog, they could just legit make an "official unofficial" part 7.
This video really blew me away. I didn't realize the Administrator's background was so deep. Given the choice, I'd like to see the next video be about the Hales! Love your work Casper. Keep it up!
She made a deal with the G-Man. To what end, I don't know, but he's the suitcase man in the torn up part of the picture. TF2 is a Half-Life/Portal prequel
Portal is already pushing it, but I feel like TF2’s lore is far too silly to fit in with Half-Life. That would canonize Australium, Sunken Zealand, Shakespearicles, rocket-jumping being invented before stairs, etc. in Half-Life’s world. G-Man could still be present but I doubt it’s one timeline.
I don’t think her saying the 1 hour of Australian is long enough to finish what she started, I think she meant it’s enough to end it and lose gracefully
this is a damn great video! really clean and concise, and some brilliant visuals to boot. altho, i’m pretty sure when Charles Darling is referring to 150 years, he means that she has been collecting australium for 150 years, not that she’s been alive for 150 years. So if Helen IS Elizabeth, she would’ve started collecting australium around the time her nephews were born (1822). Which is interesting, because Loose Canon claims that Elizabeth started hunting australium around 1880. So there are a few options here. 1. Helen is Elizabeth’s daughter, and the “Elizabeth” name tag under the woman who gave Radigan the australium on Catch-Up is an error. 2. Helen is Elizabeth, and the “spent the last decade hunting it, ounce by ounce” thing is either a complete bullshit lie or an error (or a product of loose canonicity). 3. Helen is Elizabeth’s daughter, and somehow started her mass theft (likely) before she was even born and before her mother started the same mass theft. 4. Bullshit fourth explanation As for the Admin’s reflection in The Naked and the Dead, depending on the whole Elizabeth-Helen thing, I think it could either be Elizabeth discovering the youth-granting powers of australium for the first time, or a young Helen receiving her first bar of australium from Elizabeth. Oh yeah, one last thing I wanna talk about. In Unhappy Returns, while Miss Pauling acts out her orders to burn the Administrator’s genealogy records, she seems to spare a singular rolled-up paper from it. At first I thought it was the coordinates (either to meet Admin, or to Organ Needle), but she already received those earlier (and the paper is much smaller). Then I thought it was just the “Big Book of Mayoring” from the same issue, but unless the artist and colourist had a miscommunication, then that isn’t right either. So what would be so important in a genealogy record to (presumably) deliver back to the Admin? Sorry for the massive comment btw, it’s just relieving to see more in-depth discussion of the TF2 lore/comics outside of the hellscapes of Steam and Reddit forums.
I reread comics for the first time somewhere in 2022, five years after the last one released, and I grew up since, so I found myself, a) actually understanding and taking note of the little details; and b) absolutely loving Helen. Even if she didn't have as much pages as the mercs, Pauling, Gray, etc; She still caught my attention and fascination. I just fell in love with her character, especially her final dialogue with Dell in the last comics. Now with even Australium gone, she is the only thread that still connects the past with the present. And the dialogue itself... It is amazing. The page of Helen looking at her younger self is the moment I felt her character, I felt a writer's connection with how deep and interesting she is, with how easily she intrigued me. Honestly, after years of waiting, I just hope that, when it happens, they are going to make it all worth the wait. I was never really the fan of Helen and Elizabeth being different people, I think that the opposite makes her character even more menacing. Yeah, I can also see how there is this possibility, but I feel like Elizabeth is probably dead then, since Dell is with Helen and she kinda uses all the remaining Australium on herself
What a good theroy, I cant wait to see if its true in the next comic Should be releasing any second now.....aaannnny second now......SEE ITS OUT, no wait, thats the "coming soon" label
We can be sure that her plan is not to live forever, because in the comics she did say that she doesn't need to stay alive forever, only enough to solve her debt
YES GOOD SHOW, I've been bouncing around similar ideas, it's really nice to see something like this lay out everything in canon - the fact that you reached a similar conclusion is vindicating
We know plenty about the Manns, I want to know more about how the Hales fit into this. However, you brought up a good point. What is the Administrator's evil plan? What debt can she settle in one hour what she couldn't do in 150 years?
everyone keeps forgetting olivia with her yellow gold eyes just like the administrator when she injected all that australium i think she is the key to all of this
From what I remember from the secret doomsday script, (That no one seems to talk about in these TF2 lore videos, despite being canon info) the Administrator told the government about her plans due to her being the one behind the Poopy Joe disaster, with one of her own personal mercenary teams swapping the austrailium with Gravel Water. She tells the government her true motives (Heavily censored of course), and the reason why she hired the tf2 mercs, (So they wouldn’t suspect her ulterior motives.) and it disturbed them so much that they wouldn’t interfere further.
Really going all game theory on the important stuff like tf2. Always love tf2 lore from how unapologetically messy it all is. Not fnaf messy, but you get it, lol.
Apparently there was a (unconfirmed) leaked script of the final TF2 comic where it was revealed that the "debt" the Administrator owed to was to an eldritch abomination taking the physical form of Abraham Lincoln. As for the "debt" itself, it was supposed to be some form of ritualistic sacrifice to the evil being which would've explained the reason why the Gravel Wars even happened in the first place. There's a video by Richter Overtime where he actually discusses the supposed leaked script where he further dives into what could've been.
I can see that working. The eldritch thing took the form of an authority she respected as a kid. Everybody is taught that Lincoln was a cool dude, why wouldn't you do him a favor? Like tricking your siblings into fighting and killing each other over something petty and stupid. The eldritch thing could even then take forms of people Team Fortress look up to (Pauling for Scout, Scout's mom for Spy, etc.)
Elizabeth is the mother of Gray and his sister Helen, thats why Helen look so much like Elizabeth and why Zephenaia put her in charge of the gravel and Gray. When Elizabeth died Helen was old enought to take her place as administrator. She used it to make her brother Gray plan possible. I don't think Elizabeth was able to prolong her life for that long with australium. For thatshe would have need a device like Blu, Red and Gray got to be immortal. With just being in contact with pure austalium ingots can only have a limited effect of aging.
I have always thought that Helen/The Administrator and Elizabeth different people. Her being fascinated with Australium happened when she was a child which would have been before she new the Mann's. Elizabeth still being alive is an interesting idea, but how and why? I don't think that it's a good thing she has been alive so long (for her). sm
what if elizabeth changed her name after a while, to helen? Which is why people like pauling and hale wouldn’t know her real name, only her changed one
For as long as I have been through the comics, I always theorized that since the story is wrapping up for TF2... The 7th comic would dictate the FINAL TF2 update. Because this is the true finale, TF2 wouldn't have a happy ending because it's not that kind of game with that kind of story like Overwatch. When the Administrator is dead, the Mercs will go unemployed again, even Miss Pauling. Whatever they will do in the 7th comic, is their last mission. After that? Team Fortress disbands once more, and perhaps, for the last time.
I firmly believe she is the older sister of the Mann brothers. Clearly Zepheniar had no regard for the opposite sex, baring simply getting heirs to his business. And considering the general attitude towards women at that time, he would never entrust a women to running Mann .Co.
I like to think that it's a mother/daughter situation and there was the affair as mentioned at the end of the video. As for the debt, I imagine it's connected to Hale because of his involvement with the mercenaries and will though it's been a few years since I've read the comics. Meet the Manns would be great as the next video. Glad to see you uploading again as well. Do you still stream?
I've always wondered how long would someone would have to be exposed to oure Australiam until they grow permanent super abilities including strength intelligence and most if all immortality such as mr hale whom appears to ni linger need to reiley on the substance how ever due to how old the Administrators would be in contrast to Sexton that means it would have to have been an Inherited from the parent whom probably would have had to conceive of the child (IE Saxton Hale) in order to enhance the baby thus gifting it those same traits without the drawback as constantly needing more Australiam to keep those abilities such as fir the rest of Australia after they ran out however not even the youngest seem to have inherited the Australiam Powers from their parents meaning that perhaps a parent would need to be exposed for a long enough time as well as having a lot over time. Perhaps explaining why engineer appears to be even smarter than his grandfather or perhaps simply matched due to this.
I always that the administrator was just an old woman with the same goal as Gray: To get as much australium as possible, but it may turn out to have other motives. To be honest, this could possibly extend tf2 lore even further WITHOUT any more official sources, since Valve is too lazy to make any more lore for tf2.

Australium can extend life and give cool perks to those who are just close to it
