Nice video. I am flying first time on Q400 next week. I am lil nervous coz I never flown on any prop plane. But after watching your video I am okay. My flight is from myrtle beach to Newark.

I hope you enjoy your prop flight. Also remember that a turbo-prop engine is still turbine / jet fuel powered just like a regular jet engine. The prop engine scoops air in the front and compresses the air which mixes and burns with jet fuel. That is what spins the propeller. Same idea as a regular turbofan jet engine. I think you will really enjoy your flight.

I remember seeing United Express Q400’s at the Denver airport, I missed seeing these birds at the airports and in the sky

Overall, a very good experience. It is larger than the CRJ-200 by 20 seats I believe and has a more comfortable cabin. The prop sound is nice and quiet too.

LOVE MCI! Was based there with TWA years ago.

Wow that is awesome! What position did you work with TWA? MCI was a wonderful airport. Unfortunately the TWA museum was closed when I was visiting however, I still walked in and viewed the walls covered with classic TWA photos.

You always feel the landing because of the small tires. Best passenger air conditioning in the industry. One air vent will blow you away. Most passengers love the the airplane and the young flight attendants on the commuter airlines-ops now they called regional airlines. The pilots love the APFCS- Autopilot Flight Control System

Did you fly Alaska/Horizon? I was very impressed with the Q400 as this was my first flight on one. It was much more comfortable than the CRJ-200 and the in-cabin noise was about the same as a regional jet.

Thank you! It is so cool to have a clear view on the landing gear. I always like watching the tires hit the runway pavement during the landing :)

Seems like props on that a/c needs to be balanced :)

Haha, yeah those large props can make quite a buzz on some of these aircraft.

Going to fly on Q400 from Den to MCI in spring too! Thanks for sharing. My seat is 9A so the view should be similar. Was the engine noisy?

What cruising altitude do these fly at? I'm taking one next month from edmonton to kelowna.

Tremayne Tyler It looks like the max cruise altitude for the Q400 is 25K feet for the "standard version"

Dominic Mammone Thanks for watching. I have a camera now that does a little better on sound but, the Q400 is actually very quiet inside compared to the early Dash-8-200s etc...

The only turboprop where ATC tells the pilot " fly 250 kts to the marker"

Joshua Zabriskie Thanks for watching. What part wasn’t enjoyable for you? I’m assuming a pretty bumpy flight taking off from DEN?

bombardier Q-series, de havilland DHC-8, dash 8... Different names for the same planes

    • @thecaynuck4694
      @thecaynuck4694 4 ปีที่แล้ว

Actually, it was originally called De Havilland Canada Dash 8 Q400 and it is again now cause Bombardier sold it to another Canadian company that reverted the name back to its original.
