Hey this is a great tutorial! Only one correction though, this version of Flash is Macromedia Flash MX 2004, otherwise known as version 7 (which is shown when the program is started). Macromedia Flash 8 was released a bit later in 2005 and doesn't have the MX branding on it.

Ive never used the library when animating because I usually use android so I use the flipaclip app or I just draw my frames on paint and save it on dropbox

hey uhm- commenting a bit late but for some reason when i try to draw with my drawing tablet it moves the whole canvas and sometimes wont even draw?? idk how to describe it but it's really glitchy, and ive tried multiple fixes but it still wont work. the tablet im using is a VEIKK A30 V2 Drawing Tablet, so idk if that affects anything but it's just acting really weird and if there's any fixes i'd appreciate them

For some odd reason whenever I make another keyframe to draw, the onion skin doesnt work it just blends into the previous frame whenever i draw
do insert blank keyframe, the onion skin button is near the fps number

i have a question have can i save or download my animation? i do that, but the saved animation wont open.
To save, you click File, then Save as, and save as a .fla file. To download the animation, I click File, then export movie. Then save the .swf file. I use a tool called "Swivel" to render the animation as .mp4 videos. You can download it here: www.newgrounds.com/wiki/creator-resources/flash-resources/swivel#wiki_toc_2

Bro, I have Adobe Flash Profesional CS6. THat means I can literally Can use Bone Tool.
DOwnload flash 8, it is also free. (google the serial code) Flash 8 is bettter and newer. It does not crash when you click on panels like the tool panel.

I have a XP-Pen, and it wont work with flash, it used to, but now its not. help?
I have an XP-Pen tablet too, (More specifically the Deco-01) and it works perfectly fine. Maybe try re-installing the tablet drivers.
You're missing key elements for newbies: why does the pikachu disappear before the second frame? whats onion skin? why do you have to extend the frames? what's a symbol? ecc ecc
I was 3 years younger and this tutorial is kinda outdated. 😭
i’m late but i’ll tell you
1. the pikachu disappeared because the new frame was blank
2. onion skin is an option that lets you see the previous/next frames with a lower opacity as a guide so that u can properly animate (cuz how can u draw the next frame if u cant see the first one. the animation is gonna be VERY inconsistent and make no sense that way)
3. you dont HAVE to, but many times extending frames can be very useful. u can make the animation stay still for abit rather than move constantly, it looks more natural
4. symbols are a thing vital to flash animation, you are able to put multiple frames in a group if it makes sense? (like if you were to import a gif on a video editor). they are tricky to use though but once u have it figured out they’re rly good

Hey can we even export these animations in say FBX format for use like in blender or Unreal Engine ?

Well sorry dude but nowadays, there's no one/no company to pay for this program, even if we wanted to. I don't think we should shame ppl if they decide to use a program almost 2 decades old, especially if it's just out there in public domain on the internet. @@REVAMPEDROSES i plan to use the software full time, I want to try professionalism on it (aka animating frame by frame humanoid characters and backgrounds) backgrounds are my BIGGEST issue, they look childish no matter how hard i try... just look at my projects here and tell me different lol (comic store frenzy's BGs weren't done by me)

Firefox5013 it's a HUION. It does have pen pressure but when I "draw" on my tablet the mouse cursor does not work or won't move
Hmm. I’m honestly not sure what to do. I don’t use a huion tablet. If your tablet was working fine before, then it might just be the program’s fault.
