- Our current gate-guarding gig is coming to a close, but we don’t know exactly when, so we did a dumb thing and started a MASSIVE RV project. We’re attempting to repair cracked RV graphics as a cheaper way to spruce up the outside. But we’re not only racing against the clock; we’re also fighting that West Texas wind, which isn’t ideal for spray painting.

As online entrepreneurs, we thought, "why not work from home... on the road"? So in 2019, we bought and renovated a 2005 Jayco Designer Fifth Wheel, which took us to every state in the lower 48. But the economy hit our business especially hard after the 'vid, spurring us to pivot in new directions and try different strategies, including various RV work camping jobs!

I am a new subscriber, and I just randomly found y’all on TH-cam. What caught my eye was the “abandoned dog” episode in Texas. Unfortunately, we do have a big problem with dogs being abandoned, and I do help out at my local dog shelters I have binge watched y’all all evening and I am so glad everything is working out for you. I have a dog named Trinity, and when I watch your videos every time y’all mention the word, Trinity my dog, Trinity’s ears, always pop up😂.

My wife and i just talked about decals as well and how ugly they usually are. We rather go with a unicolour (like battleship grey). But any RV without factory designed decals is a beautiful RV ;) Thanks for the video. And a big hello from our small TH-cam channel to you both!
We love a lot of the newer styles of rv exteriors that are very minimalistic! We considered doing something different with the pattern on this one but decided not to because we knew that you would still be able to see the "shadow" of the old decals once we removed them. So we just went with some fresh color. 🙂

Thanks so much! I think we finally figured out (thanks to everyone being so amazing in here) that it's self adhesive automotive side body molding or something very similar. The main thing that separated this from everything else i was finding is that this didn't go into a channel of any sort. -J

any auto parts store sells it if its out on the shelf it should be in the body section and then if you go to a rv dealer ask them for a body trim package it should give you enough for both sides

I've removed a bunch of decals from my RV. Use WD-40 to soak the decal and it will help dissolve the glue on the back of the decals. Also, it won't hurt the rest of the RV surface. Yours looks great.

Full disclosure I didn't expect to like this video based on the title, but I absolutely loved it. The RV looks amazing! The blue is perfect. Also that 303 protectant is a great product. You can use it on lots of stuff too. Awnings, slide toppers, vinyl trim, seals, etc.

Look into a Halo wireless GPS Dog fence collar for Trinity. It would be peace of mind for your guys.
I considered Halo...but 20% of their reviews on Amazon are 1 star and that scares me off a bit for a product this expensive. Of course I never expect a product to be all 5 star reviews, but when 1/5 of the reviews are single star and they usually have to do with defective products combined with poor customer service...I don't want to take the risk that I might fall into that category and be out $600. -J

RV Floor and belt trim
Everything I see about that it fits in a channel - this is self adhesive and sticks directly to the outside. I do think from the comments section here that we got our answer though!! -J
Love the colors! I would never have thought of spray painting the graphics on. Now, if you ever sell your camper you can call it full body paint 🤣🤣

At this point the only way we'd ever consider producing more content is if we had another editor. The editing alone takes 20-25 hours per video (although this one took over 30 because we hit some big story telling snags in the process). This is by no means a complaint! We're enjoying the process.

Nice! We just stripped and polished our decals off of our 2008 wildcat. I have been debating on new decals or painting but not sure if we want to really go down that road. interesting to see how yours turned out, I like it!
After this I don't think I would ever do decals. IF I was independently wealthy I might consider a wrap...but we're not so spray paint it is! 😂 -J

RV belt moulding.
Your tire wear is definitely not from shocks. You have toe-in wear, the axles need to be checked for being bent, wheel bearings loose, etc.
When laying out paint lines the edges are easiest laid out with 1/4" pinstripe tape (sharp, smooth edges and curves) then apply your masking.
When spraying paint don't wave the can back and forth. Long, straight passes that extend into the masking are what you want. If you have a thin spot you can cover it with the next coat.
RV Belt moulding: Do they still make it self adhesive? Because this isn't the typical moulding with inserts that I keep finding elsewhere. This was self adhesive and 1 piece. No screws. No track.
Tire wear has actually improved immensely since replacing the shocks. Hasn't completely solved it but you'd be...shocked 😁 at how much better it's gotten.
We're certainly not experts at painting but we're pretty proud of it being our DIY selves. -J

I don’t know if i mentioned this b4, but replacing ur shocks is a good idea buuuuuuuuuut…..u need to get ur axles/leaf springs looked @.
I had to replace my axles and leaf springs. Easy diy, just takes some elbow grease
Replacing axles will not be an easy DIY for me (Did you see me try the "easy" DIY of dropping my trucks fuel tank?? 😂)
But I'm hoping if it's not the shocks that the issue is an alignment. The leaf springs aren't flattening out and all the linkages still appear to be solid (although I'm not a trained technician by any stretch of the imagination). -J

Hello Open Roading, we just watched your video tonight and you asked about the side moulding on your trailer. It appears to me to be similar to what I would refer to as an "Automotive belt moulding" often used as side moldings on cars, I just checked on Amazon and found a couple of examples you just need to know the width and most use a 3M adhesive tape to hold them to the surface. If you need more help I can send links
