I just had this happen after buying a used 2023 with 10k miles from a Toyo dealer. Your method worked like a charm. Thank you! Will be talking to the dealer about this and let you know what they say.

I’m glad this helped and will be interested in what they say. I haven’t been able to get information and think the software is overthinking things to the point it gets confused and shows full. That’s just my guess.

And all this time I thought my tank had a special feature that helped save gas since it shuts off when I'm idle or at a light. SMH...😮 thanks for the tip!

Thank you for this. I have the same problem when the tank is 3/4 and park with the front end even slightly uphill. I’ll definitely be using this trick in the future

I didn’t realize Tacomas are having the same issue. I’m glad this helped.

It just happened to my new tundra with 100 miles.. I am wondering if there is going to be a recall to fix this issue

My 2024 just did this today. 1 week old, and this anomoly is still happening in 3rd year of production. I'm regretting trading my 5.7 v8....

Has anyone heard of a fix for this? Service department after I told them this did a software update. That didn’t work. Happened 1 month later after that update. So annoying and dangerous thinking you have more gas than you actually do.

When I ask about it, I get a puzzled look. If the gauge isn’t in the center of the tank then moving it to the center would probably be the real fix. Short of that, it’s about trying to teach the computer to ignore the fuel level if it’s parked on an incline. Just my thoughts.

My understanding is that the shape of the tank has something to do with it. It’s a long tank that rides under the passenger which means any slight incline makes a big difference on the fuel level at either end of the tank. I don’t know where the gauge is but assume it’s toward the back. When you park on an incline the fuel level is higher in the back than it is in the front. The opposite is true if you park with the front of the truck facing downhill. That sometimes confuses the computer into thinking you’ve filled the tank so it shows full. Nobody has confirmed that, but it’s my guess. Anybody know for sure?

God damn my new 2024 is doing this too!!!! Only 600 miles. Hell I got out of a Chevrolet to a tundra truck so I don’t have stupid issues with Japanese trucks. I guess I was wrong!! I suppose any makes are just pretty much problems these days. It’s hit or miss I guess 😮 not happy

I got out of a Chevy as well. Once I get below 3/4 of a tank, I don't seem to have the issue. It struggles in the 3/4-to-Full range. I changed cars around and don't drive my truck much, and I've generally kept my tank below half so I'm not hauling the weight around town. Since I posted this video, I haven't had the issue and I think it's due to those two factors. Whenever I have the issue again, I'll post a new video on the second method to reset it. I shut off CarPlay (issues I show in my other video), because the electronics issues are annoying. That said, I have hope that we'll be happier in the long run with the Toyota.
