  • My honest thoughts about my Rollerblade Maxxum Edge 125/Maxxum 125. Shot on my phone, not rehearsed, one take, just honest feedback. I am not sponsored by anyone nor do I have the equipment to make a polished review. I love the skate but will point out anything I'm not happy with which is really only one point on the line, otherwise it's great, well done Rollerblade!

    Thanks, you answered my Question. I was confused about the 2 different Versions and now, i know this one is the upgraded one.

    Great video. I had Seba Trix 2 but they had no ventilation and my foot would sweat and heat up fast. I loved my old twisters but I wore out the liner. I wanted more ventilation with the same thick liner as the twister so Im hoping my prayers are answered with this skate. 125 wheels are great too!! Hydrogen wheels just keep going. I do urban and marathon skating. lots of jumps.

      I also had the Trix2, they were very comfortable but felt slow and heavy. Your ankle is also not very well supported in the Trix and you notice it if you try and use a 125 tri setup on that skate. These are far more supportive in comparison. If you're coming from an 80mm wheel though 125 will seem huge and your ankles may pronate a bit, if so loosen the frame bolts and move the frames inward slightly to correct it.

      I also tried a short 3 x 125 frame on these and did some urban with jumps, be careful if you do, at such a big wheel you sometimes roll a bit in your ankle as the cuff on these is quite flexible intentionally. They are designed that way to make them great for speed and distance. The Twister in comparison has a much stiffer cuff and is better for jumping, you can put this same frame and wheel set on it. If you're only jumping off curbs etc you'll be fine but big gaps it big heights I would recommend Twister Pro over this for that type of skating.

    Thanks for the Maxxum review. Does the Gravity 11.6" frame have 195mm mounting slots? As far as I can tell, it only has 165mm mounting slots, but I wonder if there would be space for drilling/filing 195mm slots (if necessary for mounting on my speed boots).

      On this one it's only 165 but there are two versions of the Gravity frame getting about online. The first one was for the Endurance and E2 boot that was 195 so that frame I think has both 195 and 165. On the Endurance it was a black and white frame, it could take a max wheel size of 110. On the E2 it was a silver frame with black shading graphics on it and it could take a 125 wheel, I think that's still has two holes for 165 and 195. You can find them in various shops online in Europe where people sold the boot only and kept the frame in the shop. I think that was also being sold directly from Rollerblade too. Now the third and final version of it is what's on this skate and it's 165mm only and I've never seen it sold separately online anywhere and Rollerblade are bringing out all their new frames that are duel mount like a 4 x 90 and 3 x 110 in one frame. The only thing they seem to be selling for 125 is their REVV frame (I think that's the name) that comes with their REVV BOA. It's 12.8" long but they don't seem to have a shorter or mid length in 125 unless you buy this skate or have a way of ordering it by the part number from a Rollerblade distributor somewhere.

      Thanks indeed! It's difficult to find complete/accurate information. I appreciate your reply. I'll look for that E2 frame. I've become somewhat convinced that a shorter 3x125 frame would be better for me than what I've been using (12.6 and 13.2). @@ofpplayer

    I was wondweing why my Maxxum XT boot (2022 4x90 version of this skate) was shredding my liner, but not the Twister 110. Haha.

    • @ofpplayer
      @ofpplayer  ปีที่แล้ว

      I've since been given a new liner as a warranty replacement but it's essentially the Twister liner and has a different material on the outer which hopefully (fingers crossed) won't rub away or shred from the material on the tongue rubbing against it

    Thanks for posting. The warnings of this being a skinny feet only skate have put me off until now. Looking to skate the bike path beside The Northern Road for fitness as well as terrorizing my local bike path at Picton. In your opinion will the Maxum 125 do the job?

    • @ofpplayer
      @ofpplayer  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@SecretSqurrl Absolutely! And yes it definitely will fit wider toes and feet but not ultra wide, just wide. I can confirm the 2022 models onward of the Maxxum are extremely comfortable. This week I did a 300km skate in 18 hours as part of a bigger event where a skater was skating for 24 hours to raise money for charity. There's a video of it here instagram.com/reel/DBXsuLXvqJ6/?igsh=eXRoYXJjYW14Znh2

    If you're going without laces that's why is rubbing I think.

    • @ofpplayer
      @ofpplayer  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No, the area where the tongue rubs against the inside of the liner is above the area where the laces stop so it's not the reason. The tongue has to be able to flex forward or else you couldn't bend forward to skate. The mistake is that the material used for the tongue is not smooth, it's rough in texture so as it rubs against the liner it wears out the liner

    • @SaccoBelmonte
      @SaccoBelmonte 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@ofpplayer Interesting. Can't tell why then, all I can say is that I have two pairs of Twister XT and one Twister 3WD and I do lace nice and tight to the top. In two years I don't see any such rubbing. just checked and there's no damage to the fabric. I do know the tongue doesn't bend forwards alone, the whole cuff/liner sides/tongue assembly comes all forward together as an unit on each stride.

    • @SaccoBelmonte
      @SaccoBelmonte 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@ofpplayer I also see the maxxum has no front plastic on the cuff, right? So, if you don't lace up to the top the tongue will for sure come forward above the strap.

    • @ofpplayer
      @ofpplayer  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@SaccoBelmonte I also have the Twister and don't have this problem there, only on the maxxum because of the more flexible cuff allows much more forward movement

    • @ofpplayer
      @ofpplayer  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@SaccoBelmonte but you might have a point though as I confess even when I had laces in it I didn't use the two eyelets in the liner, I only used the eyelets on the plastic boot. I think I tried to lace up all the way to the top once and didn't like it because my laces were barely long enough and it didn't allow enough forward flex for me because I'm used to speed skates

    The one question I have is if these wheels help you across rough surfaces better than for instance 90 mm wheels. And is the difference very noticeable?

    • @ofpplayer
      @ofpplayer  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@gguitarwilly yes! 100% Once you go to big wheels you'll never go backwards, they just roll over cracks in the pavement, bad surfaces, grass, dirt, anything and give you a smoother and faster ride. They are also much less work over long distances but up to a point. If you're not a strong skater, 125mm might be extra work. 110mm is a better choice there. You get the advantages of big wheels, speed, smoother ride etc but it's not too high a gear to push so to speak. 125mm require a little bit more effort to get moving but once they are moving they hold the roll for longer and in most cases faster too. After converting all my skates to 110 and above, I went went back to a 4x100mm to test it. I lasted one skate. The ride was too rough and slow. I did the same with 90mm then quickly got rid of them for the sand reason. The wheel design does make a difference though, if it's basic or cheap you feel it more compared to quality urethane like a Rollerblade Hydrogen wheel for example in the smaller sizes. I now have multiple setups again including a 5x80, 4x100 and a 4x110 but all three of these setups are rockered. I use them for social meetups where we are only going short distances and using only really smooth pavement, practicing tricks and so on. I use one of those three depending on how far we're going and how much of it will be a trail skate or exploring unknown trails. The further the distance or more unknown the trail, the bigger the wheel setup I choose that day. For everything long distance (30km and above) I always just take these or another boot I have in 3x125 that's got a longer frame and a carbon fibre boot for speed and efficiency. Give big wheels a go, you'll never look back. The only thing you might want small wheels for after that is for things where quick acceleration or precise movements are required such as inline hockey or slalom skating using plastic cones or lastly if you're doing a lot of massive jumps and you want ankle stability when you land. Those three instances the smaller wheels and lower height off the ground are helpful, for everything else, big wheels are better.

    whice one is better Between maxxum 125 and powerslide swell stellar 125

    • @ofpplayer
      @ofpplayer  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I've never owned Swell because Powerslide don't make many skates in sizes bigger than 12. I think rollerblade make better products though. Powerslide make more stuff but seem to do cheaper quality. If you have thin ankles you might be ok with Powerslide but I have heard they hurt a lot of people's ankles so Rollerblade are better for thicker ankles I would say
