To most non opera listeners, Nessus Dorma is probably the one song they most associate with the great man, but for me this is my favourite. It shows not only his awesome power but also the tenderness that only great singers can convey.
⁸Under the roof of the old tower a friendly sparrow has returned, when the almond tree blossoms. She comes back every year, always on the same date. She crosses seas and mountains to return. Only love, when it escapes, goes far away. You hope in vain,it never comes back. In the sweet evening twilight, Spring passes. The sparrows chirp in their flight, drunk with light and air, and I am sad and lonely. You don't cross seas and mountains to come back. Oh, my dear, you were all my life! You have gone away, and you never come back !
Is today anyone who is able to do the same? He operates his voice like piano virtuoso, at the level unreachable for others. I remember, that he was not able to do this at the very beginning of his career (he was in my country at this time). But year after year he was finding something like "idea" of the best interpretation of several opera arias. How that illumination can be found? And where? This mystery has gone with Him.
"The kind of voice that appears only once in a hundred years!", well, maybe longer as far as I know and seen, considering the Maestro was born on 1935. Thank you Luciano Pavarotti for this perfect rendition in your perfect voice! (God! this pianissimo acute notes at the end, who else has sung like that, forgetting the rest of his amazing vocal abilities?!!).
The most beautiful sound that a human has ever made. At the end, even more beautiful than that flute. Impossible. We were so lucky. I saw him twice in concert.Amazing
👍👍👍👍👍👍👌👌👌👌👌👌👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷
It saddens me a little to think that many people nowadays look down at opera as too "old fashioned" or think of it as music only "snobby" people listen to. I may be considered the least snobby person, especially to those who know me. I don't care where a purse, shoe, article of clothing or piece of technology come from and what brand name it is. It's functionality and ability for endurance matters more than it's name or price tag to me. But music like this demands to be appreciated. His voice truly is superb. To think there are in fact many who wouldn't give it the time of day is just absurd.
lady and ill assume you are. im feeling what your saying. im a 58 year old dope fiend ex- convict. etc. and if any one doesnt understand that this kinda music isnt the best on earth i cant help them . no one can. and yes im also a van nuys hill billy and listen to both kinds of music country and western. i also love rock, and rap. but this classical stuff moves me like nothing else well except maybe the blues. my 2 cents. thank you
Thank you very much for appreciating Opera. I am Italian and I could sing as a tenor in an amateur Opera choir. Anyway the song "Rondine al nido"sang by Pavarotti is not an aria from an Opera but a classical italian song.

Has huido, y no regresas más.
It was even performed by Robert Picardo in an Episode of Star Trek Voyager, and it wasn't bad at all .. in all , each time I hear it , one has to struggle not to shed a tear.
An angel who had blessed us mortals for such a short time.
The 72 people who thumbed this down are friggin nuts...
D'accordo
Probably opera singers. Silly
They must be dead inside
He only lived 71 years as every time he sang, a small piece of his soul was spent. God let us mortals hear what an angel actually sounds like.

Oh, me too... such beautiful words so sublimely sung!
frankly, the most non opera listeners are not able to even associate anything with pavarotti, they hardly know about him...
100% agree. I'm an ópera listener and singer. To listeners or non listeners your comment is totally true. I hope i learn it and sing it sometime
Thanks to the Doctor from Star Trek Voyager, I know about this, and it's my favorite too
I completely agree.
Sei fugito e non torni piu...Caro Luciano~
This is by far his best song, it's magnificent, I am speechless.
❤
I can't understand a word he is singing -- and yet, I understand every word he is singing. Bob almighty this is amazing.

Live long and prosper 🖖
When you hear this you know there s hope for a better world...
I come back to listen to Maestro Pavarotti every few days in my mind.
So stable voice, so strong, so charming!! He knew exactly how to sing every letter in every word.!!! Rest in peace grande MAESTRO!
Thankyou Maestro Pavarotti! ❤❤❤
I love opera but hadn't heard this piece until the doc sang it on Voyager. This piece is absolutely beautiful

Full of the love of life. And now that he is no longer with us his love still resides among us...in song and history. Bravissimo Luciano!!! 🌹

Absolutely beautiful from the opening phrase to the end. Pavarotti was a great tenor, but we may have taken him for granted while he was alive. R.I.P.

LA MUSICA PIU BELLA DEL MONDO
My grandfather was a huge fan of Pavarotti as myself. This song was our personal favourite. Ah!, beautiful childhood memories!
God made many great voices. He made this Maestro, and said “perfect.”
Words cannot do it justice.

I like the version of Roberto 'Il Dottore' Picardo with lower register as well, but Pavarotti is still the goat of all tenors. :)
I didn't know he had sung it, so went to find it. Wholeheartedly agree!
@@scottishlore I like your last name, like the brother of Data. :)
I agree.
There may never be a voice that is more beautiful than that flute. Magical talent. RIP maestro. I saw him twice in concert. A gift from God

Rondine Al Nido, certamente a minha preferida. Pavarotti e essa incrível flauta
They used this piece at the dancing fountains at the Bellagio in Las Vegas, I was awestruck by the music and the majesty.
Melodia Napoletana.
So very beautiful. Sung from his beautiful heart.

What a complete composition this piece is. It plays with one's emotions at will...
siempre en la misma fecha;
montes y mares ella cruza para regresar.
Solo al amor
cuando huye y se va lejos
espero en vano, y no regresa más.
En la penumbra dulce de la noche

Embriagadas de luz y aire,
Y yo estoy triste y solo;
Montes y mares tú no cruzas para regresar.
Mi pequeñita, fuiste toda mi vida!
Has huido, y no regresas más.
Perfection, heavenly, goosebumps, childhood memories of my Italian parents playing this song on the stereo turntable.
That is such a delightful memory. Thank you for sharing.
Nessuno è più Grande di lui!
Such a beautiful voice. I love tenors.
This recording make me cry
This song fits especially well for Voyager's journey 🖖❤️🖖

I have heard others sing this air but Luciano is perfect.
He is right, it does not come back. How painful are life's lessons?
