I turned 59 last week, but I chose me when I turned 54. I have no desire to appease any human being. I have a very simple life, and I love it. I enjoy nature, my dog, and my family. It has afforded me an opportunity to focus on what matters the most. I focus on my spiritual relationship with God, my physical health, and my mental health. I protect my peace at all costs. I only spend when it's absolutely necessary. I have "zero debt." At the age of 38, I made a decision to become debt free, so that I owe no man nothing but my love. I love having my morning coffee on my back patio outside while listening to the birds and watching the deer. When you find peace, there is nothing like it. You truly don't care about what's going on in the world. I love seeing all the beautiful things that God has created, and I'm in complete awe because his presence is all around us in the beauty of nature.❤
I wish I could have gone against societal norms when I was working a corporate job and caring for my elderly mother who lived miles from me. What I really wanted and needed was to quit my high-pressure job and move in with my mom. I thought it was impossible to do, though. I was alone with only one income and a house note and I needed that company pension. So I kept on working and burning the candle at both ends. My mother's gone now and I can never get those years back. And it's difficult if not impossible to reverse the toll all this took on my health.
I feel you my friend. We seem to have similar stories. It is so difficult to give up our positions when bills must be paid. You sound like a great daughter and please remember to attend to your health today. God bless you ❤️❤️
@@almaburns6562 Thx. I too buried my mom last year, just before turning 60. It was the longest, most stressful time of my life. I now weigh more than I ever have and it’s frustrating and so challenging. 58 and the same. I have no interest in complexity (stuff and big living spaces and striving) or eating horrible food and getting drunk with family and friends. Much rather be minimalist, do my job and eat healthy (with intermittent fasting which is life changing - down 40 pounds).
Same here. I’m 51 and I workout, eat well , lost of fruits and vegetables, plenty of sleep. I don’t deal with toxic people because that’s a drain on me. I prefer a slower life where I can breathe and just be myself.

You make such valid points in this video! I had a six figure corporate job for 5 years that I hated but felt like I couldn't quit. During COVID I was let go because as a director you don't need us you need the people critical to running the business, not someone who directs. I live in an at will employee state so the letter just said my "at will employment was being ended". I have never been so relieved. That moment saved my life. My health both physical and mental was declining and my mother was in late stage dementia. I got to spend more time with her before she entered hospice and eventually passed in December of 2020. Since then, I have reevaluated societal norms of wanting to break the glass ceiling. At, 54, my children are now adults, and I prefer to live a life of peace at a slower pace, with more intention. Spending time with my husband and doing work that I love.
Many thanks to living an intentional life and spending time with your Mother. I admire your direction and being such a blessing to your family and yourself. 🌼💛

I just turned 50, and I absolutely agree about living a simpler life. I had to reevaluate some things and do certain things to make my life easier. I'm an emptinester to a 25 year old son and a 1 year old grandson. I get to watch my grandson twice a week to help out and I love it. I work for myself which allows me to adjust my schedule as need be, but if I was still working a regular 9 to 5 I wouldn't be able to do that.
You’re my hero. God bless! Thank you for being an ultimate grandma. In my opinion, you have the greatest job on earth as a parent. Thank you for commenting.💛
Well said! I’ve been a caregiver for my daughter for over 30 years while working full time. It has been a juggle to say the least. But I am also learning to slow it down and prioritize my health. Rest should not be a reward, it is mandatory to live a healthy happy life.
As a Registered Oncology Nurse (retired) as well as the caregiver in my family as well, I HEAR & AGREE with you. I'm so happy to hear you have found a way to "survive" in the mist of the demands on you . God bless & God speed to you❤
I turn 33 soon and have been doing a lot of reflecting about the very things mentioned in this video. This was fantastic wisdom that I needed to hear. Thank you and God bless 💕🫶🏾✨.
Good video. I'm a 'European' (Brit) amd there are good and bad points about life here. Negatives are our salaries are much lower than yours, average UK salary is about £30k and most earn less than that. Salaries havent risen with inflation. Cost of living keeps getting higher. Housing is too expensive. Positives are the NHS when it works, we have decent employment rights, maternity and paternity leave, disability accommodations, 30 days holiday and yes most towns and cities are walkable. We have lots of nice parks and woodland here and also lots of free or low cost activities going on. Main issue is salaries and housing. I think other European countries currently have a better balance than us.
Thank you for sharing your experiences living in the UK. Seems like we all have a lot of similarities and differences all at once. I certainly appreciate sharing of the key issues. 💛

Very much identify with your message - my dad has dementia and I moved back to be closer; the whole thing has really made me step back and reevaluate what is a priority and what matters, including self care. Anyway I was just thinking of talking about life's realities behind the scenes when I stumbled on your video!

Agreed. Same for single mothers who choose to raise their children properly. I taught my children how to invest because saving money is not the way-something I was not taught. I bike, run, walk in nature and prioritize my self care and health. You can’t do that working round the clock. True, you can’t “have it all.”
Happy I found your channel! This is totally where I am in life and it is nice to find someone that is relatable! Thank you for sharing your process with us.

I'm right there with you, although a little later in life. I was able to retire at 60, I'm 64 now and my husband is 74. I have to take care of my health to take care of him and because I'm planning on living a healthy long life in retirement. Even though I don't have a "Job" I still have to prioritize my time and stress levels. I'm definitely into becoming more of a minimalist and spending less. Top 3 priorities in my life now... Spiritual, Health, Family Time. Great video

In summary, it takes 2, and even then, there will be struggles. It's the reality of our species, and we're not unique in the world.

America open up it borders to far too many immigrants. America is an influential country and want to be seen as a super power. Those money that go to Ukraine, Israel, this place and that as far back as the 1940's to rebuilt countries after war is also part of the problems. They give to countries and then tax residents/citizens more income taxes. I have read about those Scandanavian countries that stay neutral and do not get caught up in bring people to their countries. I am not saying that America should not give or assist any at all but it goes way overboard all the time. America is mad up of immigrants but the line has to be drawn with a lot of things that the leaders are doing historically. You are correct, lots of European countries get at least 30 days and they are replenished and not stressed out like us over here in the good old USA.
It’s all temporary. You’re a soul having an experience with an expiring date and still caught up about a nationality or a country. Spiritual awakening is needed for such a narrow view of your journey.
Wait, hold up sista. You’re hoarding money? Nah, that ain’t living to me. You all could die tomorrow so won’t take that bread to your grave. Help out the needy. Quality over quantity purchases but please, no hoarding money because that is just not enjoying life.
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts! I absolutely understand the importance of finding balance between saving and truly living life to the fullest. My personal journey with minimalism and simplifying life is not about hoarding but about being intentional with resources, so I can live a more meaningful life while also helping others. I believe in the value of generosity and giving back, which is a big part of why I'm building this community. Everyone's path is different, but I appreciate your perspective.

I love you love you love you love you love you and happy for you and yours. May we all continue to be strengthened, guided, and preserved, living our best quality of life.
Again again again again again again again again again again again, gems, nougats, thank ya 🙌🏽💃🏽🤣. My husband and I have made so many changes and doing exactly what you have shared with this past summer both of us having a health scare, and he decided not to go back to lecture at our local University but he's at home now doing what the doctor has directed him to do and spending a lot of time slowing down in front of the computer as he has decided to learn and invest in stocks and so forth and whatever all that entails. I continue to be caretaker as well as we are raising our two youngest grandchildren, as you may already know and I'm telling you living by our Norms, is what feels right to us and for us, and I am thankful to God we are able to actually do so; unapologetic 🌞! I love you love you love you love you love you and happy for you and yours. May we all continue to be strengthened, guided, and preserved, living our best quality of life. Oh, needed to come back and say I intended to also express that I'm thankful to God that you're able to still come on here and share with us 🤲🏽🙏🏽💪🏽🤗😘🫶🏽🤲🏽.
How lucky your husband and grandchildren to have you and to be able to travel the road less traveled! God bless! Thank you for sharing and appreciate you! 🌼💛
