Feminism started in the Garden of Eden

“Dracula” was first published in 1897. Also, Percy Bysshe Shelley was expelled from Oxford for having written an essay called “On the Necessity of Atheism.” (Sorry! Can’t help myself. Retired English teacher.)

But I like my Romantic era poets... Keats > Shelley anyways.

God is good! This could not come at better time. Just finished a mandatory course on feminism. Being introduced to Carrie Gress work will help me process and undo some of the harm done. I will be diving into her work over the break. Thanks!

"Mandatory course"- is this in high school or college or at work? Just curious (if it's in grade/high school I'll be on the lookout :) )

I was told by a feminist/misandrist 'Christian' lady that I was a bad mother because I didn't teach my sons about feminism so they would become misogynists.
This really balked me and I told them what I knew about feminism. What I didn't know is included in this conversation... They now know this information too, and I'm so grateful to you both for exposing the dark roots of this evil ideology. Thank you!

That inversion of Paradise Lost also reminds me of CS Lewis' Perelandra when the Un-Man aka the devil tempts the Green Lady to be more like the women of Earth. He was encouraging her to take things into her own hands because she "knows better" than men and Maleldil aka God Himself.

Can you get a more confusing family? Half way through I had no idea who all these people were or who they were married to. Nuts.

Claire Claremont, the stepsister the prof mentioned, converted to Catholicism very late in her life. After years of reflection, she came to realize our home is beyond the stars and not beneath them.

This is excellent but not at all surprising given the fruits of feminism. Can anyone recommend some good source material on this subject? Just like the original enemy in the garden sows seeds of doubt regarding the ultimate source, God himself those choosing ‘other than God’ are taught to question sources rather than provide cogent arguments.

This does not make it clear at all how PS is the "originator of feminism" (have never encountered this claim before). Is it just because of his association with MW? I don't understand what that claim is based upon. What's more, PS was a champion for Catholic rights and emancipation in England before the Reform act. This is some deeply irresponsible History Channel level nonsense these two are spewing.

Is the idea that non-monagamy=feminism? If that's the case, feminism is prehistoric. It's Mormon. Is Muslim. It's Jewish. Jacob from the Bible was the originator of feminism! Joseph Smith was the first American feminist!

I am skeptical about the claim that in writing that book he was the "father of feminism". I am however sympathetic to the idea that the "devil is the hero" in the way that that the disciple who betrayed Jesus wasn't so bad after all.
    1) It is true that PS was drawn MW's work, a self-declared fan, that he insisted on meeting surviving family and progeny.
    2) I came to the conclusion independent of PS (not knowing who he was or what he did) that blaming Eve in the bible for everything is an Original Lie that patriarchy inflicted upon women for their Original Sin. The devil actually liberated Eve's ignorance when she ate the apple from the tree of knowledge. MW said herself in her work, when women are educated, they are no longer slaves to blind obedience. So maybe this is why PS idolized the devil. In some circles there are people who actually believe YWH ("God") is the real devil (cruel, jealous, semitic El) and his benevolent brother is painted evil, called the devil (semitic deity Enki). Do l believe this? Anything is possible. Part of me does, because this is textbook narcissism + DARVO, where everything is backwards: the victim is painted as the perpetrator. This will be included in the book I'm writing.
    3) I am not sure if MW was into free love but she certainly was into her independence. Even though she was married, she kept a separate household. She wrote that marriage is basically a contract for slavery because women surrendered all their rights to their husbands. Indeed it was a terrible, unequal economic arrangement. (Shudder)

She makes a big claim in this clip. I guess if you're going to make them, you might as well go big.
