This is like the most comforting gallbladder removal video I have watched. I was diagnosed late last year and I have been scared to get it removed. My surgeon says I have to get it out cause I am diabetic. Thanks for the video. Wish you a speedy recovery from Nigeria
Wishing you a great recovery! Maybe I can put your mind at ease a little bit. I had my gallbladder removed also, actually it was an emergency surgery and although they wanted to do it laparoscopically, it wasn't possible so they had to fully cut me open. I have a huge scar that goes from my side to up under my chest, so they literally flipped open my insides. I think I slept in a chair for like a week or so, walking and moving - unfortunately I had bronchitis at the same time, so a lot of coughing - was horrible. I had the same experience you have, In the beginning I could only eat soft foods, like soup, applesauce etc. and food was going right through me. But I can assure you that after a couple of years it has gotten so much better. I can eat everything and only when I eat foods with a higher fat content I have to make sure I am close to a bathroom, but that is something you can absolutely control yourself. I really haven't had much issue with this. Eating pizza now is not a problem, BUT I have lived in the US and I know from experience that a pizza in the US has a lot more fat than the Italian style kind of pizza we have here in Germany. Many American foods tend to be higher in fat. But, as I said, you are in control of what you eat so you can make wise choices. And just to put your mind at ease it does get better, it is not a life-long struggle. One thing though, to this day I cannot sleep on my stomach and I have lost feeling there from being cut open. My partner has had a gallbladder removal - laparoscopically - like you, but unlike you he was pretty much up and about like 3 days after the surgery, with almost no problems. He even sleeps on his stomach. I think it is a different experience for everybody. But the eating does get better. It is a slow process and you might have to change your eating habits a little bit. Personally I have more problems with vegetables, leafy greens and lettuce than with fatty foods, but that might also be a very individual experience. You just try out all kinds of food and make a note of what causes problems to you and try to avoid these things. In a year or so try them again and see if it has changed. But I promise there will be changes! Good luck to you! Hopefully all your issues will be resolved and you won't have to go through any more of these life-threatening incidents like in Hawaii. Gallbladder removal - compared to those experiences - is like "nothing". Get well soon and I hope you feel better!
You are a very strong person to have gone through everything you've gone through and you're still here today. I understand determination and the fight to live for your kids. I am very happy for you that you get to be there an experience Fatherhood and experience this part of life. That is a true blessing. I havent gone through nearly as much as you but i fight everyday to stay alive because i have babies. I have a 5 year old and a 3 year old. I am on day 3 of gallbladder removal recovery. I have some questions. When will you start to drive again? Would you do an 8 hour road trip 2 weeks after this surgery? Just wondering. My ribs hurt sooo much and i could not take deep breaths at all after surgery. There are supplaments you can take that can act as the gallbladder and do the gallbladders job. I googled what happens next after gallbladder removal and there are holistic supplements to help the body absorb nutrients from food as it goes through the digestive system. Did your surgeon tell you the state of your gallbladder and what was wrong with it?
I had my gallbladder removed five weeks ago. It ruptured during surgery and took 5 hours to do. I developed a post op infection that was treated with cephalosporin. I had bad constipation from the pain meds and had to go on a bowel regimen. Im currently JUST starting to notice improvement in symptoms. Its a difficult and exhausting recovery. I still need to plan any activities around knowing the availability of restrooms and deal with constant nausea and belly discomfort. My weight is down 15 lbs. I know this sounds counterintuitive, but the heavy pain killers did more harm than good for me. Im glad Tylenol is starting to give me relief now and i am seeing a better quality of life ahead. My food options are very restricted yet but i have a nutritionist and vitamin supplements to see me through. Even after all of that, i feel it was worth having it out because im not experiencing the feeling of being stabbed by an ice pick in my upper abdomen anymore. But it is not an easy surgery. If you are facing this, plan EVERYTHING ahead for at least two months. Good luck and get well soon to everyone going through this. Oh and have short term disability insurance for at least a year before you have the surgery so you dont go too far into debt to have any quality of life.
@@TreyDazehey brother so what was the reason you had your gallbladder removed ? I am supposed surgery on mine months ago because I have a hyperkinetic gallbladder. There is a study journal on people who get this surgery done and most patients got better from the hyperactive gallbladder . I am just concerned that In my case it might not get better or worse but I don’t know that yet because everyone’s body is different.
I’m on day 5 from gallbladder surgery and everything you’re saying is true. You don’t know how much you use your stomach when it comes to laying down, also as far as food I don’t have a lot of appetite. Rest is very important for you to recover but I did have issues with going number 2 😫
day 5 of my surgery here, had to drive myself today to the follow up, definetly turning to see at stop signs or yield sign intersections is hard. No lifting heavy for 4 to 6 weeks, stopped taking the pain medecine "hydrocodone" the very next day only to night time, they are super strong and make you dizzy so i decided to keep them only to night time. Stopped taking the stool softener the second day after i was able to go to restroom with no issues. going back to work in 4 days, luckly im more office time than anything so i should be able to get back on my normal routine faster. Miss cutting my lawn lol
Thanks so much for sharing. How was your experience with the anesthesia? That's what im afraid of. The surfery itself and the recovery are the least of my worries 😔
Thank you for sharing your experience! I am 2 weeks away from finally having my gallbladder removed. All of your details have helped me understand what to expect on surgery day. Your food tips are good to know. How has your digestion and bathroom trips been since this video?
It is going to be the best experience for you! I do not regret having mine removed! Digestion has unfortunately been all over the place. At the beginning, I lived in the bathroom. Now, some days I need to drink some milk of magnesia to get the flow going. And then some days I’m like a volcano lol. Best recommendation is to stick to nutrient rich diet and limit the fried foods and junk food.
Hey Kathleen! I feel amazing! Life has completely shifted for me in a positive direction health wise! You ready for your procedure? Stay in touch please?!
@@TreyDazeTrey, I just had my gallbladder removed two weeks ago and I’m having trouble recovering. How long did it take you to completely heal? I’m so happy that you’re doing good now.❤

Trey, I hope you're doing well right now. Mine is soon to be removed and I am scared as hell that my life will no longer be the same anymore like eating normally and will need the bathroom all the time. May I know how's your quality of life right now that your gallbladder is removed?
Much depends on the method applied. Normally nowadays it is done without open surgery, by some instrument like a laparoscope, inserted by a tiny cut in the naval. The gall will later drip permanently into your digesting system. As long as you don’t drink a gallon of oil you will have no problems any more.
Not even two weeks for me and sounds close to the same story except for blowouts..I’ve had to take magnesium at night just to be regular in the morning.
