I am a first generation immigrant. I will never forget my roots, but I am a die-hard Canadian. Canada is my home, my nation. Canada took me in and I am very grateful for the safety and the economic opportunities my family has gained since arriving here more than a decade ago. I am a Canadian to the core, and if need be, I will enlist and fight to keep her free. Canada is the true north, strong and free. She will not bow. She will not break. Canada is my home, and I will die to defend her freedom. 🇨🇦

@@kevinprzy4539 How does Canada pilfer from the US? You're just repeating Trump's lies like a following little sheep with no clue about reality. Do some actual research. The US doesn't subsidize Canada at all. They don't just give Canada money. We trade! Canada buys less from the US because we only have 40 million people compared to 350 million in the US. It evens out though if you added services that Canada buys from the States like Netflix, Disney channel...etc.

I am a second generation Canadian, my grand parents are from Ohio and Iowa. I served in the Canadian military during the cold war, served shoulder to shoulder with US forces many times, after 9/11 I re-enlisted, and went through basic training again at 40. Unfortunately I had an accident in training and did not deploy to Afghanistan, but instead acted as a garrison officer for my unit helping troops get the courses and training they needed to deploy. I never thought I'd be facing a situation were our closest Allie would be threatening our very existence. I'm sickened, frustrated and hurt that this is even being suggested. And although I'm old now I pray I never have to defend my country against those whom I consider my brothers, thank you for your video.

I cant remember a time when Canada has asked America to support us with troops. I do remember their govt crying like babies when we refused to go to Iraq. They cried so hard they gave us Kandahar in Afghanistan, because the Americans didnt feel they could hold it. Canada held it for 5 years +. Our military may not be huge, but we have the best trained soldiers on the planet!!!

      The Solution.
One impressive way to boost the economy of the big landmass and the wealth of its people, America and Canada,
would be to wipe away the border between these two great countries which,
      STUNTS PROGRESS
      DIVIDES PEOPLE,
      RESTRICTS FREEDOM,
and CREATES TENSION at times. - To prove these points all that one has to do is to read some of the posters' comments on the various videos.
JUST THINK of Canadians as well as people from other nations who have gone to America to seek their fame and fortune and have been successful.
A prime example would be S. African born Musk who spent three years in Canada, went to America to seek his fame and fortune and is likely to become the world's first trillionaire.
Elon Musk or some other wealthy person with influence should be able to get this unification movement started.
Canada has a shrinking GDP per capita which is a key indicator of prosperity, a weakening Canadian dollar, a weak military, inflation issues, national debt has doubled, an increasing cost of living and housing crisis.
Canada is so dependent on the USA for its trade that it might as well join the USA.
Some Canadians still think that they need a ( USELESS king ) ' hovering ' over them in these modern times who lives on a faraway island and does nothing for them but what they really do need are lower taxes, a strong economy as well as a strong (American) military to protect the arctic.
Ownership of the Arctic means nothing if you can't defend it and Canada does not have the military to defend it, so the Arctic is fully dependent on the US for its protection.
In April 2021 Putin filed a submission to extend a claim to the Arctic, all the way into the Canadian and Greenland (Denmark) continental shelf and economic zone, as part of Russia's continental shelf.
This is a situation where they're claiming the entire Arctic Canadian and Danish continental shelf as part of the Russian continental shelf.
In 2018 Beijing agreed it would cooperate with Russia on a new Arctic silk route to connect Europe with Asia, signing 20 bilateral documents and agreeing to invest in the region.
As part of this, Beijing will build several Chinese docks across Russia's north in ports.
Russia demands permission for ships to use the Northern Passage including the use of Russian pilot ships.
Putin wants control of the Arctic trade routes and the natural resources in the Arctic which would create arctic dominance and it would threaten the USA.
America is the only country so far that has put 12 men on the moon, returned them safely to earth again and that was more than 50 years ago, so don't underestimate America.
It is a very generous nation. One notable example would be the Marshall Plan which financed the rebuilding of western European nations after the devastation of WWII.
America is the most powerful country in the world, not just military, but economically and also has the world's biggest economy.
It is also the country which has won the highest number of olympic medals, the country from which the highest number of nobel prize winners have come and also the country whose American companies have made the largest impact on the world.
In 2024, nine out of ten of the world's wealthiest people were Americans and there were 813 billionaires in America which is twice as many as the next country, China.
If America and Canada united, it would be the world's largest country and would be over one million square miles larger than Russia.
What a huge 'playground' we all would have with no border to restrict us-!
      This would be FREEDOM.
United we Stand, Divided we Fall.

Another proud and pissed off Canadian here. I want to thank you John for the work you put into this video. That being said, while it’s a definite “feel good” piece, it’s nothing more than a walk down memory lane. What matters more now, is what is going on now...
I’m 68 and as far as I can remember, I used to consider the USA and its citizens as friends. My wife and I spent 12 consecutive winters in the southern USA. In April 2016 after your orange convict became your president, we drove our motorhome back to Canada and never set foot in the US again. Nor will we ever. We’ve been spending our winters in beautiful Puerto Vallarta since then and are delighted. Now that you’ve re-elected that convict, and exposed my beloved country to his lunatic and destructive plans, I no longer see the US as friends but more like an unreliable and unpredictable drugged up neighbour.
    And we’re preparing….
I make this promise to all of my fellow Canadians: I will be front row and center on the border to defend my beautiful Canada against anyone and everyone anytime. I will be working my butt off to help diversify our export markets so to tremendously minimize our reliance on the US and sell our energy, minerals, lumber and goods to countries that want them. I’ll push our politicians hard to let them know we expect them to not only stand up for our country, but to push back really damned hard against the orange convict and his clueless band of Fox News brainwashed supporters. So hard, that they’ll learn the hard way that you do NOT fuck with Canadians.

Canadians need to be ashamed of their sovereignty to the so-called British crown which is anachronistic.
Canada's sovereignty is closely tied to the so-called British crown, which is the embodiment of the country's monarch and form of government.
Although the British monarch was the head of state, in practice, his or her functions were exercised in the colony by the colonial Governor, who acted on instructions from the British government in London.
During its three centuries of empire, Britain greedily invaded many countries and killed more people than were killed during WWII.
The history of the so-called English royals is intertwined with slavery.
The slave-trading initiatives endorsed by the English monarchy began with Elizabeth I’s enthusiastic support of John Hawkins’ slaving expeditions in the 1560s.
In three separate voyages backed by government officials, London merchants, and Elizabeth I, Hawkins raided African settlements on the West African coast and seized hundreds of enslaved captives from Portuguese ships.
In defiance of Portugal’s slave trade in Africans, Hawkins sold his cargo of African captives in the Spanish Caribbean. After his profitable second voyage,
Elizabeth I honored Hawkins with a coat of arms and crest featuring a nude African bound with rope.
Throughout Britain's African slave trading days, Britain SHIPPED OVER THREE AND ONE HALF MILLION SLAVES TO THE Americas.
Over half a million slaves' lives were lost during the Atlantic crossing.
Between 1689 and 1807,1,053 British vessels were lost whilst undertaking slave-trading activities.
The transatlantic slave trade by the British was the one of the largest forced relocation of human beings in history.
Britain DID NOT END SLAVERY UNTIL THE 1920s.
To fuel the growing first-world sugar industry of the late 1800s, Britain enslaved 1.3 million Indians then shipped them to labor on sugar plantations in Mauritius, South Africa, the Caribbean, Guyana, and Fiji.
This was known as Indentured Servitude which was another name for SLAVERY AND IT DID NOT END UNTIL THE 1920s.
Like the African slaves, these Indian slaves were also brutally treated by the British.

And this PM is doing this to his own people. Pres. Trump is just trolling JT because he is a weak disgusting leader, he has no intentions of taking Canada and if you followed him, and actually listened to what he says and get to know his humor instead of reading headlines about him you would know that he is just trolling. My Scottish ancestors sailed to Nova Scotia and gained their freedom from England the same year Americans signed The Declaration of Independence. My family didn't need to join America, they were already free. They joined the English and the French in 1867 to keep that freedom. Since then, we have survived war and peace together. I tried to think of a better neighbour, and uh.....maybe New Zealand? Anyway, it was after the battle of Culloden in 1746 that England came down hard on Scotland, outlawing bagpipes and songs and kilts and clans, marauding, pillaging and attacking innocents. @ Well can I gently advise you that battle was fought between the Jacobites, led by Charles Edward Stuart, and the British government, led by the Duke of Cumberland. The 'British Government' which included the Scots.
Charles landed in Scotland in July 1745, seeking to restore his father James Francis Edward Stuart to the British throne. He quickly won control of large parts of Scotland, and an invasion of England reached as far south as Derby before being forced to turn back. They had invaded England and were trying to overthrow the legitimate crown of Great Britain. So not quite the heroes you may think.

A lot of comments that Canadians say about Americans and US in various social media platforms as well as comments in the Globe and Mail seem to say otherwise. They border on anti-Americanism and disdain and even condescending attitudes which are offensive to say the least. There are even videos of Canadians burning US flags and posting it online. So it then comes down to the point where Americans ask why Canadians hate them and the US.
Is there any explanations for those insulting attitudes and comments many Canadians seem to harbor against Americans and the US?

Donald Trump is the one who's disrespecting Canada and Canadians, not the American people. None of these discussions here and the looming trade war wouldn't even exist if Trump hadn't won this election. Funny how Harris and the Democrats aren't screaming that the election was rigged in favor of Trump nor does she and Democrats believe that the election was stolen from them and then concoct one lie after another the way Trump acted in 2020 and how he was partially for the responsible for Jan 6th.
I know of not one single solitary American who has contempt and disrespect for your country, except of course Trump himself. Canadians are rightfully angry over tariffs and trade wars and they should be. But it would be nice if Canadians focus that anger on Trump and his MAGA cult followers and not on Americans as a whole. Though Canadians insulting and trashing the US and Americans is also disrespectful and antagonistic and America bashing seems to be a national sport. Whether we like it or not we are stuck with each other, would Canadians prefer to have Mexico as their southern neighbors instead and have the most dangerous border in the world? I've been to the US-Mexican border myself and I can assure you that the Canada-US border is completely the opposite and a walk in the park compared to the massive problems and chaos of that border which would shock most Canadians beyond belief and who don't have to worry about their southern border, whether or not if they love to hate the US and Americans

Remember who took them in, housed them, and fed them. It was Canadians. Even today, fire fighters from Canada AND Mexico, your other good neigbour, are fighting the fires in California, one of several American states which used to be part of Mexico. I do not wish to have conflicts with the United States, but if push comes to shove, I can promise you that America will find Canada a strong defender of its freedom. It's really important we remain strong allies in every aspect. I really am cheering for the Canadian AND American people to get through this next segment of history, unscathed. Cheers! 🇺🇸🇨🇦

Excellent compilation, John. Very well put together - you made the point excellently.
If you haven't already, watch Obama's full address to Parliament. It's just one of those really great speeches (as was his address to the UK Parliament). I don't understand how the US went from that, to this, in such a short time.
Keep up the good work - your efforts are appreciated.

Hi John, great choice of videos at this bizarre time in Canada-US relations. I needed this.
Having served 43 years as a senior officer in the Canadian Army and concurrently nine years a justice on the criminal bench of the the Ontario Court, I am deeply dismayed at Trump's revival of Manifest Destiny (or perhaps Magafest Destiny) and the Monroe Doctrine. The War of 1812 was one of my teaching subjects at the postgraduate level for senior officers, which included field study trips to the actual battlefields along the Niagara Frontier. One of my cousins (1st 5x removed) was an ADC to General Sir Gordon Drummond, during that war. In 2013, I was invited to lecture for a week at the University of MIssouri on the topic of the War of 1812 and present-day Canada-US defence relations. It was a tremendously fun time, lecturing to both undergrads and postgrads on these topics. At that time, I had a strong belief in our cross-border partnerships on defence, law enforcement, and trade. I told these Mizzou students, including ROTC cadets, that I never lost a wink of sleep worrying about national security in this regard. Although Canada and the US have their disagreements, I told them that we always work it out together, usually coming up with "a better mousetrap." Now, I am not so sure.
Having deliberately put Trump back into power, knowing all of his deep character flaws and obvious personality disorders, my American cousins have put my homeland Canada into serious jeopardy from a bona fide lunatic. I say cousins, being a Mayflower descendant, as well as from being United Empire Loyalist stock during the American Revolutionary War. My ancestors had been in the Thirteen Colonies since the late 1500's and remained loyal to the Crown (Loyalists/Tories) against the Rebels (Patriots), during the Revolution. Accordingly, they became some of the founding families of Upper Canada, which is now the Province of Ontario. Ontario's motto is "Ut incepit fidelis sic permanet" - translates to “loyal she began, loyal she remains,” relating to the Loyalists and to the Crown. So yes, my American cousins is quite an apropos term.
Now, in one week's time, Trump will be once again be the holder of the keys as Commander-in-Chief of the most powerful military and economy in the world. Supporting his desires is the MAGA majority of morons that put this madman back into the Oval Office. He hasn't even been sworn-in as President and he has already got the free world tied up in knots, wasting precious time and human capital on countering his insane ideas.
I ask, what is the US going to look like after three years of Trump's second term? Will the use of armed troops to round up and concentrate illegal immigrants be the new norm? It only took him 41 days to normalize a "joke" about taking Canada into a serious threat. As a lesson from history, look back at what got normalized in Germany between 1935-38, let alone from 1939-45.
How are non-MAGA Americans going to rein-in Trump? He is playing right into Putin's hands by attempting to disrupt/destabilize NATO by having one NATO country threaten attack on other NATO countries. Canadians and non-MAGA Americans cannot rely on using rational arguments with this irrational being.
Very best wishes to you John F.
    The other John F.

This is why so many older Canadians were shocked by Trump's words. Many of us have visited the Peace Arch and the statement carved into it stating "May these gates never be closed". Canadians do not want to be Americans, we want to live peacefully alongside Americans. A mutually beneficial peace and cooperation with shared interests, just as has been for so many generations. Good lord, it is sad to see how Biden has declined so quickly. This is a great compilation by the way. Nice. job.

I think, John, my virtual friend, that you would both enjoy and profit from making a "viewing video" of the 1940 film "49th Parallel" --- directed by Michael Powell, and starring Raymond Massey, Leslie Howard, Lawrence Olivier and many others. It divides very neatly into segments. It was made both to buck up the spirits of Canadians, who were already in the war against Hitler, and to convince Americans that they should join the effort. There are brilliant scenes in it, and the final few minutes with Massey (the only actual Canadian star in the film) are utterly magnificent. I'm sure you must have seen it some time in the distant past, but it is particularly relevant now and worth a re-watching. Since it can be found on TH-cam in a high quality print, I don't think there would be any difficulty doing this.
