Lol that was a good ass video too! I've never seen the power valve on a kx so clean. When I was younger n had no money I rebuilt the top end on a kx500 I had n I spent days trying to beat off all the carbon on the power valve to save a couple bucks. I should have just replaced it! lol!
Thanks man, the original power valve gears were all worn out and they actually don't make them anymore but there's a guy in Europe who reverse engineered them and manufactures them thankfully so you can still get replicas. The rest of the power valve parts (like the flap assembly) were encrusted in thick carbon and it took a lot of boiling them over the stove and scraping them with screw drivers to get them clean. Cleaning PV parts is probably the least fun part of any rebuild.
Ocd same as me when building an engine! It has to be spotless , I hate seeing people doing top ends in the frame or working on dirty bikes !really gets on my nerves.
mad marc & guys...just a question...would the engine run from idle and to max torque...I don't need the gear shifting (2/3/4 & 5) and clutch system...can the gears and clutch be omitted while having the engine run to max torque ?
I'm not understanding what your trying to do. You want to have a 1-speed transmission? You'll need to do a bit of modification to do that, simply removing gears 2-5 won't work.
The clutch basket is a Wiseco/Pro X (they are the same thing) which I had problems fitting the center gear on so i don't recommend them. And the piston is Pro X.
I don't know man, it could cost several thousand dollars. Do it as a hobby. Otherwise it's better to buy a new bike cause it could cost more than the old bike is worth
I have pretty much just only gotten into mx. I want to be self sufficient and fix my own stuff but it seems so intimidating. I'm stuck cause I feel I'll break more things as I try to fix it, and I haven't the money to be replacing things constantly. Did you go through something similar? How'd you get past it?
I don't know, I think wrenching is just one of those things you have to enjoy doing. If you don't, you'll get impatient and make mistakes and break stuff like you're saying. I would say start with small, easy things, like rebuilding a carb or something. Go slow and be patient.

Hey Thanks Luis! I removed them with this kit: www.ebay.com/itm/154166417099 The bearing pullers are narrow and long so they can get in there with no problem.
@@madmarc hey man do you know where I can find a PROX crankshaft for my kx 250, 98 ? I contact Rocky Mountain but they dint have any and Motorsport either.and I heard that Hot Rod one they don’t last very long
@@luismelendez935 No but if you're still using your original oem crank than I would have it rebuilt using a pro x rod and bearing kit. It'll be like new. I had mine rebuilt by Mr. Crankshaft. He used a Vesrah rod and bearing kit (made in Japan). It came out real nice and with virtually no runout. If you don't have an oem crank there's a guy on Thumpertalk who rebuilds and sells them.
@@madmarc okay! I will check them both and where is located or website for the one thumpertalk! I can wait to fix it man two stroke or the best my opinion! I’m painting the frame ass well! Do you have instagram
Love how you zoom in to the parts to give a better viewing. Thanks man. Great work
What a beautiful build
Mega super! Много лет занимался мотоспортом, сам всю механику делал
That was Bonkers!
Great job mate.
I'd love to be able to do this as a hobby but there's soo much involved. It's bloody scary!
Thank you Marco!
Amazing build.

Hi kanaloa and dallas..r.i.p
Got a link to the wrenches you used to torque the cylinder base nuts? Looking for a set without much luck
www.motionpro.com/product/08-0134
wow outstanding....
Nice build. What’s that Yamalube spray?
Thanks, it's stor-right engine fogging oil. Works well as an assembly lube

@@madmarc thinking of flying an ultralight aircraft buddy...need experts advice 😎
to put in a kx 250 a piston c what size should I replace it has a B but there is too much clearance
You need to measure the bore of the cylinder. Usually B will work unless you have your cylinder bored out to a larger size.
New jug? Or re-plated? Looks 👍🏻
They blasted the paint and carbon off and replated it. I couldn't believe how nice it looked
@@madmarc it’s looks perfect! How much did it cost?
💪 💪 💪
What was the spray used at 3:02 on the piston? What does it do 👍
Just an assembly lube. You can use tranny fluid or 2 stroke oil
@@madmarc cool thanks. Do you know a place or website for bike parts? UK mainly if possible I know of 24mx but maybe any others?
@@ha11iday95 I'm not really sure, it depends what you're looking for. I just do internet searches for parts and see what comes up
@@madmarc thanks Marc
How would I get a hold of you I have some questions
Just post them here
Why do you hide brand clutch basket and piston??
The clutch basket is a Wiseco/Pro X (they are the same thing) which I had problems fitting the center gear on so i don't recommend them. And the piston is Pro X.
How can I contact you so I can show you the condition it's in
How much would it be to restore my 1996 kx250
