Olivia Wilde is a multi-talented actor, director, writer and producer, but she’s ready to expand her horizons and discover new hidden talents. In this one-on-one session with designer and letterer Jessica Hische, Olivia learns the basics of layout, design and lettering to create a poster that inspires awareness and action, all based on one of Olivia’s favorite quotes from Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC).
They work together, discussing the mutual passions of motherhood, feminism, and activism, as they create a design that will become a gift for Olivia’s daughter.
And, you can follow along! All you need is some paper, something to draw with, and a passion for discovering your own hidden talents. In this lettering tutorial with Jessica and Olivia, you’ll learn to:
- Select the perfect quote
- Plan typographic hierarchy
- Work with layout & spacing
- Develop letterforms by hand

Hmmmmmm so Olivia is a director and producer? So tell me again how good her movies did at the box office?
She shouldn't be bragging about that. Then she wants her daughter to like AOC more than Elsa? As in Elsa who teaches kids about loving her family and perseverance and finding your true self?
It's not ab how well her movies did at the box office. It's ab how they resonated with viewers and inspired others. Art shouldn't be ab monetary value, it should be ab the meaning behind it and the path you want it to take. Maybe you should spend some less time criticizing others and find something that makes you feel this way, the same way producing/directing makes Olivia feel. As far as the AOC thing, maybe because you're a man you don't understand the power she has. But for us WOMEN, she gives us hope that a revolution is occurring within the US government and inspires us to achieve our dreams. She's not saying that Elsa is a bad role model, she's saying that in the future, she wishes for her daughter to look up to AOC in the same light she looks up to Elsa. Elsa's a great role model for young kids learning simple moral values. However, AOC is a role model that teaches young girls to become powerful women. Perhaps you should spend some more time analyzing and thinking rather than just impulsively responding, similar to many male governmental figures.
