I was laughing along with the audience when he said "the electrical socket also probably a bad place for the butter knife" and then when he continued "so is your wrist" I literally could feel my breathe stop. Chills throughout the whole poem this is beautiful.
His poetry just builds. Starts off kind of smouldering and you just get carried along with it and by the end it's like when a band stops playing and you just have ringing in your ears. Just so intense.
"also your wrist. also your thigh." my breathing stopped. this man is loved by many, he doesnt deserve that pain. no one in this terrible, fucked-up world deserves any shit.
I've listened to this so many times that I can quote the whole thing while listening to it. One of my absolute favorite poems. I can't describe how it makes me feel.
"You can't carry your body around like it's covered in sequins or worth shit without making everyone uncomfortable. Don't blame the world for how it wants to get its hands around your throat, you're the one who showed up with a throat to begin with."
"When the first boy I loved died something broke, and nothing trained me how to fill that absence" "He died - and my heart started breathing water" wow. since right now I am pretty scared the first person I've ever loved, the first person who made me think that maybe romantic love and relationships aren't that bad and possibly worth a try, could die... this is just. wow.

Perfect. I love when a poem starts as something and becomes an entire different thing.
There's something so comfortable about his voice like I can close my eyes and just listen to it and just be.
"So is your wrist. So is your upper thigh"- chilling
"also your wrist. also your thigh."
my breathing stopped. this man is loved by many, he doesnt deserve that pain. no one in this terrible, fucked-up world deserves any shit.
"I wept, and everything after was different. I wonder who I was then, that did not know grief, how best to make it plain...his body, my body." Chills.
