When you watch Prost, compared to everyone else, it almost seems he's driving a modern F1 car. The precision and smoothness are unbelievable.
Alain also had to adjust his style in Ferrari due to the paddle-shift, couldn't jump all gears in the downshift like he used to. One of his patented techniques few could replicate.

you know whats unbeleivable? the ferarri 641 was the first f1 car to use traction control system and and i cant beleive it had a 7 speed transmission, this complex car came before the renault williams fw14 did, and yet the f1 cars later on used stick shift

The engine rules would be better if there where more room for different interpretation of the rules would add some interest in f1 at the moment it's pointless even watching it unknow who is going to win. Back then there was 5 or 6 drivers that could win from one week to the next. And another 2 or 3 that might just spring a surprise. Now I can't remember the last race that wasn't pretty predictable within 5 laps.

Prost almost won the WDC with that Ferrari which was constantly 0.5-1 seconds slower on a lap than Senna's McLaren. Senna had to knock him out at Japan start to prevent that. But Prost wasn't pretty boy Hollywood material and didn't die young like Senna and James Dean. That's why the new generation has only heard of Senna.

@@Barlos3131 Senna was faster in Qual....Prost was faster in race trim. For example, in 1989 in the MP4:
Senna Poles - 13
Senna Fast Laps - 3
Prost Poles - 2
Prost Fast Laps - 7
Prost was also more consistent by far, which means he was not pushing as close to his limit. Senna was 10/10ths all the time. Prost left margin. Prost actually scored more points than Senna in 1989, but the scoring system at that time only took the best 11 finishes. If the system had used the 1991 to present system, then Prost would have won 6 or 7 World Titles instead of 4.....

Totally wrong. I was fortunatel enough to watch all those races live. Senna would start usually on pole and then biuld a nice gap. After that he just controlled the race... As the fuel loads decreased Prost often got the race lap record, but Senna who was far ahead didnt need to push anymore..... You can go and watch the races, like Imola 1988. Senna totally dominated that race amd Prost had no answer whatsoever. However Prost got the track record on lap 53......

@@80sf1fan2 In 1989 it was Senna's fault too. Prost was in front and defending his line, he had all the rights, while Senna tried a kamikaze overtake coming from far behind.
Senna was not going to corner no matter what, he would've pushed Alain out. Prost was just tired of his intimidating manouvers and closed the gate.
