@@ct6852 if you are making just a cake about 1 1/2-2 hours. If you make cupcakes out of it double the time. You have to wait for the cake to completely cool before you ice it. Same with cupcakes
I love pumpkin and mincemeat pie during the holidays, and fruit pies like peach and strawberry-rhubarb during the summer, but go ahead and line them ALL up! When push comes to shove, I'm not picky at all!
Banana pudding is my favorite dessert. Apple pie second, pineapple upside down cake third. Also, jam, jelly, and preserves are all different things in the US. Jelly: made with fruit juice, no fruit pieces Jam: contains seeds and pulp Preserves: includes larger pieces of fruit
It's a three-way tie between pumpkin, pecan, and a chocolate peanut butter pie my husband made for Thanksgiving. My all-time favorite dessert though is cheesecake (don't really have one favorite flavor.)
New York cheesecake. Mmmmm ❤❤. On my death bed my last meal would be Lobster tail, King crab legs, Large sea scallops, King cut prime rib medium rare, NY Cheesecake with cherries. 😊
I grew up eating peanutbutter no bake cookies. Also called boiled cookies. They don't look great, but they taste phenomenal. I'd gladly share the recipe if you were interested.
We made those in 7th grade Home Economics class. I haven't eaten them in years. Come to think of it, I have all the ingredients for them in my pantry 😂
5:05 If at any point you two or James' mum decide to do a cheesecake from scratch, look for recipes that include a steam bath or water bath. Since cheesecase is a form of custard pie, its proteins need steamed up to temperature gently, or they will seize and the cheesecake will break. Same applies to pumpkin and sweet potato pies.
I like Pecan Pie, Lemon Ice box pie, Banana Pudding, Peach Cobbler, and I don't know the recipe but my mom when she was alive used to make a Italian Cream cake with cream cheese icing and it had pecans and coconut in it. It was so good.
Peach cobbler is up there with apple pie. Always a-la-mode of course 😋 Banana Cream pie is also a favorite (from Marie Callender’s, yum!) yes to Key Lime pie! Cheesecake is a must! (It’s temperamental if not baked using a water bath)
Inside America we have jelly, jam, and preserves. Jelly is made with just the fruit juice, jam is made with blended/pureed fruit and preserves are made with crushed fruit leaving prices in the final product.
I love carrot bars with cream cheese topping, German Chocolate cake with 3 middle layers of filling, Rhubarb/Cherry crunch, Chocolate Brownies with cherry pie filling added to the batter, of course Chocolate Chip cookies and Boston Creme pie.
My favorite pie is....well, pie. As long as the crust isn't disproportionately thick, any pie is pretty much the best pie. Although...there was this one Chocolate Cream Pie I had in a diner outside Barstow, CA in 1965 (or '66...it's been a while) that has never been topped, not even by the best NY cheesecake (which I do consider a custard pie).
A cheesecake needs two things a water bath but also a very clean and sharp knife that is cleaned between cuts. A cheesecake is really tough as it requires a lot to keep balanced and not a puddle on the baking mat nor a burnt mess.
Cheesecake is not that hard. I add honey and brush honey on top after baked so its shiny ✨️ it is important to add one egg at a time mix add mix add. It helps make a smoother cheesecake.
Blueberry pie is my favorite, my great grandfather though created one of New York’s most famous cheesecake recipes in the early twentieth century. For Lindy’s diners so popular it made it into stories of Damon Runyon.
Favorite pie - Blueberry. Easiest filling. Blueberry and sugar. Also Sweet Potato Pie and Fresh Peach. Bake the crust, make a glaze with some peach puree, sugar and corn starch, chill. Slice and peel fresh peaches, toss in chilled glaze, top with whipped cream. Fresh strawberry can be done the same way,
Derby pie is one of my favorites. It's basically a pecan pie with chocolate chips. Peach pie though is my favorite pie of all time. I used to live in Charlotte and we had a peach tree in the yard. Nothing beats a fresh peach pie with some homemade vanilla icecream
For cheesecake, try using goat cheese and cream cheese for the filling and sopapilla crust with fruit toppings such as prickly pear and berries. I put rum marinated raisens in my banana pudding. Try frying pies with puff pastry crust, which leads to simultaneous textures of moist and crunchy.
I make these all homemade!! Key lime pie is my favorite pie, cherry cheesecake is also up there, coconut macaroons with dark chocolate drizzle (not French macaron) Girl Scout Samoas (Caramel Delights, Keebler Coconut Dreams, Great Value coconut and caramel cookie)
I would never put Smores on such a top 10 list, while it is iconic in a way, I suspect it is one of those things that most Americans rarely actually eat
Cheesecake is always #1. After that for pies it’s pumpkin, lemon without the meringue, apple and blueberry. For cakes it’s carrot going very light on the frosting, regular birthday cake with no frosting,
Coconut Custard and Lemon Meringue are my favorite pies. Coconut Custard may be a regional thing. It’s served during the holidays but not so much the summer holidays. Love it better than any fruit pie. I believe Miss Vicky would love it and it really goes well with tea more so than coffee. The best.
Easy peanut butter bars. Peanut butter add just enough powdered sugar so the peanut butter is no longer sticky. Press into pan or bowl 1-2 cm or about .5inch. Topping is equal parts semisweet chocolate and butterscotch chips melted and mixed. Pour over peanut butter mix, let cool.
My favorite pies are apple and lemon meringue. I love blueberry, apple, and bran muffins as well as cupcakes which are completely different in the US. Strawberry shortcake is another favorite for me, I have even gone so far as to turn it into a cake so there is plenty...lol... Pound cake strawberries and whip cream.
Strawberry Rhubarb pie, but really just about anything, can't think of any dessert I would turn down. 😅 BTW, Jello is very good for upset stomachs, not the flu necessarily, but over eating, stress, etc.
Not sure if this has been mentioned yet... Shoo fly pie, a molasses-based pie, a regional dish from Pennsylvania's German area and the Amish. I grew up eating it and had my mother make one when my British friend visited. He liked it enough to try to replicate it in Britain. I would guess that most Americans have not heard of this.
My fav dessert is called Death by Chocolate. 2 rich chocolate brownies with a chocolate ganache in between with chocolate whipped cream on top. Then drizzled with chocolate sauce. Finally topped with a cherry and/or nuts. If you cant tell, I LOVE CHOCOLATE! My second fav dessert is called the Robert Redford and it is sorta a pie but more a dessert casserole or trifle. If you do a goggle search for Robert Redford Dessert you should find the recipe and it is rather simple to make.
Howdy from Texas. I myself am a retired former chef and chef instructor. And my late wife was a pastry chef. SO I don't have a single favorite pie. Having had all of her creations, I love them all. But I have to say that I miss her pecan pie most of all. And B.T.W, we also have jam as well as jelly and also preserves and fruit spreads. They are all slightly different. The main difference between our jam and our jelly is that jam is made using the meat of the fruit. So that there are discernable bits of fruit in it. Whereas jelly is only made from the juice of the fruit and is free from having any bits of the meat of the fruit in it. So that it has more of the look and consistency of a gelatin desert, which you lot call jelly over there in the U.K. , only it's not made with any gelatin at all but rather with pectin. Pectin is natural and comes from plants and does almost the same thing as gelatin only it doesn't need to be cold in order to thicken and become viscous. Preserves are simply made with more of the whole fruit. So no your jam is not what we call jelly. We call it jam as well. I believe that maybe you just don't have what we call jelly over there at all. . Just go online and order a jar of grape jelly, which is the number one jelly flavor here in America and has been for decades. Smuckers or Welches are the two top brands here. But be sure to get a good sized jar of it because James and you are going to absolutely love it. And then you guys can make the absolutely most authentic PB & J sandwich you've ever had.
Either a good baked New York or banana cheese cake. A chocolate malt the way I make them with Tillamook French vanilla or old-fashioned vanilla ice cream, Hershey's syrup, chocolate malt Ovaltine, 1% milk (any milk other than fake milk or non-fat will do), and extra Carnation malt powder. Or my Mom's devil's food cake with vanilla cream cheese frosting, and Tillamook French vanilla or old-fashioned vanilla ice cream.
Love to comment as I go..so #10 s'mores! S'mores aren't as popular as you think! They are a camping food or outside food in the summer. We really don't eat them year long at all! Think of them like your Christmas crackers! I know it's not food but those are for Christmas! Very popular yes! But like the cracker it's kinda specific to a time of year! We also don't make our own graham cracker...we buy them! The height of camping season is not the middle of August for families! In fact our kids are starting back in school so middle of August is time to get back to basics, because summer is over! A cookie for mom in law to try is a peanut butter cookie! This wasn't in the video but I've seen Europeans gag at the thought of bagels and fruit cream cheese! It's no different than a cheesecake! Seriously not many Americans eat jello unless they are in the hospital!
Jelly is made with the clear juice. Jam is made with parts of the fruit. Preserves is made with the whole fruit.
And marmalade has rind, and compote has nuts.
Carrot cake with creamcheese icing. It was our wedding cake.
Ours too!
That's a shame. But I would have loved it. But I can't imagine a carrot wedding cake.
Carrot Cake with a good frosting is the one I could have over and over and over again. Cheesecake a close second.
I make everything from scratch. From peeling and grating the carrots to the cream cheese frosting

Warm apple pie with vanilla ice cream 😋👍🤚
Key Lime Pie or Key Lime Cheesecake is pretty awesome.

My hubby makes me a pumpkin pie for my birthday instead of cake. I'm a pie over cake lady.
Pecan pie, Carrot cake with cream cheese icing, and Banana pudding. Honorable mention to New York style cheesecake.
I had an apple pie with a pecan pie topping. They're my two favorite pies and a family friend put them together for the best pie ever made.
Banana pudding is my favorite dessert. Apple pie second, pineapple upside down cake third.
