Able Skills tiling option range from an intensive five-day introductory course through to nationally recognised qualifications.
The five-day beginners' course will teach you tiling right from scratch and by the time you finish you'll have a full understanding of both floor and wall tiling.
The course covers setting out your tiling work preparing surfaces, explains all the different adhesives used for different surfaces and demonstrates all the tools you'll need.
You' learn cutting tiles with all the key tools.
We will also teach you how to cut for pipework, fit your tiling around switches and socket, work around windows and reveals, how to cut flooring around toilets and basins, how to cope with tiling difficult areas such as uneven walls.
If you're left wanting to learn more then we also have a five-day advanced tiling course which will teach you more complex tiling -- diamond patterns
the use of mosaic and how to remove and replace damaged tiles.
This extra five days will help you build speed and technique and give you that little more confidence.
If you feel that tiling's a career option then Able Skills offers a variety of professional packages.
There's a three-week course which will allow you to be assessed and build a portfolio for a City & Guilds unit accreditation and a four-week option which includes the use of natural stone slate and marble.
A six-week option will teach you tanking for wet rooms and showers
And show you how to screed floors and use self-levelling compound for when you come across uneven floors.
Finally, there's an eight week professional tiling option which has an element of specialist tiling like constructing archways and Victorian pathways.
It also gives you plastering and rendering skills so you're always able to prepare any surface ready to tile.
You'll be amazed at the skills you'll learn and the projects you'll complete will mean you'll be able to provide a complete tiling service to any customer.
Able Skills is also an NVQ assessment centre so once you're working in the industry and you develop in confidence, our tiling NVQ assessors can guide and support you through to your NVQ.

Tilers with no formal qualifications, Able Skills is approved to assess you on a fast track basis to gain that all important NVQ. This is known as Experienced Worker Practical Assessment and it can be possible to achieve the NVQ in 2 days.
