Oda is married, has a child, and he has been sick several times during his career as a mangaka, and been hospitalized even, but he said that he knows what its like to be a fan waiting for the next chapter of their favorite anime, and the anticipation we feel, so he works very hard because he doesn't want us to wait. He is someone who seriously needs a vacation, yet he already has a new series planned for when he finishes One Piece.
I watched all of one piece (when wano was ending) in 3 months. And then 2 months later I rewatched it with my fiancee and it took her 6 months. I watched every episode twice in 1 year. It’s not that bad length wise once you get into it
I don’t think most who actually watch the anime really care about the filler. The episodes go by really fast when you binge and I don’t see the problem with adapting a chapter an episode, because Oda writes so that every chapter something happens. If you saying 1 chapter to 1 episode makes bad pacing, then what the hell is the manga? I constantly hear “It MuSt Be aWfUl To WaTcH wEeKlY.” I watched weekly for about a year after I caught up, only bothered to catch up with the manga because I got spoiled by a One Piece TH-camr I didn’t even watch. The biggest problem with being an anime only, are the manga fans. Not the length, not the filler.
the ones the whine about the anime are *always* manga readers or those who dont know anything besides what they see in the mainstream. it obviously has issues but most of us do not care until you have manga readers crying in your ear about every new ep only adapting 1 chp

As a fan of a form of entertainment who likes to feel “Completed” when something happens to show it’s “Better than what came before”, I think the hype of One Piece to dunk on other shows with similar hype is the fact that we SPECIFICALLY want to feel like we’ve “Been through the journey” as much as the CHARACTERS WHEN IT WAS HAPPENING, as to feel like we could tell others WE were “There” when the whole series, “WENT DOWN/WAS BEING MADE”! As opposed to say… DBZ, when only boys in the 90’s “We’re there” to see the VERY ORIGINAL HYPE of Super Saiyan GOKU, and forever want to just say to younger gens: Oh yeah… I was there…!
tbf JOJOs has been running for like 10 years more than one piece. Like for example, JOJOs was already halfway done with Golden Wind (Part 5) when One Piece started.

I think one of the most powerful statements for starting OP or anything really, especially if someone's argument is the length of time to complete said show or other projects, task, education etc is "the time will pass anyways" .... regardless if you start now or later or never, that time will pass regardless of what you do or don't decide to do.... So do it anyways.

That arc was the same thing we've seen three times by that point, just even longer than before. And it was not even better done. Like, Dressrosa was bad, but at least its introduction was phenomenal with the atmosphere being completely opposite of what you expect with Doffy as the ruler and them having toys running around. Wano had nothing interesting going for. The only interesting parts of that whole thing were the flashbacks. Everything else was just so formulaic and already done way better beforehand.
