    See, we told everyone we'd be a super power:
    Some future day shall crown us,
    The masters of the main,
    Our fleets shall speak in thunder
    To England, France, and Spain;
    And the nations over the ocean spread
    Shall tremble and obey,
    The sons, the sons, the sons,
    Of brave America.

      Harald Handsvett Lol, classic. Tolls are what I would prefer. Or a simple annual road fee to use public roads. You use it, you pay for it. The point is you can't go to jail for not paying for roads - you just can't drive on them.

    • @MinecraftRick
      @MinecraftRick 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    I am British...fair play to the colonials...they beat us fair and square. We could not wage war on that front with the French also helping. We did however manage to beat America on the Canadian front. The British also were the only nation to burn down the White House....in 1812. this is all history and all water under the bridge. The colonial wars have no bearing on the relationships we have now. I for one love the Americans and we deserved to be booted out the way we treated them. Long live America and god save our queen!

      +Shovel RE Your right,it's all water under the bridge now!
      UK and US were there in the trenches of WW1 and there on those forsaken beaches of Normandy(So were the Canadians and all but NOT THE POINT)
      Two little wars that today we look back on and say,We were pretty stupid then weren't we?
      though,till this day,I say Great Britain was the strongest enemy the US has ever had,and today it's not as strong as she used to,but she's still a strong ally and one I'm glad to have.
      Wonder what our ancestors would say about that today,would they happy,mad,or just amazed that we have airplanes and crap. Probably that one.
      God save your queen.

Even if you were a hot shit warrior....you can't get out of ranks, you just stand right there and take that cannon coming toward you...Keep ranks above all.....tough time...I give the Rebel Colonists major props, even over WW2 soldiers, Rebel Americans were fighting barefoot in the snow.

    Am I the only one who noticed how the pronunciation of some final syllables? "Libertei" "Americay"

    • @BigFreakingCacodemon
      @BigFreakingCacodemon 5 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      I know this comment is four years old, but in that time period, when writing and reciting poetry, it was not uncommon to change the pronunciation of the final syllable such that it rhymed with its preceding line. Example:
      "Should Europe empty all her force, we'll meet her in array,
      and fight and shout and fight and shout for free Americay"
      For another example, listen to the verse in this song (th-cam.com/video/eWvdf_51Iq0/w-d-xo.html) at the 1:50 mark, which rhymes "day" with "Americay".

    What I wouldn't give to have been standing alongside my ancestors, driving the tyrannical British from our land. Our country isn't what it used to be, and what a glorious venture it would have been to fight and possibly die for liberty.

    • @cyclonegrizzly7801
      @cyclonegrizzly7801 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +zellarsDD777 It was actually amazingly terrible. You've got diseases, cold, heat, hunger and a million other things trying to kill you ON THE WAY TO the Battlefield and ON THE WAY BACK. You slept in tents during winter and you were pretty likely to go at least a month or two without pay oh and maybe loyalists would burn down your house while you're gone (or Patriots depending). The actual Liberty gained was amazing and brilliant but I'm sick of people saying how glorious it was. It was terrible and dirty

      +Man of Iron Have you read the Declaration of Independence, it's basically a list of reasons why we split from the British. And most, if not all of the Amendments in the Bill of Rights can be drawn back to something the Brits did to us.
      I assume you have an understanding of the Bill Of Rights, so I'm not going to tell you about what each amendment is
      1st: The Massachusetts Bay Act disallowed any town meetings.
      2nd: The necessity of the people to be able to rise up against a tyrannical force
      3rd: Quartering Act, let soldiers onto your home at any time and you had to feed them and give them a place to sleep.
      4th: Writs Of Assistance, given by the king, used to search any place that may have contraband and then take something without due process
      5th: When someone was arrested they were tried before a court biased entire against them, and when British soldiers were accused, they were taken back to Britain and tried there where everyone loves them and of course they're not going to be

    • @stevend285
      @stevend285 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Convicted, it also includes other handy bits like, not having to persecute yourself, the right to remain silent.
      6th: This one also pertains to the aforementioned, unfair court proceedings, you see to get out of even having to try people in court, they'd just throw them in jail to "wait" for the the rest of their life, or at least long enough for it to not apply any more. And sometimes when you were tried you didn't even have a lawyer, also an Impartial Jury of peers
      7th: This one is about suing people and other court procedures, again, unjust judicial systems that could barely be called "systems"
      8th: I hope this one is super obvious, it says what it means. No cruel or unusual punishment
      9th: This one is there so they didn't have to write in hundreds of thousands of rights
      10th: The states can make some laws too.
      The 5-8th are very similar, and 9-10 don't pertain to our grievances, but the first 8 definitely do, and if you don't think Britain was being Tyrannical by now, just read

    Dr. Warren and Major Small of the British army were good friends and met face to face on the Battle field. Major Small stood amongst the fallen boddies of his soldiers, waiting the balls from american muskets when Dr. Warren called, stop, do not fire. This man is a friend of mine. Major Small turned and walked off the battle field.

    For a long time, I've seen the most patriotism in the words and actions of soldiers. I love America for what it was and what it can become if the right course is chosen. I love my military heritage and my heroic ancestors. I'll be sure to carry the same American spirit into battle when I join the army as an officer and hopefully as a graduate of West Point. I like the tune and appreciate the lyrics that Warren added. Makes me very proud of this land that I call home

    Very nice song. Lots of confusion here in the comments. Battle of Bunker Hill took place on June 17, 1775. Warren was the Officer Commanding and killed in the final stages of the battle. It's been a while, the dead were put into a common grave and as I remember and I may be wrong, Paul Revere identified the body. Not many red headed men with two front teeth gone. I checked and I am right his brother found him. For those griping about the music, you need to know more of the music. Continued.

    We might have won the Revolutionary War only with the monetary help of the French and Dutch, but we received no assistance during the war of 1812, while British received help from Native Americans. We fought the world's most powerful Navy only years into forming our own country, and we still won.

    • @Raptor1867
      @Raptor1867 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually no one won the War of 1812, it was resolved by the Treaty of Ghent.

    • @kaitlinbode
      @kaitlinbode 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      One of the main objectives of the War of 1812 was to stop the impressment of U.S. ships and gain international respect. We achieved this, whereas the British didn't technically win anything. While there was no shift in land ownership as a result of this war, it's fair to say the United States won because we completed our objective.

    • @Raptor1867
      @Raptor1867 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And the British achieved some of their goals as well, like defending British North America by Defeating the Americans at key battles like Queenston Heights, Lundy's Lane and at the Siege of Detroit. So you can basically say this war was a draw, because the British achieved their goals of defending British North America from American invasion.Kaitlin Bode

    But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.

    I love the British grenadiers song. But, as an American with revolutionary war heritage. This isn't too bad. Just wish I'd heard it back then. Or perhaps a choir and orchestra could perform it. It would sound great. Look up "the ballad of the green mountaineers" for a well done version of a revolutionary war song. Also, I recommend "Chester" the original anthem of the US and New England. Simply amazing and inspiring tunes.

    The french joined us in arms in 1778 and fought along side of us until the war was over in 1783. They also provided covert aid in the form of war supplies starting in 1776.

    @THeRevolting1 I've read both the original Constitution and Declaration of Independance, while both are superb documents and both should be followed, the Declaration of Independance was meant to announce the colonies separation from Britain and unite the people in the revolution, and the Constitution was meant to make the laws and guiding prinicipals of the nation. The Constitution is well-written and brilliant, and I hate people in the government that misuse and abuse it. God Bless :)

    Continued... Warren and his troops only gave way when they had no more powder. John Stark the hero, of Bennington, and former executive officer of Rogers Rangers saw nothing wrong with the action that I know of. Indeed, this action at Bunker Hill" convinced the British to send one of the largest armies ever assembled by the UK, with some of their best generals. Current politics are not relevant this song, or this great man. Nor is French bashing or praise the issue. This was all Boston.

  • @SaaaakuraDev
    @SaaaakuraDev 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Here's the original British lyrics:
    Some talk of Alexander, and some of Hercules
    Of Hector and Lysander, and such great names as these
    But of all the world’s great heroes
    There’s none that can compare
    With a tow, row row row , row row row
    To the British Grenadiers
    None of these ancient heroes ne’er saw a cannon ball
    Nor knew the force of powder to slay their foes with all
    But our brave boys do know it and banish all their fears
    Sing tow, row row row , row row row
    For the British Grenadiers
    When e’er we are commanded to storm the palisades
    Our leaders march with fuses, and we with hand grenades;
    We throw them from the glacis about the enemies’ ears
    Sing tow, row row row , row row row
    For the British Grenadiers
    And when the siege is over, we to the town repair
    The townsmen cry ‘Hurrah, boys, here comes a Grenadier’
    Here come the Grenadiers, my boys, who know no doubts or fears
    Sing tow, row row row , row row row
    For the British Grenadiers
    So let us fill a bumper, and drink a health to those
    Who carry caps and pouches, and wear the louped clouthes
    May they and their commanders live happy all their years
    Sing tow, row row row , row row row
    For the British Grenadiers

    My mom told me she was going to turn off the wifi at midnight so I sent her this. Murica is a free country. You cant drag me down and tell me the wifi is going off. Nuh uh. That's not what our brothers and sisters fought for. America must be free from parents who threaten to turn off wifi at midnight when it's winter break. Nope. I refuse to be treated this way. I'm going to write the president a clear and honest paper on how wifi should be allowed at all times, even when you accidentally forgot to do the dishes. Did George Washington fight for me to not be free?! NO! He fought for me to be free! Has George Washington died in vein, knowing his descendants have been victimized and controlled? I hope not! This tyranny must end! I will not be subject to this prejudice ever again!
