Quarantine Blind Starbucks adventure! First time adventure in 2 1/2 months!

- I love my completely blind guide dog fun adventures! I know you guys do too, hopefully things will be improving with our situation here soon and we will be able to get out and do more of this in the near future.

Again, I am 100% completely blind, and have been this way for over 12 years. Arabella and I have been working together for a little over two years. So blessed to have her in my life. The relationship between me and Arabella is so beautiful. There’s so much trust and faith that goes in to every step I take with her. Because of Arabella, and because of the confidence within myself, we are able to live a normal, beautiful, independent, and joyful life full of freedom!

Natalie Adams yes, I love that I taught her these things at home which can be applied in our every day working life as well :-) such a smart girl

I like to think about how the people in the cars react to seeing a lady running with her dog and being so happy and cheering. It probably makes their day.

Oh my goodness yes, all. The. Time. I have people ask me everywhere I go if I am training Arabella LOL. So glad I make blindness look so good :-)
Just before you commented on the greenery, I was thinking to myself how green and lush your neighbourhood was! The grass on your left was bright green and there are large bushy trees in the centre median. Really lovely. So glad you can get out!

So awesome to see guide dogs work in real life. I trained guide dog puppies way back in the day and this just brings me so much joy :)
The streets should have a voice speaker to say go or dont go. This world needs to have special resources for people that have disabilities. I hope the world can change
In my country we have specific sounds with the intersection, when you push the button it’s starts beeping slow. And when it’s green it will start to beep a lot faster. Which I think is needed for every intersection.
we have those where I live on most downtown crosswalks, on public transport too

Where I live in California, when you press the crosswalk button an electronic voice says “Wait” each time you hit it. And then when it’s time to cross, the electronic voice will say “crosswalk sign is on” & there is a beeping sound that continues until the stop sign comes on!
I don't know if she actually knows what you mean by Starbucks (like "take me to starbucks") but maybe if you say "take me to puppacino" she will know what you are talking about because she associates starbucks with puppacino's! (I know nothing about seeing eye dogs...just thought it could be an idea...) :P

Great little adventure Joy. I cant wait util lockdown ends - I got my very first guide dog (Spencer) the week before lockdown started, so only had 4 days of training, before we had to call it a day :-( However, Spencer stayed with me at my home, so we have just been playing, bonding, doing obedience and leash walks on=ce a day. He knows 4 routes now on leash, finds the crossings, doors and seats for me - and I just cant wait for training to recommence and get out on harness. I have had a glimpse of what a guide dog can bring, and im sure the future is going to be bright with him by my side. Blessings to you and your lovely family - Terry x

I bet Arabella was just as excited as you, Joy. Being cooped up is hard on them as well. I don't know what I would do without my girl. Aside from normal commands, her special trick is to bring me her collar when it is time to go out.
I wish I had a Starbucks closer to walk to. Usually my daughter, my service dog, and I walk to the boba place across the street. I asked if they could let me order from outside because i legally can't drive and they told me no. My poor daughter was so disapointed but soon stores will be opening up soon.
Have you thought about calling them and talking to the manager? Express your situation, that’s what I did
I am so sorry, hopefully things are going to be improving and opening up in the near future. Safety obviously is first, but definitely think about contacting them again and talking with the manager. I really hope it works out for you and your daughter :-)
@@JoyRoss I didn't think about calling the manager at the time I only spoke to the workers. It was mostly disappointing for my daughter because she gets so bored because I can't drive due to my epilepsy. My husband did find another boba place that would accommodate us so i took her a couple days ago. She loves watching you and Arabella though! I hope you and your family stay safe!

That is nice that they would do that for you because most places I can see them saying no I don't care if you're blind and you have someone else do it for you or something like that so that's nice that they're not rude we need more people like that that can help us blind people.

This is what I love about living in Sydney: raised dots at the curb cut and a crosswalk noise.
In Minneapolis they all say "wait" repeatedly until it's safe. Then it tells you what street you are crossing onto when it says you can walk. But I don't think I've noticed textured spots. 🤔
It's so good to see you and Arabella out and about again. 😊 Keeping Arabella's skills sharp. It was adorable to see Arabella looking for her pupachino, everytime Liam opened the door. 😊
She knows she's supposed to get one whenever she goes to Starbucks with you. 😊❤🐕
It was also great to see that the retrieving skills you taught Arabella at home, comes in handy in an every day situation. 😊👍🏼

My son has leukemia and everywhere we go you always see people that take advantage of "service animals" and just seeing this made me so happy! I'm so happy that you have someone that can help you do things you otherwise wouldn't be able to do! Venturing off can be scary to begin with, nevermind if you can't see. I can't even imagine! You give me inspiration! Keep on pushing lady theirs so many people, like me, that need to see stuff like this! On my bad days it just makes me realize things will get better! I don't know you and I already love you! 💜💚

It felt so amazing to get out after being stuck in my home for such a long time. We are going to be doing this route many more times now that we know we can get a Starbucks LOL, will give us something to do and will keep both of us up on our skills. Also, was so nice to see a nice stranger even if it was just for a moment LOL. The little things you take for granted, right? Blessings and see you on the next video :-)

I’m new to your channel and I have been watching old videos and new ones. My 6 year old daughter was watching with me and ask all kinds of questions. She really wanted to watch your videos where you take your prosthetics out. She said she wants to train dogs to help blind people. She thinks it’s amazing how you get around and listen to see where people and things are.

I wish I had more things within walking distance where I live. I’m legally blind and my husband is currently working out of state, but I can see well enough to ride a bike and was able to go get a pedicure yesterday, so that felt good!

@@JoyRoss I'm on Vashon island in Puget sound, the ferry to get here is in west Seattle near westwood target! We have a guide dog training club in our high school and I don't know the number but our high school (with the help of professionals on the team) has successfully trained many guide dog puppies!
