They ended up using "security footage" that showed her from the back!?!? as proof.
@@joemadden4160 There is this unclaimed Lottomax prize of 70,000,000 this year . OLG never bother to look for that person . I guess that person is not the right colour for OLG .
The Lottery company should have the address of the store where you bought the ticket!
Yes, they want you to answer it to verify you are the rightful winner.
Guilty until proven innocent
Thank the shady store owner/retailer scammers for that.
Nothing to do with guilty she just doesn't get the prize right away. If they give the money and she spends it all it's hard to get back. Especially when it gets to large amounts
I never played the lottery before because why would you....but a video like this only strengthens my resolve.
Glad she got her money though.
When a winning ticket is presented without challenge or dispute...OLG shut up and pay up!
Later that day she bought 10 cartons of smokes
😂😂😂
😂😂😂
In my province, she could only buy 5 for that much. I'm serious.
Maybe on the rez, but not out in the real world.
And a two-four
This over a thousand dollars? Shame on them.
But what if i get it as a Christmas gift and i live in a different province ,believe me i get a lot of tickets from family and friends across Canada
You can not cash tickets from out of province. Even if it is only a free $2 scratch ticket.
@bobwhite4902 I know if I won look i live in B.C 29 of my relatives I gotta go to that Provence, but not knowing where it was bought is another story. . ( my opinion is ,it should not matter what Provence ,you should not have to. ) and 129 friends live all over Canada.
I used to work at the prize centre. you can cash your prize by submitting online even if you live in a different province, we had a lot of cases like that. If someone gifts you the ticket and it turns out to be a winner over $1k, they have to provide a releasor form and verify where they bought the ticket for you.
@@aizoko thanks for the info. It means a lot to me.
I often purchased tickets in different areas. I never thought I had to remember exactly where I purchased my ticket. If this is a requirement it should be made clear to everyone.
Wow. That is unfair. Boycott olg
Too bad so sad. You have to read the fine print.
That is the most insane thing I have either hear. How is it possible to remember why one buys a ticket. I go for gas buy a ticket, go to the corner store buy a ticket, go to Shopper's buy a ticket, go to Super Store buy a ticket. Crazy to expect someone to remember.
Crazy you dont remember your day also phones can track locations you've been and at what time it doesn't take that much effort to scroll and research your winnings location etc
Also if you bought with a card it should show the date time on your bank account and match it with the ticket date and time SIMPLE
@@beebeedeeieyup, phone and debit and then if not just like the person here OLG will just investigate....see if anyone shows up, eventually they will publish you as the winner, withold your winnings for a period of time (all available on their website) and if no one disputes it will probably release it.
They are mandated by law and this is to make sure that we don't create a society that hunts loto winners.
I know a fellow in Cambridge, ON who won $1 million. Like this lady, he is someone who was always travelling and bought tickets in multiple places. He had no idea where he bought his winning ticket--it could have been in a dozen different places. He finally got his money but it took several months.
She needs to check her bank statement
She should sue.
She got it. Says at the end.
Authenticate the ticket if they are legitimate. Asking where and when they bought the ticket should never be a requirement if they say they can’t remember.
She should check her bank records
If she paid debit or credit they’ll have that information
She’s a fossil, she probably paid cash
This should be posted as a requirement at time of buying tickets
Ridiculous!!
They have no problem accepting the buy of the ticket!
This is ridiculous!
The OLG needs to be stripped and rebuilt
I BET A LOT OF THOSE GUYS HAVE BECOME RICH OR THEIR KIN HAVE BECOME RICH.
All lottery corps in this country need to be investigated. I mean, that $70MM lotto max jackpot went on for how many weeks? That right there smells of corruption.
Hire a lawyer!
Well after seeing this I will never again buy a lottery ticket!! That's ridiculous.. it's only 1k.. give her the money! What if it's a Christmas gift!!??! Or a Birthday gift!?! What a crock of crap!!
I guess you have to write where you purchased the ticket, ON THE TICKET. I have a poor memory and this question would catch me. I buy at a bunch of different stores. I'm glad I saw this video. I will be writing the location on EVERY ticket I purchase. It may take longer to get my prize, writing on it, but at least, I'LL GET IT. Hoooly .... makes you almost want to stop buying tickets if this is the rigamirole they're going to put you through.
Seems pretty convenient that they say "any winnings over $1000" and she won $1003. It's like these companies know how the game works and rig it in their favor. 🤔
The rules were created to protect lottery winners. It's not their fault this woman can't understand rules that have been in place for decades.
I used to give these as gifts once in a while, but I see now there is no point
As a regular lottery player, I know ALL of the rules/information that I need every time I purchase my tickets . One of the rules that I make sure that I get before I leave the store every week with my regular tickets is to GET THE RECEIPT. So when the time comes where I WIN $1000 OR MORE on a single ticket, then I have all the information that I need to claim my prize.
Ok karen
you sound like you have a gambling problem
Also has an attitude problem !!!
@@DudeAthletic You Gotta Be IN IT to WIN IT!
You can find a lost ticket on the ground, that money is still yours!!!
I love how the ad that I viewed before this was for OLG that’s hilarious
PAY UP OLG. I don't pay attention as to where I buy every ticket and don't always check my tickets immediately. This is ridiculous.
I've ALWAYS kept the purchase receipt with the ticket(s) until AFTER I've checked the tickets. ALWAYS. That's probably why I never win!😂🤣
This is either pure incompetence, or deliberate attempt to avoid payouts by the lottery corporation. The reference should be ON the ticket.
The OLG is not fair to this woman because they need to drop such questions. The woman cannot remember where she bought the ticket unless she wrote that on the back of her ticket as an example.
Another corrupt business, some lottery boss got it at OLG.
This is an outrage really not even the American lottery has done something like this shame just madness
Write where you bought it in on the back just in case.
Give the woman her money!
Someone didn't listen to the video they gave her the money and DO NOT WRITE IT IN THE BACK. THey ask you this to prove you are the rightful owner. If you do this, and they cannot prove it you will be waiting for your money. THIS PROTECTS THE WINNER
Should be more than $1000, where is the interest on that money?
I think if the prize is over $10,000 then I could see why they would want confirmation of ownership but $1003 is ridiculous. Give her the money
The purchased ticket should have location id number for confirmation.
So you have to keep tracks of stores? That is sad.
The lady is very reasonable and articulate
Welcome to 2024....I won thousands of dollars in the lottery in the past and was never asked these questions. I blame trudeau
OMG!!! THis is sick!
The cheating thieves will do anything to deny you your money, surprised there was really a winner
The thief is you you horrible person
This is exactly why you have to ask for a receipt every single time
I don't think I will ever play again until the draws are live again . This whole we draw the numbers through a ( random number generator) should not be trusted .
I AGREE....WHY IS IT NOT LIVE SO THAT WE CAN SEE WITH OUR OWN BEADY EYES.
This is not just Ontario. A clerk told me in Nova Scotia to keep my receipt as I would need it to collect.
ALL TICKETS HAVE THE STORE NUMBER WHERE WE BUY THEM...DON'T THEY!!
They have the lottery terminal number the ticket was bought from.
The lottery corp knows where the ticket was sold and what day and time it was sold. They ask those questions to verify you are the rightful owner of that ticket by answering as many questions as you can.
@@bobwhite4902 Do you have a $20 dollar bill in your wallet? Well it is mine. I am the rightful owner! Get the point? Why would a lottery ticket be any different except as an excuse NOT TO PAY!
@@ronstephen72 sooo, if you lost your wallet and the person who found your wallet is now the rightful owner of a winning lottery ticket that was in your wallet,,, they should be able to claim that prize with no questions asked? Asking these questions is not a new thing. I always tell my customers to take a receipt, lotteries is not allowed to take your receipt away from you. The receipt has everything you need to know on it. It doesn’t hurt to write on your receipt the name of the store you bought it at. Some retailers use a business number instead of a name so write down the name of the store on your receipt as well.
I learned from a variety store in Ontario to get a receipt when buying a ticket. The store owner told me a big winner had to wait a year before he got his money because lotto had to investigate where the ticket was sold. I always get a receipt. It tells the store and address.
It should already be recorded where it was bought. In BC they know the location of a winning ticket the night of the draw.
Why are they so strict with this Non sense .... Where did you buy your ticket??? Why do they care its not their own money to give ???
Why olg cares? If someone lost winning ticket and took pictures before, and found out later it was big winning ticket, olg already paid out to someone. Olg gets lawsuits, olg should pay the right owner again.if this happens, ontario tax payer will smash the olg site.
This is such a wild situation! 😅 Like, why does it have to be so complicated? The lottery is supposed to be fun, not a treasure hunt! Just give the lady her money already! 💸🤷♂️
