My favorite part of openings is watching them back after you’ve beaten the game. Cold Steel 1 and 2’s hint at so much that you only really understand once you’ve beaten the game, and it’s cool to watch them back and notice shit you didn’t before

you know there aren’t many series over the past few years that have made me feel the way trails of cold steel has. while i’m relatively new to the trails franchise having finished the first game recently & only being about 14 hours into cold steel 2, i have to say so far my experience has been special. yes the first game had some really really slow pacing but in a way cold steel 2 has made me appreciate that a lot more. the entire franchise took a complete 180 after the ending of the first game & i was really glad to see the sequel basically turned everything on its head. it’s what’s made 2 a lot more enjoyable experience for me because i pulled though the first game despite my problems i had with its narrative pacing. i’m so excited to keep going with this!
You're telling me and I've played a lot of games. The Trails of Cold Steel saga has been a great experience thus far. Personally, I had no problems with the first game and as excited as I was to play Trails of Cold Steel II, it took me like 2 or 3 years to finally play the sequel to see where that cliffhanger was going to take me. I got caught up in my backlog. Never again with any Legend of Heroes game that make their way to the west. Playing them Day 1 of release from here on out. :)

CS2 is legit the weakest game in the series plot-wise. The best kiseki games plot-wise are SC and Ao, though people say that CS3,4 aren't bad as well. Also, another problem with CS1,2 is that they are ridiculously easy in the late-game. I'd recommend playing CS1 only on nightmare and CS2 only with difficulty mod because even nightmare is easy AF. By the way, CS2 is rather slow at the end as well, more so than CS1 at the beginning.
@@greenlitlleman all Kiseki games are broken in terms of balance. Players simply have too many tools and options to work with. But I do believe that Sky had to be the worst arc in terms of actual game design, mostly due to SC and its "Enforcer of the week" structure. Story-wise, CS2 has to be one of the best Kiseki games, just due to the ending. Not many scenes in the series, can hit as hard, but practically all CS games are quite good in delivering satisfying epilogues.
@@coupdegrace2767 Even with all the options available to the player in Sky and Crossbell games you still struggle at higher diffuculties, the game is still challenging and it makes you use everything you can to survive some harder bosses. In CS games you can literally one-shot some bosses or delay them so much that they can't do anything at all. The only reason why I completed CS2 is that I found a difficulty mod, but even with it, the game isn't too hard on Nightmare (this is a mod that nerfs many OP abilities and makes enemies about 50%(!) faster, the game is still not as difficult as Hard in Persona 3-5). Also, the ending in CS 2 is decent (I wouldn't say that it is "hard0hitting" though), but the rest of the plot is really really weak. It is a known fact that CS1,2 were supposed to be one game, but then split in the process. This is why both games drag so much and CS2 feels more like a spin-off most of the time. Half of the game barely has any plot development, you just fly around the country doing side-quests and completing dungeons.
This song has such a great hook, right near the beginning. 0:17 is the first one and 0:29 is the second. They stick in your head and you find yourself anticipating them and singing/lip-synching along. Excellent song.

And spoilers I cried when the member of class vii died everyone cryin made me cry and I cried a little at the very end when everyone was crying about class vii being over
@@littlemickey80 oh ok, speaking of that member (since I often play along with people's preferences lol), this series do a better job with him than P5 vanilla atleast lol, but it's intriguing watching different people's reaction to that lol. I'd say as long as the loading times was fast, I preffered the open world of 2, oddly enough, as a young adult with a life, especially after the pandemic is over, I appreciate the linear nature of 3, but to me 3 is more eventful and interesting/constantly engaging than 1 overall lol 😂
@@littlemickey80 guess since I'm assuming you'd be starting 3 eventually, I'll just say 3 was my favorite considering 4, I'm kinda surprised they could give rean much more character development to the point 2 feel like a midway point for him, given that overall it's a 4 part series xD. Plus to me, 3 and 4 to a degree handled the Thor's student body alot more. Hopefully whenever you get into it, it'd be Intriguing to hear your thoughts and first impressions xD

lol I was like half way through Cold Steel 1 when I bought this and CS3...I'm hoping CS4 is gonna be on the Steam Winter sale too, so I can buy that then
And I'm now only just on Cold Steel 4, a month later...I can kind of see why these games aren't as popular as it initially seem they should be. Trails has easily wormed its way as one of my favourite series but sheesh, 9 games almost all of which are at least 50 hours long with even more entries on the way...and probably another arc after Calvard's.
