I'm back on the farm with plenty of projects to focus on. Poor Vinny the vintage caravan has been ignored, so it's a good feeling starting again. I am also making Hayden some bus curtains to replace his horrible old ones! I also give Hayden my camera for a day while he builds a platform for the back of my ute... much more organised now.

I told you a few months ago that Hayden would make a great addition to your channel. Between the two of you this vid was really entertaining and fun to watch.
I'm trying Skillshare - thanks for the 2 free months!
Loved Hayden's touch of putting headphones over the camera 🤣
I had a laugh when he told me what he’d filmed 🤣
Hayden looks like he's been waiting for the moment his entire life! He's a natural in front of the camera!
haha, he surprised me!
Something really special about this video, K. The doggo, the bee, the headphones on the camera, the sunshine and two smiling people living a really interesting life....loved it.
That's really great to hear!
Keep bringing Hayden on the show.
Good to know George!
Really enjoyed Hayden's bit, he did a great job. The new curtains are a big improvement too!
Good to hear! On both points 😉
The sewing machine and rivets: 2 great inventions of the last century. Caulk/sealant: a necessary evil. A proper solvent on a rag makes all messy applications look professionals
I'll agree with those two inventions!
Hayden was a hoot, awesome video loved his sense of humour, need more like this, thanks for sharing Karen, All the best to you both.
Good to hear! I'll lend my camera to Hayden more often😉
As a person who worked withing the TV-production environment I can say that Hayden has a talent for video-making. He definitely can start his own channel and make "guest appearances" on yours.
Good to know Alan...
Hayden is such a clever and gentle soul. I think you have chosen well with this man.
Like the Hayden bit, great job. Sealing is a pain most of the time, doing in neatly needs lots of patience, half a bottle of vodka and a few valium.
I’ll buy some Vodka on my next visit to town 🤣
Hayden! You legend! ...awesome...and hilarious...the bee was a fantastic added effect hahaha
So glad you enjoyed Hayden's addition! And I had to include the bee🤣
What an amazing view! Well done Hayden, it was a fun bit. Nice curtains also. 😊
It's a great view! But can get windy... as I'm experiencing today.
"Time to consult with the boss..." You got that right mate! Liked the PPE while he was cutting!
It was funny watching the unedited footage for the first time 🤣
Maybe it's just me but every video with Hayden in it I really enjoy maybe it's a man thing but he brings so much to the channel with his smile cheers
Good to know... and funny that when I first introduced him, I was worried no one would want him on the channel.
Win/Win! The new curtains will make the bus more cosy, Hayden did a great job on that shelf! Cute bee photo-bomb!
Wasn't the bee timing perfect!
Haydn is a natural. I'm sure he could give us (and demonstrate) lots of diy tips.
Sure he'll share plenty more!
Love Hayden’s sense of humor. ❤️
He did enjoy filming this!
Hayden it's good you know who the boss is.
🤣😜
Ha! Loved Hayden's "Builder's Crack" cover-up at about 6:50!
Nigel Marx I had to go and relook at that. Good that he did that, wouldn’t want to be trashy now 😉
haha good spot...
Hayden you gave me a good chuckle... You two work well together helping each other to improve your spaces. Many couples would have killed each other by now 😂
Wonderful Hayden, what a nice job he did for you, still think you are the luckiest person to have that scenery
Haha, lets see how we get on as I get help with Vinny!
You folks work well together!
Lovely to hear Mike 😀
Great to see progress on the off-grid projects. Please keep the updates coming. Quick Q: what are your plans for the classic van? A mobile home, a portable workspace, studio, or gallery, a showcase restoration, or something else?
I keep changing my mind about the vintage caravan! Initially I was going to live in it permanently... now I'm considering it becoming guest accomodation!
Good to see you and Hazen getting really domestic with the curtains. The sleeping area looks like its straight out of some Sheik's dessert tent in Decameron nights.Good to see Hazen talking more and you Karen laughing again too. Stay safe keep warm look after each other.
Cheers
haha guess the bed is a bit different! And the base is home built too🤣
You make a great team on camera ❤...Hayden's a natural at connecting with people and a hoot! Love it 😁
So lovely to hear Vicky!
How good does the back of that Ute look like. He is a clever bugger👍👍👌👌😎😎
Yes, it's such an improvement!
Hayden was great and love how he put the headphones over the camera :D He did a great job that was a great idea he had, the curtains are also a big improvement, I imagine its much easier to sleep on bright mornings now
I can’t even get the sealant pump thing to work well and I get frustrated with that before I even start! Last project I ended up buying expensive can of product just to get it done. Ahh well. And new curtains make any room so they really did the trick. Love those wee blinds. Thanks for the Skillshare link. I joined up, I should learn a thing or two I’m sure.
Glad I’m not the only one frustrated with sealant! Yes, curtains make a huge difference. Hope you enjoy Skillshare 😀
Super video. Enjoyed the Hayden insert (and thanks for the Ear Defenders! 😁). I'm enjoying your background music 🎶 - just the right amount at the right parts.
I had a laugh when Hayden told me what he’d filmed 🤣 Glad you liked the music
Hayden’s a great guy. You make a well suited couple.
Thanks Kathryn!
Yes keep Hayden's projects coming hes a natural
Good to hear Leigh!
Great video,I can’t do sealant neatly either.Hayden is fab x
Glad I'm not the only one...
Hayden did really well, definitely let him do some more.
Love the clothesline! Very resourceful. Gives me ideas. =)
And on windy days, clothes are instantly dried🤣
Well done Hayden!
Nice work - both of you !
Thank you!
You have such a beautiful country there. I can think of much worse places to be hold up in. You two work well together, and as is stated down below, Hayden is a natural in front of the camera. The hearing protection, genius. Take care and God Bless, Paul from Florida.
Exactly! It's a lovely spot Paul. And it's a nice accident that Hayden happens to be good on camera🤣
This was fun. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it Linda!
Well done, Hayden! And congratulations for the sponsorship :-)
Glad you enjoyed Hayden’s part! And yes, pretty happy with the sponsorship 😀
Looking organised! The curtains certainly make a difference! Thank you!
Yes, it completely changed the space with those curtains.
Well done Hayden.... definitely should have a section, Hayden the handyman.
Handy Hayden... has a ring to it!
Hayden is hilarious.
Sometimes... 😜
There is a knack to sealant. I can sometimes make a neat job of it other times I struggle.
Glad to hear it’s not just me!
@@TravellingK is a tricky job to tackle if not doing it all the time
Hey my friend hope you are well and having a great week so far. Just found you today and really pleased we have your videos are awesome. Fantastic footage. Thanks for sharing your experience with us really appreciate it. Huge thumbs up. Stay safe and catch up again real soon God bless you both. ❤️
A “MASSIVE SHOUTOUT “ to “SKILLSHARE” for sponsoring this video and many others to come.
Brilliant job with video audio Hayden !!!!!
Drilling rivets - if the rivet starts rotating, hold the drill not straight - say about 20-30° off perpendicular. The rivet will still rotate but the tip of the drill will gouge out little bits with each revolution until you're through.
Good to know!
Great job! Enjoyed the Hayden bit he’s a natural.good idea with Skillshare class, I have heard of it so I will have to take a look.
I'll need to lend my camera to Hayden more often! haha. Hope you enjoy Skillshare.
Great video thanks for sharing 🥂
Glad you enjoyed it Anne!
Hayden was great 👍
Thanks Fran!
Glad he's been ok with my filming! haha

Great video as usual both! Team work makes the dream work! Good that you both help each other. Has Hayden tried using the sewing machine yet K? Love to you both x
Hayden, I have that same hair!
Some great work carried out in this vlog....stay safe....thanks for sharing
Glad you enjoyed it Ian!
The traveling K
I’m now 67 years old and would like to tell you my story with the most honesty.
From my early years I was happy to think I would earn enough money’s to make myself happy, and I did, it paid for all of my bills. Even bought my own house when I eventually got married, everything was hunky dory.
It was 1972 and all was going well in my life. This lasted for twenty odd years and I had no regrets, I had no big debts and even was able to buy my rented house with 70 % discount what’s better?
At 40 I was made redundant, now unable to pay all of my bills, at that point in my life I had two sons a mortgage and nothing to look forward to,
so I made the biggest decision in my life.... I just took a leap of faith on my abilities. I’ve done the same job for twenty five years and was good at it.
I had another engineer friend who was also made redundant at the same time and we decided to get together and do the same job but we would be our own bosses.that was back in 1992. I’ve never looked back. In 2010 a company named Kone Cranes from Norway bough us over and paid us a shit load of money to do what we already knew.
The point I’m making is do what you know, I know life can be shit, but what you know is a commodity that can make you money and also something that you love to do.
Think of it, doing something you love and knowing that you are really good at it whatever that is and making a shit load money.
You are the only person that can make that choice, who knows you better than you.just be comfortable in what you do
Take care and be happy 😊
So great to hear that after a financial scare with redundancy you were able to start a successful business! Nice to hear the inspiring stories.
not bad m8, an hayden didn't do a bad job on the 'shelf' either. if you got a sewin machine, i could use some curtains. can i send ya the measurments? hows ya dad? better of than i was in a home, i hope? stay safe an well eh!
haha I've got a few more items still to sew! Dad's doing ok... just wishing it wasn't lockdown so he can socialise more! It was all his choice to move in and we've considered this for over 1.5 years. It's a swish village too😉
You were both upstaged by the busy bee 🐝 😆
haha yes!
Good video, like the new idea. Must give Hayden more projects. Like the music,us it traditional Maori?
Oh I could easily pill on the projects for Hayden🤣All music was from Epidemic Sound...
awesome vid ,love the blue dog
Joe is a cutie!
My favourite cleaning solvent is white spirit (probably because it's quite cheap as much as anything) - if you get a pump-sprayer bottle from an old kitchen cleaner or something..clean it out and dry it, and then fill it with white spirit (and mark the bottle as WS). Get two sheets of kitchen roll together and fold them into a quarter size and give one side a couple of sprays from the bottle, then you have a decent cleaning pad with essentially one wet side and one dryer side...they are great for working around with things like sealant smears. For the final smooth finish on the actual joint, dip your finger in the white spirit, flick off the excess, then run your finger along the joint to get a good/neat/clean line. If your extra keen it's always a good idea to also clean out the joint first as well if possible with a white spirit cleaning pad, or to avoid leaving paper residue which can get pinched/trapped, to use a cloth with a couple of pumps of the white spirit in that scenario....I've even used cotton buds for things like this, or even a cloth wrapped around a slim knife/scraper blade...it's 'the cleaner the better' for getting your sealant to work/adhere well. If you need to clean bigger areas you can use the pump spray directly on the work piece and dry kitchen roll to clean it. (you may go through a lot of kitchen roll, but it's better than trying to keep cleaning with an already dirty cloth)
You guys are so much like me on these jobs....a bit rough and ready and always learning, but looking to do a good job that will last well...keep up the good work!! :)
Thank you for this advice! Rough and ready? Sounds like us 🤣
:D ... also...once that sealant is dry it's a bugger to get off...so it will probably need the scraper on it gently :)
Have you left a space for a spare fuel can? 😉
haha I'll make room!
Super videos, both of you. Re sealant; try smoothing it with some washing-up liquid on your finger.
Ah that interesting! Shall give it a go...
Nice video Karen, your usual brilliant self. I enjoyed watching. My only comment would be for Hayden or yourself to anchor in a cargo net over your nice and neat shelving in the ute just in case (Heaven forbid) you are in an accident that sends stuff flying. Would hate to see your gas cylinder land on your noggin. Be safe, both of you. Best wishes from the Health and Safety busybody 😉
Thanks Louise! The back is completely sealed from the rest of the vehicle.
Ps I know now that I should have done that twenty years earlier but life does make your choices for you sometimes that you follow.again it’s your choice and yours alone.
Just trying to be a friend 👍🏽
Hayden, you didn't show us the lovely gourde coloured carpet your going to put in the bus mate, NO I'm not talking to you K, this guy talk, haha !! Great job mate well done, got to keep them happy. Seeya Rob.............................great job on vinny to K till the tube exploded............seriously mate we let them touch and use our gear and look what happens haha. Could you imagine if you touched K's sewing machine, just shacking my head !!
Bahaha no carpet! But I love borrowing Haydens tools😜
Great sense of humour!!
It was a fun one
Cool well done 👍
Great to hear Sandrine!
I really enjoy your videos. Hayden is pretty funny 👍🏻
So good to hear Annelies!
So many skills
Yes, Hayden is so handy! And I'm ok at the sewing machine🤣
How can you concentrate with that VIEW? I'm afraid I would just trail off my sentences as I got distracted: 'Did you see the...ummm....that thing...... hmmmm......' Cheers from New York!
It's a little distracting... some lovely sunsets from here.
The lad did well.
Think he's a keeper😜
If you two ever need a Celebrant I’m keen ... just saying 😀😀😀
hahaha thanks Wendy.
Well ..while you were coonsulting with the boss ..wees were attacked by a marauding killer bee .. i put some ice on it ..the swelling should go doon ...😍😎😋
You are such a lovely couple guys.big kisses from France 😘
So nice to hear!
Please use safety glasses. It is so easy to get something in your eyes, even with a cordless drill.
That’s true....
Hes so funny
Sure to be plenty more jokes in the future🤣
Travelling K or Hayden's Travels😊
hahah or Handy Hayden?
Hey Karen, perhaps Hayden should click on the skillshare link and start his own channel 😉
🤣 learn how to edit?
Did you get a spare can for diesel? ????
Still looking! They have all been too big in the shops.
"Railings" - you mean curtain track :)
Can you tell I forgot the name when filming?🤣
@@TravellingK LOL :)
Do you know where the line is between Australia and NZ where the fish become fush? Lol, love your videos K xx
Fush is the correct pronunciation! haha
Link does not work....
I just checked it and seems ok to me? Maybe try a different internet browser?
Wow, you really are becoming famous! There is a comment from a self-promoting cam-girl further down. Maybe she's trying to piggy-back on your popularity!
Ha good spotting! Shall delete...
Not too keen on the background music that has crept into recent videos
Is it the music at the end? It’s my current favourite song 😜
Hayden needs the video skill share thing to learn about Auto Gain Control - and why you don't fit ear defenders to cameras. He also needs design skills - as clearly that shelf he's fitting should have rested on the 'white' metal lip just below the windows - so you open the top glass part of the back for the top shelf and the bottom part for below !
The shelf works perfectly for me🤷♀️
Hmm not so sure skills are is a good platform for you..... seems to me they seem to rip off educators after a few months. You should check out other TH-cam's recent feedback on them.
Oh, I haven't heard of this! So far I've been impressed.
It's pointless mentioning gloves and glasses, isn't it? ;-)
Tom P safety eyelids, mate!
haha, probably😉
