I drummed on this video and was with Skafish for the entire time the band recorded and toured. Jim was a musical genius. Far ahead of the time! People were just not quite ready to accept his appearance and music.
I'll say it again. This easily is my favorite live video ever and I've seen a lot. These people really got to see an absolute stellar performance. Everything here is on point. The performance, sound, the bands movements, and playing. Honestly, it's perfect.
Funny. When I first saw Urgh when I was like 16 this was one of my least favorite cuts, a decade later and it’s a highlight. Skafish were definitely ahead of their time and it took me some time to come around to that Barbie Goodrich looks like she could’ve been in Orgy of the Dead here lol
Scafish's band doing this Sign Of The Cross in france an seen of the legendary Urg music war video tape an later dvd still makes me laugh out loud for its defiant sarcasim which mr scafish received for 12 yrs as a catholic student by some abusive facilatators of those learning institutions. Well Mr Scafish an his musisians he worked with made legendary music history in 70s + an I know I cant image no punk rock music history to embrace. Thank kittens for that. But even to day Mr Scafish has survived what many did not in this new yr of 2021 an has an is making beautiful music an contributed to helping intercity children. That speaks. Like I said in another comment, " Scafish changed The Universe". But that is part of being good enough to be known in history to do so a live to continue. Keep on keepin on man!!!!
Playing as blisteringly hot as this hours after a significant accident involving multiple tour semis hauling your gear and, using a fair amount of XTCs gear to enable even playing...incredible
Exceptionally fine band/players with a musical genius (Jim Skafish) leading them. WAYYYYYYY ahead of most of their contemporaries in all facets of performance, conceptualization, songwriting and, arrangement. Brilliant
As a big fan of this performance, I was briefly in touch with him. And I learned that he an excellent pianist with recordings that display those talents.
I met Jim Skafish a couple times, once at a jukebox in a hotel on Highway 41 in Hammond IN, where he was playing for my late friend Tiny's birthday. I ended up helping him take his one man band gear to his car in below zero temp that night. The other time was at the Quarterback Club in East Chicago, where he signed my copy of one of his IRS LP's.
Thanks mr scafish for making a difference in yhe art of music an continueing to be doing it today throw gifted talents an helping people in a positive encouraging way. Thanks
PASCAL REDREGOO There's no way all of this was your first because these concerts were taking place across the span of a year in different places in the world
I LOVE THIS SO MUCH. And I love you for posting it. I've been looking for it ever since I heard it playing in a friend's car back in the 80's. It stuck in my mind all these years, but my friend is long gone and couldn't remember the name of it or who sang it, so I've been checking on TH-cam off and on all this time. I finally typed in "sign of the cross punk music" and miraculously, up comes Skafish! I was raised Catholic, which sucked, so this song means a lot to me. Hurray~!!! I'm going to listen about 20 times in a row.

Saw you guys in Madison. Used to tell Miles how great you were. Found this looking for "We'll See a Psychiatrist."
Larry Mysliwiec

He had a really good run as Al Bundy though
great performance,
looks like the world finally caught up to Skafish...

Larry, you guys and Jim are such an inspiration, I can't tell you enough how much i luv what you've done. Y'all just fucking killed it...
Jim Skafish is a really talented person as shown by his more recent Jazz output. A very funny and kind human being.
NME 1980. Never got this fellow's image out of my head. Legend

Same. Artistry of the highest order. Ten out of ten stars.
Skafish hustled me at a game of ping-pong in the 8th grade.
One of the most incredible performances I have ever seen.

I need to see that video again. It was amazing when I saw it way back in the 80s.
He had the world in his hands for a moment during this song.He deserves much more.Wonderful human being.

R.I.P. Barbie, you were you were beautiful, and great
No, what a babe. sad.

Skafish is one of the coolest artists and a very nice guy...one of the highlights of Urg a Music War
Video quality is amazing for 1980!
Film
Jim is an incredible guy! He's one of the nicest people I've interacted with on Facebook!

A pleasure to be Jim's friend. He remains a visionary in music.
He's an amazing guy. I just had a great conversation with him. Sign of the cross at Frejus is one of the greatest live shows ever!
The first song I heard from Jimmy, and I've been a fan ever since.
Jim is a really talented guy, I played briefly with him in the 90’s.
Thanks mr scafish for making a difference in yhe art of music an continueing to be doing it today throw gifted talents an helping people in a positive encouraging way. Thanks
Great !
Skafish thanks for sharing your band and talent 🎶
Showtime back in the early 80s during summer break for elementary and high school.... everyone punk rock homework? Indeed I learned.
This is the most theatrical punk song ever.
Genius=No FEAR...Still Love This Incarnation...
One of the best live performances ever.
Awesome
the messiah...the crowd should be thankful to have seen him...what a performance...Skafish...thank you so much
In my top 10 all time live songs.
Al Bundy could really rock when he was young

I Love This...
Mark Mensing73 Hey Buddy
Thanks so much for uploading this! Skafish is awesome!!
Hard to find much footage of this wonderfully deranged band. RIP Barbie Goodrich.

Real tight band, ahead of its time.
Reallly, 37 years ago? Sounds like yesterday...
Brilliant!
Biggest smile ever listening to this
Skafish was on one of those compilation records..IRS?
YES INDEED
😍
DOPE Shite!!!
Hilarious but still badass!
Chicago's very own, SKAFISH!!
I can't stop laughing.
Is that a mellotron? Very interesting mix of instruments and I love this performance.
Yes it is. Mr. Skafish just told me so on Facebook!
He was sent to Catholic school and didn't like it.
Only Bozio could rival this drummer at the time!
This is very amusing..& blasphemous. Jim is making fun of his Catholic School upbringing.
This was really good. His recorded music didn't have this kind of energy unfortunately.
A better catholic never was
jimmy and barbie
I wonder if that guy is jewish ?
He's catholic!
No. Went to catholic school
why? because of his great hooter???
