    My father was from Donaghamore near Ballybrophy. Moved to the big smoke in his twenties. He passed away a few weeks ago aged 103. His name was Paul Fogarty

      @@LaoisHeritageForum thanks we were lucky he passed away peacefully. I rented a thatch in Emo since and did a bit of of the old roots trail. Pity the Signalbox is closed!

    I understand the circumstances in which this video was made but I am very surprised it was sanitised so much. I have read a lot of reports of life in the workhouses and I have to say this did not reflect the true misery that was involved. You make this seem like something run by the Quakers as almost wholesome.

    Even now this episode generates anger and hostility towards the British.
