I really enjoy the build videos. The payoff video after the build is good too, but the build videos answer the "what will happen if" questions many of us have.
Great inspiration Raz. I mostly enjoy building more than driving. Building needs more skills than driving. I personally use my time like this: - 1/4 driving and 3/4 building and improving. My personal interest goes more to building than driving. Great vid by the way 😉👍

Not necessarily. It was already dropping down to 280C with a set temp of 450, which means it wasn't able to provide enough power to heat up that much solder and wire. A bigger chisel would only give a bigger instant heat load when applied, and not affect the continuous maximum output.
I have similar "mobile" iron (TS100) and use it almost exclusively and it definitely works better with bigger tips. I race mainly 1S, 2S and 4S systems so I have experience with only max #12 gauge wires.
You and rich are some of the only guys who actually share their gear values and speed secrets. I cant stand those guys who are like “ I cant tell you my gear ratio it’s secret” I literally want to punch them in the face. Thank you so much for sharing these secrets Raz. You have saved me and many others in the community thousands of dollars in pinion gears and experimenting. You made this channel what I always wished I could make or find on you tube. Your a true legend!

Amazing vid. Most speed runners won't show you their hardware/software setups. The fact that you reveal your setups deserves mad respect! Thanks for the walkthrough on setting up quad motor on perfect pass launch controller and doing all the guess work for us. Note! You can copy Raz's setups, but can you run just as fast? Doubt it! This man is a master of the trade! Thanks for bringing interesting content in the speed run RC world category to your viewers.
I plan on only running one of those Castle motors with a Mamba Monster X 8S and a 2 speed trans in a home built 1/6 Baja style truck in 8s...I'm hoping it's a beast but I'm still planning as parts are expensive and I can't afford to just throw money at it to see what works... I've been out of the R/C game for about 20 years....Things sure have changed!
If you have issues with blowing drive shafts or differentials then it would be interesting to see a quad build with each motor shaft connected directly to each tire. Not sure if that's even a thing that would work. I understand it would take a crazy amount of custom work and probably wouldn't even work with an arrma car. But as a completely custom car, one motor directly connected to each tire would be insane in my opinion. Just an idea for thought.
Isn’t the issue drivetrain losses by going through a geared system with a main driveshaft? So in-hub or even direct shaft could be smaller motors, possible controller by lighter smaller ESCs managed by an onboard “brain”. Basically a drone on wheels… I have a an idea betaflight once supported cars?
Even if it flux built in to the solder wire, I strongly recomend you to use some extra flux from a bottle that you stroke your wire with a brush and the connector surface. Its a good way to control where you want you solder to be placed. Also it can be good to measure the Ohm on between the wire and connector after soldering. Everyting can look perfect but might still not be a perfect connection. happend to me one time when soldering in a power cable for a transponder to a Helicopter. 2 Ohm in one cable and 7 ohm in another. Heating it again with the soldering iron and then both were on 2ohm :) Good build and it will be fun to see it ripp!

Man that thing is sweet sounding. Looks like Christmas lights when you turn the light off and the esc’s are lighting up. $6,000 well spent even if it is a flying 🚀, but hopefully not. Please use a bigger tip for the soldering iron, such a small tip has too little thermal mass for 8-10AWG wires , I was able to wire up my X-Class drone with a bunch of 10 AWG and 12 AWG wires with just a TS100 because I use a giant tip to provide the thermal mass. The tip matters sooo much
Thermal mass can help, but it’s a band-aid for the problem. The real issue is the power delivery of the soldering iron not keeping up with the heat transfer from the tip. I’d be interested to see how it performs with the max number of cells it’s rated for.
@@400_billion_suns I run the TS100 at 24v from a server power supply since most of my hobby chargers run of the same power supply as well , it maintains temperature even on heavy joints. It's not recommended to run the TS100 on voltages lower than 24v.
You have a lot of patience. Very nice build. If one motor decouples would that likely destroy the others? I wonder if there’s a way to build something like in newer dual overhead cam engines where the other cams and valve train aren’t a burden to the others. Not thinking a slipper clutch but something that would decouple. Even a sacrificial coupling. Just an idea

Great work Raz, can't wait to see it run. I have a decent soldering iron here, it can get as hot as you like, but unfortunately that is no substitute for a physically larger Iron when soldering larger wires/battery plugs etc.

I totally understand you questioning yourself about what value you are providing your community. From my prospective, someone that can't afford to build these multi-motor builds. You are providing a crap ton of value making these experimental builds. Someone in the situation like yourself. Someone that can actually afford to do it. I think you should experiment more. Think outside the box and try crazy stuff so people like myself can experience a little bit of things we couldn't imagine other wise.
I work at a hobby shop, and while there aren't many quad Mamba X Infractions coming through the door, it is interesting to watch and learn about the Mamba X and it's limitations. Who knows, maybe one day... 😂

i’m in the process of building a 4 motor 4tec, a motor on each wheel. this helps so much with wiring and how i’ll have to have it set up so i don’t burn the whole thing out. Thank you for the wiring process😂
Those irons really need the max 25v 3A to work properly. Also tip needs to be one with large thermal mass to really move the heat to solder properly when soldering big wire.
I have a very simular soldering iron and i it the best i have ever tryed. My soldering iron has no problems with any kind of job, only drawback it that it uses a 5A power surply from a laptop pc that take up space in my pitbag. Love your videos, can´t wait to see that sick car on the road.

hi Raz i am a big fan and i think that you are making the most epic rc speed run car and if you don't do 200+ mph with this setup i will be shocked. i am in england and the fasted rc car i have got went 41mph and it was a axial exo desert buggy so i am a bit off with your speeds lol good luck with your first run will keep an eye on youtube for the next video mate.
I think the only thing I'd be concerned about in this specific case, is that it seems all the escs' leds are off just slightly in forward and reverse. Now, it's probably no real issue at all as the transmitter is showing them powering up to the same level with no delay between the 4 motors/escs. Just some food for thought brother. Very cool build, can't wait to see it rip and see how fast it truly is.
Could I use your 4 motor config on a high torque ratio for an e-bike??? Sorry if that’s off topic but I just love e-bikes and we got our start Diy wise all because of you R/C guy’s lol you are going to teach me soo much!
i would make 4 mixer (channel 2, 3, 4 and 5) to channel 2, so i have 4 different servo-exit (2, 3, 4 and 5) for 4 ESC. All ESC Power-up, then conect to battery and leraning on to Transmitter at once... Thats how would try it, and hopefully dont need a firefighter... Oh, of course: Thank you very much for showing us these videos, i love it :-)
Thank you for walking through the build process. This is really interesting. I have a question about using the 1 masters & 3 slave esc setup. Why did you use this configuration opposed to using a quadcopter esc? I recognize it might have to be reprogrammed which maybe more complex but might be more reliable in the future. Keep up the great work on the vids, builds and product developments. I greatly appreciate all the time, effort and resources you invest into the hobby.

if that iron is like the ts100.. works much better on 6s also there are bigger tips for heavy jobs, they also have different firmware which does some cool stuff.

i think "quadmovr" have made a prototype car with direct drive 1 motor per wheel
Would have to be quite a wide car as got to allow for length of motor unless you can mount inbetween a-arms which wouldn't be good for unsprung weight
I had that in mind when I thought a out the Tesla Tractor Trailer...

He already did build a budget limitless 140mph car
Please use a bigger tip for the soldering iron, such a small tip has too little thermal mass for 8-10AWG wires , I was able to wire up my X-Class drone with a bunch of 10 AWG and 12 AWG wires with just a TS100 because I use a giant tip to provide the thermal mass. The tip matters sooo much
Also higher voltage makes a big difference with ts100
Thermal mass can help, but it’s a band-aid for the problem. The real issue is the power delivery of the soldering iron not keeping up with the heat transfer from the tip. I’d be interested to see how it performs with the max number of cells it’s rated for.

i would make 4 mixer (channel 2, 3, 4 and 5) to channel 2, so i have 4 different servo-exit (2, 3, 4 and 5) for 4 ESC. All ESC Power-up, then conect to battery and leraning on to Transmitter at once... Thats how would try it, and hopefully dont need a firefighter... Thank you for walking through the build process. This is really interesting. I have a question about using the 1 masters & 3 slave esc setup. Why did you use this configuration opposed to using a quadcopter esc? I recognize it might have to be reprogrammed which maybe more complex but might be more reliable in the future. Keep up the great work on the vids, builds and product developments. I greatly appreciate all the time, effort and resources you invest into the hobby.

if that iron is like the ts100.. works much better on 6s
also there are bigger tips for heavy jobs,
they also have different firmware which does some cool stuff.
