It's still a gimmick. The S GX701 was practical but this is atrocious.
I just got mine and I cant put it down. Probably one of the coolest pieces of tech that actually feels like new tech.

my flatmate has one that he uses as a 2nd pc/encoder to stream, he has it on a laptop cooler which props it up making the 2nd screen at eye level which he puts his twitch chat on its quite cool and makes his whole setup look boss asf.

Completely agreed it'd be nice to have a slightly higher angle for the bottom screen. And agreed, for pro travel use it's actually not as gimmicky as you'd think. I also love it for premiere on the road, but funny how different we all can be, for me I found the bottom screen was perfect for the timeline itself to get a much larger viewing screen on the primary monitor. It also is FANTASTIC for streaming, having a touch-screen on the bottom, apps like Livestream Studio actually work perfectly with it and the bottom touch monitor acts as a switching control surface to allow easy selection of sources!
However the only confusion I have is all around the ROG software, which actually has some handy features, but seems all over the place with it functioning. For example the weird "ROG SCREENPAD" screen with the weird hoverboard looking thing keeps disappearing, not sure what's up with that, and I've had the little touch carrot on the side also disappear (which is how you access the quick dock for changing apps). Compared to gaming laptops even 5 years ago it's insanely lightweight and compact.
I also love where the trackpad is located, I think more should be designed this way, it's essentially how normal M/K use is. Fan noise is annoying when pushed (silent for web browsing, but even simple games cause the fans to ramp up to obnoxious levels, likely due to the rear being so open so it's very noticeable.

Hi Im planning on ordering this too I’m just wondering if I game but also go on TH-cam and edit would you recommend the 1080 or the 4K 60hz if I did get the 4K I would probably have it hooked up to a monitor to game at 240hz but what would you suggest?
wolf that would be a good idea to hook it to another monitor to game, I’m in the same boat but opposite, I want mine to be portable gaming machine so I got the 1080 version, and if I need to edit 4K I’ll hook it up to a separate 4K monitor ... so if you’re good for gaming in 1 spot then go with the 4K version

Welll do you think it was worth i'm pretty sure the 300 hz one has different specs the ones I saw had i7s and 2070 supers while the 4k one had i9s and 2080 supers
andd this things sold out everywhere I don't even think they sell this one their website, on best buy they only have the 4k version and on amazon they're selling this for like 6k lmao where did you get yours from i'm thinknig about getting mine from adorama but it's on back order.
Been using mine the duo 14 for about a year now and love it👍👍……can go back to a normal 1 screen pc ، battery is amazing too

If there was a 2K 120hz+ version I definitely would get this. I still might. I really want a laptop that's perfect for video editors that's great for gaming as a side benefit. I totally agree with the touch screen needing to be a bigger angle with a lower bezel at the bottom to be more seemless. Full sized SD card reader will be missed, which is what photographers like myself appreciate.

It's good to see companies innovate. Though this is an impressive, though expensive device, I'm not sure who will buy it. Most people that I know that have a workload that requires a workstation tend to go desktop. You do get mobile gamers but for 66 percent of this price, you can get a laptop with similar grunt. I guess there are people who do some workstation tasks and game and are rich. In that case it is a good device.

I would go with a portable laptop with Ryzen 4000 CPU for work/traveling, and a strong desktop at home for gaming instead. It's still two separate systems though.

This is and has been my dream computer ever since it got revealed, it’s basically everything I like about gaming machines packed into one package. I’m still in high school though. But I think by the time I’ve graduated University, have my own business and can afford something like this, there will be much better options. Laptops 5 years ago aren’t really powerful compared to laptops in 2020, so imagine portable gaming devices in 5 years :)

Hello I’m planning on ordering one too i game and I’m not sure if getting the 4K 60hz and just using a monitor to game is worth or should o get the 1080p 300hz one which one would you recommend I go on TH-cam a lot and sometimes that nice quality is worth but I do play FPS games

I've looked into egpu's and i'm considering getting one after doing a more research and stuff. do they help with gaming but I've heard problems about my laptop and cpu throttling is it worth it returning my legion it has a 2080 super max q but I can't really use it to it's full extent and getting something with a worse internal graphics card but better cooling and all

I'd love to get this one to replace my 5 yo ASUS gaming laptop. It weighs about 10 gazillion pounds making it tough to travel with, so 5.3# would seem like a feather. However, with your comment; "there are better gaming machines out there," maybe I should keep looking for a more affordable option. I'm fascinated with the dual screens, though. I love Asus gaming machines, so I'll probably look at another Zephyrus model.

I think ASUS have done a really great job, but it could be a teeny bit better - maybe a main screen that's also touchscreen, a true Zephyrus cooling system that lifts up the back for even more airflow, and of course AMD. Definitely excited for the next version of this with the latest 'latest' GPUs. Second screen is a bit of a gimmick but it has its uses particularly as a desktop replacement on the go.
Did you have any quality control issues? I've seen a lot of comments about people having to send their units in for RMA and was wondering how frequent issues came up.
I feel like it would be more useful to put your premiere timeline down there instead...did you happen to try that?

a little more bezel and that thing would've been a square. I know it's an issue with form factor and size but I would've preferred a smaller screenpad than a thicker bottom main bezel...
@@sushimshah2896 yep, but the problem is that there are no OLED or high refresh 16:10 screens. It's pretty much the biggest complaint every person has for the Razer Blade lineup, especially the Blade 13 stealth...

It would be great concept if the main screen did not had a 5cm bottom bezel. The second screen is hardly wider than the bottom bezel. This mean they could have used a 4:3 panel and you would have almost the same screen area without having a second screen.
You said there are less costly laptops preferable to this laptop and better performance. Which ones are you referring to?
For me, the trackpad is in the perfect place! This eliminates hitting it while typing and totally screwing up your document. Not sure why people don't get this.....well, I guess the manufacturers actually DO GET IT!
I finally found one but it's the 4K version. I purchased it but I still have time to back out. I'm concerned due to some games not running at optimal performance at full 4K and want to know if there's an option to upscale a 1080p image on the monitor? As I'm certain I'll be mostly gaming at that resolution. I'm afraid it'll just stretch the image and make it look blurry. Thanks for the informative video!!
What gaming laptop would you recommend up to 3k $ range that is better then this? im planning on buying one soon but i have no idea what im doing and i dont wanna spend that much money if i couldve gotten something better for less, thanks!
Edit: i would also like something that has a fairly big screen size and isnt TOO loud, i dont mind if its heavier or has low battery life as im gonna mostly use it on my home table for gaming.
For editing on the field with a full blown NLE like DaVinci Resolve, would you recommend the Zenbook duo 14 or the ROG Zephyrus Duo 15?

Before I didn't prefer this laptop but now I'm interested. Now the question is should I upgrade from my ROG Strix Hero 3 to the Zephyrus Duo 15 or wait for the ROG Strix Hero 4???
Can't believe it....I was considering buying it, I'm a computer student and I love gaming and I move a lot as a paying guest between houses so I can't have a desktop.
But the second he said no webcam I was disappointed, lockdown changed everything, a webcam is necessary!
Ofcourse I could buy a separate webcam but it would be nice to have less parts to carry around and its a 4k laptop ffs.

This is an innovative solution. I find it to be much better then Apple's Touchbar. The limiting factor is the software and Asus added some pretty useful software tricks. So I think it just needs to mature a little bit, I see it as a great feature
Btw, if this is suppose to be a workstation, it's better to use a mouse than the trackpad

use the touchscreen as an all-around mouse/ touchpad. fill the touchpad area for numeric and none of that ugly touch numpad. Boom!
So second screen can not be used as an extended like having a long web browser from top to bottom.

you sure will get it at an lower price. maybe around 1700 USD early 2021. Asus sure will release a lower price version.
There are other Zephyrus options for all budgets

Shame that main screen is not a 16:10 aspect ratio where you'd have a seamless two screen experience.

Could you clarify whether there is a chance to use the second display (lower) with a virtual keyboard, despite the fact that it would be with a fixed selected language, regardless of the setting on the physical keys? For example, I type physical keys in French, on the second display a virtual keyboard with an English? Thank you in advance for your response.

The one thing Asus needs to improve this is putting a better keyboard. This looks to have the same keyboard as my zephyrus s and it's painful to use long typing sessions. My wishlist for a good productivity/creator's laptop would have a 4k 16:10 100% P3 color gamut 17", upgradable ram slots similar to the dell xps 17, SD card slot, thunderbolt 3, USB A 3.2, and a decent GPU 2060 or a workstation equivalent.
I feel like the 300hz screen is overkill 165 or 240hz would be enough because realistically you aren’t hitting more than that in most newer games
