So basically all it takes to knock them out without killing quickly is to stand behind them point your gun at them cancel weapon usage and in 1P view mode punch their freakin nuts to faint. WOW
Yes! I debated doing it again to get a better run of it, but I figured it's cool to show that you don't have to be perfect to beat these with a 1st place score. Plus it was pretty funny, I'm sure you can hear my thoughts when the fourth nut punch fails lol

I don't know why they just didn't include a playable snakes part of the plant instead. Wouldve made good dlc or a crazy good incentive to buy substance.
I would imagine with MGS2 launching in November 2001 after that the bulk of the studios budget and resources shifted towards MGS3 which launched in November 2004. The VR missions, alternative missions, and Snake Tales in MGS2 Substance were probably made on a shoestring budget and schedule. They were also partially working on Twin Snakes.
I have never personally played TTS as I don't really do Nintendo, but since it copies anything you can do gameplay-wise in MGS2, I'm pretty sure I can confidently say that you can. As far as MGS3 goes, I had hooked back up my old console for other reasons so I quickly started MGS3 and just checked and you definitely can! :D

I don't know, I like them both pretty much equally. I think it's mostly because of how more complex than the first game MGS2 really is. Except Weapon Mode, that's just kinda boring in both games, IMO. MGS is not a shooter to me, and when you give me something where the only point/objective is to shoot targets without a brain that can't even be outsmarted... you take away the most fun part of the game.
@@RedSnake_9 there was just something about VR2 that felt there was waaaay too much padding and not enough creativity, like "Hey clear these missions with Snake, now clear them with MGS1 Snake, now Tuxedo Snake!" When they literally just control exactly the same know what I mean? Also they reuse MGS2 levels...I dunno VR2 just didn't feel like they put enough care and love to it like they did in the first. I was so disappointed when I finally could play as Grey Fox Raiden and found out he just played exactly the same and it was just a skin
@@felphero I agree with the missed opportunity of differentiating a bit more between different characters, especially the one you mention, Ninja Raiden. However, when you really think about it, they serve as difficulty settings. MGS1 Snake being the hardest difficulty, which is pretty cool. I feel like I have a spot in my heart for both, for different reasons.
He needs to be unlocked by clearing other Snake versions' missions. Since the MGS1 version is the last one to be unlocked, it would make sense some people haven't done that. These missions are the most challenging and more fun ones too!

No, it's not. In the "Substance" version of the game you have extra VR Missions you can play and they're split into "characters". Each character has their own set of missions, and you start with only Snake and Raiden to choose from. By completing missions as those characters, you unlock the other version of themselves, until you unlock them all. This one is the last (and with the hardest missions) version of Snake you can unlock.
@@RedSnake_9 I have the HD collection I'll have to double check it hahah maybe I didn't complete enough missions. I know mgs vr missions for the PS1 took forever to unlock gray fox
@@nealmaples9147 Yeah, the HD Collection is what I'm also playing in these videos, so you have it for sure. Just need to complete more missions and you'll unlock the next character, then complete those, and unlock the next one too until you'll have him. You can kinda see from the VR Missions menu, where you can pick Snake or Raiden, that there are a lot of empty spaces for things to unlock. Good luck! :D
I don't know if I understand the questions, but I'm assuming you want to know how to play these extra missions? In that case, you need a different version of the game that comes with extra content. The base versione of the game is MGS2: Sons of Liberty, whereas this "special" version is called MGS2: Substance
While it's true, there's only so much they can do. The gameplay systems will always be limited compared to "real life" and as such they will always have something that is exploitable. Look at MGSV. I see this as more of a puzzle game, to find how exactly and how fast or efficiently you can do missions and things in general, versus it being hard. It's more of a "how well can i do it?" instead of a "can i do it?", at least to me. So as long as the gameplay systems work well with each other and are balanced and polished, I'm fine even if they're a bit on the dumb side, so to speak.

Man there was just something about the VR missions in MGS2 that just were never as straightforward and fun as the ones in MGS1
